Open
Used to open chests.
Sora/Roxas uses their weapon to open a nearby treasure chest. Unlike in Kingdom Hearts, this can also be done during battle.
Skateboard
Used to mount skateboards.
Sora/Roxas mounts a skateboard. He then gains access to the following commands:
;On the ground
*c: Jump (x in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix)
*x: Heelflip
*s: Get off
;Grinding
*c: Pop-Jump
*t (near an edge): Grind
*s (while grinding): Handstand
;In midair
*c: Air Walk
*x: 360° spin
*s: Method Grab

These commands are essential at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II when Roxas does odd jobs to save money to go the beach, such as Mail Delivery.
Note: The commands for 360° Spin and Air Walk are switched in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
Save
Used to access a Save Point. Players can save their progress.
In-battle Reaction Commands
Nobodies/Organization XIII
General Nobodies
Certain reaction commands are available between certain bosses and their respective Nobodies; as such, they have been placed in the same categories as the Boss itself.
*Reversal
:Sora/Roxas does a quick 180° slide, confusing the Dusk. If used when a Creeper is nearby, it will be confused as well.
:Used Against: Dusk
:Note: In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Sora can use this Reaction Command in his battle against Roxas in The World That Never Was.
*Fail-Safe
:Sora grabs an Assassin that is about to self-destruct and throws it towards the ground. This destroys the Assassin while dealing damage to nearby enemies and forcing other Assassins to emerge from the ground.
:Used Against: Assassin
*Duel Stance
:Sora must select "The End" in the command list before time is up to slash through the Samurai, but if too much time passes, Sora will lose the duel and be slashed instead. In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, the player has to hit the "O" in the menu bar to slash through the Samurai; selecting any one of the three "X" commands or not selecting anything at all will result in a loss of the duel.
:Used against: Samurai
:Note: In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Sora may be forced to select "The End" in the command list before time runs out during his battle with Roxas. Successfully doing this will allow Sora to steal Roxas's Keyblades and use them against him; failure allows Roxas to slice through Sora and deal a large amount of damage to him.
*Stop Dice
:Begins a game where player has to hit x at the right time. If the player fails, Sora is turned into a die by the Gambler.
:Used against: Gambler.
*Berserk
:Sora grabs a Berserker's weapon (or Saïx's Claymore) and floats above the ground as he holds it; his head shines with a red and black aura, indicating a berserk state. Nearby enemies are pulled in towards the weapon.
:Used against: Berserker and Saïx
*Magna Storm
:Follows the Berserk Reaction Command. Sora executes a combo that starts on the ground and concludes in the air, hitting all enemies in range. This command is also used to neutralize Saïx's berserk state.
:Used against: Berserker and Saïx
Organization Bosses
Below is the list of all Organization XIII and Nobody bosses whose respective fights utilize Reaction Commands; note that some of these characters are only encountered in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.

:Sora grabs Larxene by the wrist and throws her into the air. Then he grabs her clone, also by the wrist, and spins her around, lifting her up off the floor. He then hurls the clone at her original self as she falls back down, causing them to forcibly merge. This stuns Larxene for a short time.
:Used against: Larxene's Absent Silhouette in Port Royal - Isla de Muerta: Rock Face, and during her Data Battle
;Lexaeus
*Mega Impact
:Sora jumps back as his "power meter" increases to an amount 100 points more than Lexaeus's ( an equal amount if Lexaeus's power is 99,999, which is the maximum). Sora then slides quickly into Lexaeus, striking him with a devastating uppercut. This stuns Lexaeus for a short time.
:Used Against: Lexaeus's Absent Silhouette in Twilight Town - Sandlot, and during his Data Battle
;Marluxia
*Restore Count
:Sora evades Marluxia's slash and knocks his scythe out of his hands with the Keyblade. After grabbing the scythe, Sora slices Marluxia a few times, knocking him away. In the Data Battle, the amount regained in this Reaction Command is halved for every time it is used.

:Used against: Axel in the basement of the Simulated Twilight Town, and during his Data Battle
;Twilight Thorn
*Reversal
:Sora/Roxas quickly dashes behind the enemy, confusing all Dusks and Creepers in the immediate area for a short time. This can also be used against the Twilight Thorn and Xemnas's thorn attacks. In this case, Sora/Roxas will dash around his foe's attacks and bring him within attack range of Xemnas or the Twilight Thorn.
:Used against: Dusk, Creeper, Twilight Thorn, or Xemnas
*Key Counter
:When the Twilight Thorn tries to punch him, Roxas jumps over the Twilight Thorn's hand, and then he slashes its face.

