Kingdom Hearts II
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003)

A very talented swordsmith. As a boy, Will was rescued at sea after pirates burned his ship and left him to drown. About the same time he was rescued, the pirate medallion his father had given him disappeared.

Young Elizabeth Swann was aboard the ship that rescued Will, and they've been friends ever since. As Elizabeth's father is governor of Port Royal, Will is a bit shy and rather formal around her.
Kingdom Hearts III
Pirates: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)

A young man from Port Royal, and a friend of Jack's. We know Will from our past adventures.

We were reunited with Will as he and the others came to rescue Jack from Davy Jones' Locker.
"Of course... Don't you see? It wasn't your blood they needed... it was my father's blood—My blood. The blood... of a pirate."
—Will to Elizabeth

William "Will" Turner is the son of William "Bootstrap Bill" Turner Sr. and one of the many Disney characters that Sora and company meet on their adventures in Kingdom Hearts II. He originated in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

Will first approaches Sora, Donald, and Goofy after the town is cleared of Heartless and tells them about Elizabeth Swann's kidnapping by Barbossa. Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Will approach Captain Jack Sparrow and ask him to sail them all to the Isla de Muerta, where the pirates have taken Elizabeth. Jack and Will sneak in the cave, but Will knocks Jack out with an oar and renders him unconscious. Will gets Elizabeth away from the pirates and takes her back to the boat where Sora and company are waiting they then set sail for Port Royal, leaving Jack behind.

Turner about to give his own life
Will threatens to take his own life to make Barbossa release his friends.

While mending Elizabeth's wound, Will learns that the pirates need his blood, not Elizabeth's, to lift the curse after Elizabeth retells the story of how she found Will. The Black Pearl catches up to the Interceptor and in order to save his friends, Will threatens to take his own life if Barbossa doesn't let them go. Barbossa agrees, but ties everyone up in the captain's quarters aboard the Interceptor and places explosives and Heartless on the deck. Jack sets them all free with his hidden knife and with Sora's help, manages to save the ship and give chase to the pirates. On the island, Sora, Jack, Donald, and Goofy defeat Barbossa and Will lifts the curse so Jack can finally kill him. Barbossa's crew members are either killed or thrown in jail and Jack, Sora, Donald, Goofy, Will, and Elizabeth sail back to Port Royal and Will and Elizabeth share an embrace.

Prior to the trio's second visit, Port Royal is once again haunted by cursed pirates (and Nobodies). Will gathers volunteers and they sail to the Isle De Muerta to check on the treasure. Upon arriving, Will's crew is wiped out by a mysterious man in a black coat and his cohorts. Will, almost dead, makes it back to the boat and attempts to sail back home.

Sora, Donald, and Goofy arrive, and Elizabeth asks them to sail with her to go find Will. After Jack tags along, they find Will's ship floating in the middle of the ocean and Will unconscious. After Will explains what happened, Luxord appears and summons the Grim Reaper, which blows Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jack to another ship. After the ship sinks, they end up in the ship graveyard where they are picked up by Will and Elizabeth. They all sail around the world's locations to locate the medallions Luxord stole.

After Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jack defeat the Grim Reaper, Will and the others throw the chest with the cursed gold into the sea, thereby lifting the curse and assuring it will never be brought about again.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Will goes with Elizabeth, Barbossa, Joshamee Gibbs, and Tia Dalma to Davy Jones' Locker in order to rescue Jack, after Davy Jones sent the Kraken after him. There, Will and the others reunite with Jack, Sora, Donald, and Goofy, all aboard the Black Pearl. Will and Elizabeth fill them in on the situation and inform Jack that the Brethren Court has been called. After some convincing, Jack agrees to set sail with them. Once they return to the living world, the Pearl is attacked by the Heartless. Though Sora defeats them, he, along with Donald and Goofy, become separated. Sometime later, Will finds himself captured by Davy Jones.

On a small island, Will is brought along by Cutler Beckett and Davy Jones, where the three of them meet with Elizabeth, Jack, and Barbossa. Elizabeth persuades them to exchange Will's slavery for Jack's, and Jack is taken along with Beckett and Jones. Will and Elizabeth then reunite with Sora, Donald, and Goofy, explaining what has happened to Jack and Tia Dalma. After Elizabeth's speech, Will and the others prepare to take the battle to Jones and the Flying Dutchman, sailing into the maelstrom.

During the battle, Will boards the Dutchman and attempts to take the chest, but is knocked aside by the Kraken. Davy Jones duels with Elizabeth and overpowers her; however, Will stabs Jones from behind, only to lose his weapon in Davy Jones' unharmed body. Jones then mortally wounds Will, causing Elizabeth to become distraught and enrages Sora and friends. However, Jack helps guide Will's hand and stabs the heart, killing Davy Jones. As Will succumbs to his wound, Jack cryptically tells Sora that the Dutchman must have a captain.

Before the Black Pearl could face Beckett's ship, the Endeavour, the Flying Dutchman rises from the depths with a restored Will at the wheel. Now in command of the Dutchman, he sails against the Endeavour and destroys it with the combined firepower of the Pearl, killing Cutler Beckett. However, while the battle was won, Will is now forever bound to the Flying Dutchman, only being able to spend one day with Elizabeth every ten years.

Sometime after Xehanort's defeat, Will leaves on his ship as he looks back at Elizabeth, who watches him from afar as he sails into the horizon, disappearing in a green flash.

Design[edit]

Will has shoulder-length brown hair that is slicked back, brown eyes, and a faint mustache and goatee.

In Kingdom Hearts II, he wears a white shirt with bishop sleeves and a v-neck, exposing his chest. The collar of this shirt is folded over a brown vest that is only halfway buttoned at the bottom. The vest sports a small pocket on either side, below a brown belt with a gold buckle that Will wears at his waist. Will's pants are dark grey or navy blue breeches with three vertical buttons on the far side of either leg. Completing his outfit are light grey knee-high socks and brown buckled shoes.

In Kingdom Hearts III, he wears swashbuckling attire.

Personality[edit]

Will is a courageous man, shown prominently when he threatens to sacrifice himself on Barbossa's ship if the pirates won't release Elizabeth, Sora, Donald and Goofy. Will is also a caring person. He cares about Elizabeth in particular, but also quickly befriends and assists relative strangers like Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Despite having a great dislike of pirates, he begins to show signs of caring for Jack Sparrow as well over the course of the story.
