There are five different types of fruits, and each fruit behaves differently:

*'''Bananas''': If they take too much damage, they split into banana peels. If you step on them, you'll be stunned for a short time. Rotate the analog stick to speed up the recovery process. Always try to spike the dangerous fruits to increase the odds of them breaking up on your opponent's side of the court.

*'''Grapes''': When they take a certain amount of damage, they'll break off into smaller grapes, each individual grape can score a goal.
*'''Watermelons''': There is a chance that, if they hit you, you'll be stunned. Rotate the analog stick to speed up the recovery process.
*'''Pineapples''': Pineapples can stun you if they hit you. You can rotate the analog stick to speed up the recovery process.
*'''Apples''': Apples have no special effects.

Fruitball minigame

Fruitball (フルーツスキャッター Furūtsu Sukyattā?, lit. "Fruit Scatter") is a minigame in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep that can be played in Disney Town. In Fruitball, players try to hit fruit into the opponent's goal.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]

Aqua arrives in Disney Town and is greeted by Pete, posing as the hero Captain Justice. Horace Horsecollar comes running for help as Unversed have taken over the Fruitball court. Pete runs away in fear of battling monsters, and Aqua volunteers to help. After Aqua beats the Unversed in a game of Fruitball, Horace and Minnie come to thank her.

Mechanics[edit]

Each Fruitball match takes 3 minutes. During the match, pieces of fruit are dropped on both sides of the centerline. Different actions can be used to send fruit in various directions. Fruit can also be knocked in the air before sending it at the opponent's side. Airborne fruit can be knocked back with a smash when prompted. Fruit will disappear if left alone for 5 seconds. Both sides' goals will move from left to right, and up and down. Occassionally, nets will appear on the centerline, bouncing back fruit that flies against it. Once the time is up, the side with the highest score wins. In the case of a tie, a Sudden Death is held, making the first side to score a point the victor.

Controls[edit]

  • Triangle: Bump (リフティング Rifutingu?, lit. "Lifting"): Knock fruit into the air.
  • Square: Curve (カーブ Kābu?): Hit the fruit with a spin, making it bounce off of the wall. Can be aimed left or right with Left Stick.
  • X (Circle in the Japanese version): Shoot (シュート Shūto?): Hit the fruit straight ahead. Can be aimed left or right with Left Stick. Aiming up causes the fruit to fly along the ground, while aiming down causes the fruit to fly over the opponent's head.
  • Triangle: Smash (スマッシュ! Sumasshu!?): Can only be used when the "Triangle PRESS" prompt appears after the opponent sends a fruit flying through the air. Smashes the fruit towards the opponent's goal.
After using Bump
  • Triangle: Smash (スマッシュ! Sumasshu!?): Hit the fruit towards the opponent.
  • Square: Fast Curve (カーブ! Kābu?, lit. "Curve!"): Hit the fruit with a spin, making it bounce off of the wall. Can be aimed left or right with Left Stick. Aiming up causes the fruit to fly down, while aiming down causes it to fly upwards.
  • X (Circle in the Japanese version): Fast Shot (シュート! Shūto!?, lit. "Shoot!"): Hit the fruit straight ahead. Can be aimed left or right with Left Stick.
