Gopher is a resident of the 100 Acre Wood and a friend of Pooh. Though the 100 Acre Wood appears in previous games, Gopher does not appear until Kingdom Hearts II.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

Gopher first appears at Piglet's House warning Pooh of "Windsday". Later, he helps Sora search the Spooky Cave for Pooh. Before Sora leaves the 100 Acre Wood, Gopher is present at Starry Hill to say goodbye to Sora.

During the Hunny Slider mini-game, Gopher helps by acting as a buffer between Pooh and pieces of wood or other obstacles.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Design[edit]

Gopher is an anthropomorphic gopher with grey fur over most of his body. His upper lip and belly are both light grey, and his hands, feet, tail, and nose are all black. He has rather thick legs, but very thin wrists. He has three toes on each foot and four fingers on each hand. Gopher has two large, white, bucked teeth and three black whiskers on either side of his upper lip; this causes him to whistle whenever he talks. He also has black eyes and small ears.

Personality[edit]

Gopher has a very plain personality; he is rarely seen outside of his burrow, so not much is known about him socially. He is generally a hard-worker, especially in his tunnels and spends most of his time tediously working on them. Despite his low social life, Gopher is not a silent character; while talking to the other animals he has a habit of whistling out his sibilant constants.

Origin[edit]

Gopher first appeared in Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. When Pooh becomes stuck in Rabbit's door, Gopher appears and introduces himself, calling himself an "excavation expert", but states he is out for lunch. Gopher then takes out a lunchbox filled with sandwiches and honey, which Pooh desires to have. Gopher willingly gives Pooh a bit of honey only until Rabbit jumps out of his house sticking a sign up and yelling, "Don't feed the bear!" Gopher then leaves, but promptly falls down his own hole.

Throughout the series, Gopher maintains his small role, such as being the one who must cut down the Christmas tree in Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too.

Gopher is the only character in 100 Acre Wood who did not appear in the original books (which he references when he debuts).