:Used against: Twilight Thorn
;Demyx
*Show Stealer
:Show Stealer is available during the second battle against Demyx in Hollow Bastion. The command appears when Demyx dances towards Sora while playing his sitar. If Show Stealer is activated, Sora will stand behind Demyx while pretending to be strumming his Keyblade like a sitar before knocking Demyx into the air, thus interrupting his attacks and forcing him away. If Show Stealer is not properly executed, Sora will tap Demyx's shoulder in an attempt to distract him, only to have the latter notices and hits him instead. This Reaction Command can be ignored by moving away from Demyx until it disappears.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Reaction Commands
In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Reaction Commands only appear during special event battles, usually when the protagonist is fighting alongside another character. Instead of using a separate, dedicated button, Reaction Commands simply replace the attack button (x) when they become available. Reaction Commands are also used in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep to open treasure chests and examine nearby objects.
*Use Transporter: Transports the player to and from the Mirage Arena.
*Goal: When escorting a character, such as Jaq or Snow White, Goal ends the task.
*Avenger: When party members are hurt, various Avenger commands can be used to attack or defend against nearby enemies with s. Avenger commands include Avenger Rush, Avenger Save, and others.
*White Calm: When Ventus escorts Snow White, trees will attempt to scare her by blowing on her. If she yells, "Help me!", then pressing s activates White Calm, which is a command that releases a tornado of light that picks up enemies and stuns them if they survive. It also stops the trees from attacking Snow White. White Calm is identical to Sign of Faith.
*Last Dance: While Terra escorts Cinderella to the ballroom, an enemy may attack her. To defend her, press s, then x to activate Last Dance, during which Terra slams his Keyblade into the ground, creating a shockwave that takes out nearby Unversed.
*Joint Force: Used in response to Maleficent's "Cursed Light" when standing within the circle of light created by Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. Joint Force requires the player to press the buttons that appear onscreen in either a clockwise or counterclockwise fashion. It causes Ventus to launch a ball of light towards Maleficent that inflicts Sleep and deals damage.
*: When Prince Phillip is a party member, he will signal Aqua to come towards him, waving his shield and saying, "Here." After pressing s, Aqua and Prince Phillip join hands; Phillip tosses Aqua into the air, allowing her to strike either a high platform or Maleficent herself.
*Astro Shot/Strike: When Experiment 626 is a party member, he will occasionally hop up and down with a white halo around him. Pressing s while standing next to him causes the player character to grab him as he curls into a ball; the player character then throws him the enemy. In the Gantu and Metamorphosis boss battles, this command is called "Astro Strike," but in the Turo Prison Block, it is called "Astro Shot."

*Swing Slash: In the Jellyshade battle in Olympus Coliseum, Hercules will occasionally activate this move. If the player hits s, Hercules will pick Ventus up and swing him, but the player must also spin the analog stick clockwise to charge the attack. After it is charged up, the player can use Swing Slash, which makes Ventus rocket into the Jellyshade crowd, defeating anything in his path. Failure to spin the analog stick quick enough ends the move and makes Hercules flinch.
*Bronco Strike: During the Lucifer boss battle, Lucifer may jump up onto a high piece of furniture and pounce. If Ventus dodges it, he can strike Lucifer and activate the command with the s. If the player presses the shown buttons at the right time while riding Lucifer, he or she can activate this Reaction Command which, causes Ventus to unleash multiple strikes upon Lucifer and stun him.
*Turnover: In the battle against the Cursed Coach, Turnover can be used when an attack is blocked. This Reaction Command causes Aqua to strike the Unversed multiple times, causing it to turn over and become stunned for a short time.
*Burst of Faith: When Mickey is a party member, he may yell, "Let's team up!" This signals the player to get close to Mickey and press the s. Ventus or Aqua then starts spinning with Mickey after activating the command; they attack nearby enemies with rays of light. Burst of Faith grants invincibility, which is useful in the Ventus-Vanitas battle, during which the boss uses a powerful charged attack.
*Dual Limit: In the final battle against Terra-Xehanort, the Guardian may grab Aqua. If so, the player must press x repeatedly to break free. When Aqua breaks free, she enters a bright area where Terra is; the Guardian attempts to keep her from reaching him. If Aqua reaches Terra without getting hit, and the player presses s, Dual Limit will be activated. Press x at the right time in order to deal heavy damage to the Guardian. This Reaction Command is almost identical to Trinity Limit.
Other appearances
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX
In Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, the fourth command in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, which previously enabled actions and special abilities, has been replaced with the Summon option. Now, the player can use t to trigger actions such as Talk and Open. t can also be used to fully execute special abilities such as Strike Raid.</includeonly>

