Aero (element)
Aero (エアロ, Earo?), often referred to as Wind, is an element that appears in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. The Aero element is associated with the Gust material and the Air-toss status effect. It is the opposite of Thunder. While other games in the Kingdom Hearts series include wind-type abilities and attacks, such as Aero magic and Tornado, the damage they inflict is non-elemental. ContentsAttacks and abilities[edit]In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, the player character can use attacks that use the Aero element, most prominently Aero magic. In Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, other Aero-element attacks are also available to the player, such as Tornado, Aero Raid, and Cyclone, and the power of Aero attacks and resistance to Aero damage can be raised through equipping Stat Chips. Some enemies in Re:coded can use attacks that inflict Aero damage. In other games in the Kingdom Hearts series, party members and enemies may use attacks and abilities that use wind, including Aero magic and Tornado; however, they do not inflict Aero damage. Some party members can use Aero spells, either fully original moves or variations of Aero magic. In Kingdom Hearts II, it is only available to enemies, particularly Xaldin. Kingdom Hearts Re:coded[edit]
Aero Resistance[edit]Aero Resistance is a stat that appears in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Increasing it will reduce the amount of damage taken from Aero attacks. Aero Resistance is increased by equipping Aero Resistance Stat Chips in the Stat Matrix (see above). In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Wind Resistance only protects against the wind-toss status, not against Aero damage. Accessories and armor[edit]
Enemies[edit]Enemies that use Aero-element attacks are generally resistant to Aero damage, and some even absorb it to heal themselves. Aero-element attacks tend to be effective against thunder-themed enemies. Enemies that use the Aero element[edit]

Themes and other appearances[edit]Several recurring elements in the Kingdom Hearts series incorporate Aero or wind into their design or conceptualization. Aero magic utilizes wind, but it does not inflict Aero damage aside from Aero magic in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Similarly, Wind Raid, Tornado, Tornado Strike, and Windcutter are skills that utilize wind, although they do not inflict Aero damage. The air-toss status effect is closely associated with Aero, especially in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, in which Aero-themed equipment, abilities and accessories allow the player to inflict enemies with or protect the player from being air-tossed. The Gust synthesis materials are said to contain the essence of wind. Most Wing Gummi blocks in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II are named after Aero magic and wind-related terms, and Aero Gummis are a type of Material Gummi that increase a Gummi Ship's mobility. Certain weapons and accessories are associated with Aero. The Wayward Wind is wielded by Ventus, who is himself associated with wind. Many of Xaldin's lances are given names associated with wind or air. Goofy's Seven Elements, which represents the seven types of magic appearing in Kingdom Hearts, includes a circular portion adorned with a green spiral, representing Aero. The accessories that protect specifically against air-tossing are named after wind-related terms. Origin[edit]Wind is a recurring element in the Final Fantasy series. Its basic spell is Aero, and it is often opposed to Earth. See also[edit] |
