Need proof that size matters? Wait till one of these juggernauts lays down the hurt with its high-octane attacks. Their shock waves have a lot of range, so be sure to keep your distance. All that extra weight is bound to tucker a Bruiser out. Wait for signs of fatigue, then put the big guy to sleep.

The Bruiser is an Unversed that is found in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.

Design[edit]

A Bruiser is a large, bottom-heavy creature with predominantly blue skin. Its feet curl up at the toes and its conical arms end in round, silver, mitten-like hands. Its head is spherical and sports two long antennae that hook upward sharply. The Bruiser's midsection is black with white highlights and is lined by triangular patterns resembling teeth. Its red eyes are set in a happy expression and the Unversed symbol is emblazoned on its belly.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, the blue areas on the Bruiser's body are mostly recolored with shades of purple, while the silver parts of its body become a faded copper color.

A "bruiser" is a strong, tough person, referring to the Bruiser's large size and strength. The root of the word, "bruise", could refer to this Unversed's black-and-blue coloration.

Strategy[edit]

A Bruiser may be large, but it isn't hard to defeat. It has three attacks: smacking players with its hands, charging at players with a glowing belly, or bouncing around creating shockwaves wherever it lands. It's hard to stagger with physical attacks, but Shotlocks, Reprisals, and all status effects are highly effective. Magnet or Zero Gravity can be used to leave them helpless to attack - alternatively, use Confuse if facing a group, as it will often use its Jump Attack to hit surrounding enemies for high damage.

Attacks[edit]

  • One-Two Punch (ワンツーパンチ Wan-Tsū Panchi?): A one-two punch used at close range.
  • Jump Attack (ジャンプアタック Jampu Atakku?): Bounces in place, creating a shockwave when it lands.
  • Hip Attack (ヒップアタック Hippu Atakku?): Runs towards players before flinging itself forwards hip-first, launching targets and dealing multiple hits.
  • Rush (突進 Tosshin?): Charges at players with a glowing belly, knocking the player back if it hits.