The Sky Scraper Reaction Command as it appears in the Xemnas (Dragon) boss battle.

Reaction Commands are a feature introduced in Kingdom Hearts II, intended to extend the level of combat. By pressing Triangle in specific contexts, the player character will perform a specific action indicated by the title of the command. These reactions are generally combat maneuvers used to gain the upper hand against enemies, though they are also used for more mundane actions such as talking to other characters and opening chests. Occasionally, some Reaction Commands must be completed in order to end a battle. Only a select few Reaction Commands require the player to press Triangle the moment it appears; in Kingdom Hearts II, one can press Triangle until the command is initiated, suffering no penalty if Triangle is not pressed at the right moment. Only three Reaction Commands in the entirety of Kingdom Hearts II penalize such an action. In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, pressing Triangle too early during the execution of a Sleight prevents the attack from being completed.

Kingdom Hearts

Note: Reaction commands only appear within the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX version of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and overlap with the party member command button.

Enemy-specific reaction commands

Command Description Context
Reversal (スライドターン Suraido Tān?, lit. "Slide Turn") Sora or Roxas rapidly slides clockwise or counterclockwise behind the enemy, confusing all Dusks and Creepers in the immediate area for a short time. Can also be used against Twilight Thorn's and Xemnas's thorn attacks, as well as Mushroom No.1. In this case, Sora or Roxas will dash around his foe's attacks whilst bringing him closer to Xemnas or Twilight Thorn, and attempt to dodge Mushroom No.1's assaults.

Against Roxas himself, Sora can use Reversal at the moment Roxas takes back his Keyblades to avoid immediate retaliation while sliding to his blind side, leaving him confused and open to attack for a moment.

When fighting against certain Nobodies such as Dusks or when avoiding certain attacks, notably from Mushroom No.1, as well as fighting against Roxas.
Quick Slide (ハイスライド Hai Suraido?, lit. "High Slide") Sora rapidly slides clockwise or counterclockwise behind Mushroom No.1, confusing it and making it open to combos. Can be used after delaying a Reversal long enough in a fight against Mushroom No.1.
Fail-Safe (メルトブレイク Meruto Bureiku?, lit. "Melt Break") Sora grabs an Assassin that is about to self-destruct off the ground and throws it downward, using its phasing ability against it to force it underground and muffle the explosion. This destroys the Assassin while generating a shockwave that deals damage to nearby enemies and forces other Assassins to emerge from the ground stunned. Used before an Assassin self-destructs.
Duel Stance (デュエルバウト Dyueru Bauto?, lit. "Duel Bout") Sora must select "The End" (ジ・エンド Ji Endo?) in the menu bar before time is up to slash through the Samurai, but if too much time passes, Sora will lose the duel and be slashed. In the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, the player has to hit the "O" in the menu bar to slash through the Samurai; hitting any one of the three "X's" or not hitting at all will result otherwise. A similar, non-reaction command version is used against Roxas in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. Used against Samurai when they kneel.
Stop Dice (ダイスストップ Daisu Sutoppu?, lit. "Dice Stop") Begins game in which the player has to hit the menu command O. Three commands change to X and one to O, and they rotate through the menu. If you fail, Sora is turned into a die. Success, however earns you munny and stuns any nearby Gamblers. Used against Gamblers. The Reaction Command can be triggered once a Gambler stands in one spot and makes its dice hover (there will be a dark aura surrounding it.).
Begin Game (ゲームスタート Gēmu Sutāto?, lit. "Game Start") Begins game where player has to hit Triangle at the right timing (when the reaction command says O. It will toggle between O and X.). If you fail, Sora is turned into a card by the Gambler. Success, however earns you munny and stuns any nearby Gamblers. Against Luxord, it depletes his Time Gauge by a small amount while stunning him, clears the arena of any of his cards, and causes him to drop a large amount of HP orbs. Used against Gamblers and Luxord. The Reaction Command can be triggered if a Gambler stops and twirls the cards around.
Berserk (バーサク Bāsaku?) Sora grabs a Berserker's Weapon (or Saïx's Claymore) and ride above it while his head is covered in a black and red aura, indicating a berserk state. The player can control the weapon's movement with Sora riding in it. Any nearby enemy will be pulled by the weapon like the Magnet magic. Used against a Berserker or Saïx when their weapon/Claymore is dropped.
Eclipse (ストライド Sutoraido?, lit. "Stride") Sora, holding a Berserker or Saïx's claymore, flips backwards and hits the enemy. The combo can be continued for two more attacks. Each attack deals half the normal attack damage. Used against Saïx or Berserkers.
Magna Storm (マグナストーム Maguna Sutōmu?) A follow-up command after the use of Berserk reaction command. Sora does a combo starting from the ground until mid-air, hitting the enemies nearby and the ones that got pulled by the weapon. This command is also used to neutralize Saïx's berserk state. Used against a Berserker or Saïx after the Berserk command.
Dispel (デスペル Desuperu?) When trapped in the lexicon, Sora strikes the lexicon Zexion is hiding in, freeing himself from the illusionary arena inside the book. Causes damage.

