Anastasia and Drizella are two of the antagonists of the Castle of Dreams in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Union χ. They are Lady Tremaine's daughters, and Cinderella's evil stepsisters, and would do everything in their power to make anyone's lives miserable, especially Cinderella's. Their goal in life is to marry the handsome Prince Charming. They originate from the Disney film, Cinderella, but despite being the film's main antagonists, they are not a boss in the Kingdom Hearts series.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Union χ[edit]

In the data version of Castle of Dreams, the story of the original film is retold. This includes the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine abusing Cinderella, forcing Cinderella into doing chores as a scullery maid. This includes the events where each of the stepsisters were to try on the glass slipper, presented by the Grand Duke.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]

When a ball is held at the Castle of Dreams, all unmarried women are invited for the prince to find a bride. The two and Lady Tremaine attempt to keep Cinderella from going along by giving her endless chores to finish and preventing her from finding a suitable dress. When Ventus and Jaq make one for her, Anastasia and Drizella tear it apart, accusing Cinderella for stealing their materials to create her gown.

However, their plot failed when the Fairy Godmother makes a new dress for her and a pumpkin carriage to transport her to the ball. They are unable to identify Cinderella during the party as she is too far away from them to see her. They are jealous at having to watch the Prince dance with an unknown woman, as well as their hatred of the said woman, contributed to the summoning of several Unversed in the balcony above them, including the Symphony Master, which was defeated by Terra.

The stepsisters jealous and annoyed the Prince wishes to see Cinderella.

After the ball, Prince Charming asks the Grand Duke to search for Cinderella with the glass slipper. When he finally reaches their house, they attempt to make the shoe fit their oversized feet, but Cinderella proves to be the true owner of the slipper. The Duke takes Cinderella with him back to the Castle, only to be confronted by Lady Tremaine and a powerful Unversed who intend to murder Cinderella, knowing that she is now free from them. This act, however, causes the three women to be hit by one of the Unversed's attacks. Aqua mentions they were overtaken by the darkness in their hearts.

Designs[edit]

Anastasia is a thin young woman with a round face and nose and creases on either side of her nose, the latter a feature she shares with her mother and sister. Her skin is pale and she has brown eyes. Her hair is long, orange, and worn with short, neatly-cut bangs over her forehead and several curls in the back. Anastasia is only seen in her formal attire during Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. This consists of a ballroom gown colored mostly in shades of pink with a violet top and choker, as well as two pink, puffy, disk-like pieces of cloth over her shoulders. She also wears a headband with a large, pale green feather on it.

Drizella is a thin young woman with a round face, and equally round nose, and swollen-looking cheeks. She has the same creases on the sides of her nose that her mother and sister have, as well as brown eyes and hair. She wears her hair with parted bangs and several roughly shoulder-length curls in the back. Drizella is only seen wearing her formal attire in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, which consists of a light green ballroom gown with a turquiose top and cloth draped over the back. The lower half of her gown balloons outward slightly and she wears two puffy, light green disk-like pieces of cloth on her shoulders. She also wears a turquoise choker and a headband adorned with a large feather of the same color.

Personalities[edit]

The sisters being bystanders as Cinderella is attacked.

Both women are sociopaths, and have no regards or empathy for anyone in general. They are spoiled, selfish, snobbish, cruel, and rather lazy, forcing Cinderella to do all of the housework. The sisters often fight with each other, sometimes over trivial things such as clothing. They are most heartless towards their stepsister Cinderella, whom they loathe because of her natural beauty. Both strictly adhere to their mother's guidance and ways, no matter how wicked or cruel the deed. They both seem somewhat sadistic, laughing evilly as Cinderella is attacked by the Cursed Coach.

Anastasia, according to her journal entry, takes pride in her skill as a flutist, despite not actually having any talent.

Drizella, according to her journal entry, has a poor singing voice; unimproved despite taking expensive lessons.

According to the Fairy Godmother, both of their hearts are full of darkness and completely devoid of any light.

Origin[edit]

Anastasia and Drizella first appeared in the 1950 Disney film, Cinderella. They are cruel and unkind to Cinderella, and do not want her to go to the ball. When the footman tries to fit the glass slipper on each of their feet, they at first claim their own foot fits, but it does not. They later appear in the film's sequels, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, as well as the television series, Disney's House of Mouse.

In the sequels, Anastasia gradually becomes nicer and less antagonistic as she attempts to find her own true love, going from an antagonist in the first film to a protagonist in the third film, with her mother trying to get Prince Charming to fall in love with her.