Can also be used in the Pride Lands against Shaman Heartless. The Command appears when a series of blue flames attack and encircle Sora, and Dispel allows Sora to use them against his enemies by tackling, simultaneously pushing the flames away; if used enough times, the flames will grow in size and damage enemies separate of Sora.

Used against Zexion as Absent Silhouette in the Underworld - Cave of the Dead (Inner Chamber) and his Data Battle, and a Shaman in the Pride Lands.
Struggle (あがく Agaku?) When trapped by Vexen in a block of ice, Sora can weaken the ice by repeatedly using Struggle. When trapped by Zexion in the lexicon and then trapped again, Sora can attempt to break free of the damaging spell with Struggle as well. Used against Zexion's Absent Silhouette, Zexion's Data Replica, Vexen's Absent Silhouette, and Vexen's Data Replica.
Reset (リセット Risetto?) A follow-up command after the use of Struggle reaction command against Zexion. After breaking free of the second lexicon, Sora automatically flies with high-speed towards the lexicon containing Zexion, before Dispel becomes automatically available regardless of the lexicon's health level. Used against Zexion as Absent Silhouette in the Underworld - Cave of the Dead (Inner Chamber) and his Data Battle.
Merge (アザーブレイク Azā Bureiku?, lit. "Other Break") Sora grabs Larxene by the wrist and throws her into the air behind him. He then grabs her clone, also by the wrist, and rapidly spins around her, generating enough speed to lift her up off the floor and have her spin around him. He hurls the clone at the original Larxene as she falls back down, causing them to forcibly merge and stunning her for a short time. Used against Larxene as Absent Silhouette in Port Royal - Isla de Muerta: Rock Face and her Data Battle.
Mega Impact (メガインパクト Mega Inpakuto?) Sora jumps back as his "Power Meter" increases to an amount 100 points more than Lexaeus's (equal if Lexaeus's power is 99999, the maximum), Sora then slides quickly into Lexaeus, slamming him with a massive uppercut and stunning him for a while. Used against Lexaeus as Absent Silhouette in Twilight Town - Sandlot and his Data Battle.
Restore Count (ロブカウント Robu Kaunto?, lit. "Rob Count") Sora evades Marluxia's slash and knocks his scythe out of his hands with the Keyblade. After grabbing the scythe, Sora slices Marluxia a few times, knocking him away. Sora then throws the scythe towards Marluxia, damaging him and earning back thirteen countdown numerals. In the Data Battle, the number of countdown numerals is cut in half for each successive use. Used against Marluxia as Absent Silhouette in Beast's Castle - Beast's Room and his Data Battle.
Aerial Strike (エアトランプル Ea Toranpuru?, lit. "Air Trample") Sora jumps over Marluxia's downward slash, lands on then leaps from his scythe, and knocks him into the air and across the arena. This attack deals heavy damage (2 to 4 bars of Marluxia's health, depending on the Keyblade used and level). Note that this attack does not increase the counter.
