Chapter 31: Step Out is the thirty-first chapter in the Kingdom Hearts II manga.
The front page shows a close-up of Sora and Kairi's faces, with Kairi's lucky charm between them, and the Destiny Islands in the background.
Story[edit]
Aboard the Gummi Ship, Sora thinks about how Queen Minnie has been without King Mickey for a time, and resolves to save the worlds so they can reunite, and he and Riku can reunite with Kairi. In The World That Never Was, Pluto spots Axel and wants to follow him, but gets called by a man in a black coat. Axel sneaks into the castle to get a new coat. He spots a security camera and destroys it, which sets off an alarm, and causes him to be surrounded by Dusks and Creepers. While fighting them, he reminisces about Roxas. At Where Nothing Gathers, Xemnas allows Saïx to take care of Axel.
On Destiny Islands, Kairi is standing on the shore, thinking about Sora, when Axel appears through a Corridor of Darkness. He tries to get Kairi to go with him, summoning Dusks to help him, but she runs away. Then, Pluto appears and knocks down Axel, leading Kairi away through another Corridor of Darkness. While following Pluto through the Corridor of Darkness, Kairi spots a man in a black coat behind her. Kairi wakes up in Twilight Town, meeting Hayner, Pence, and Olette.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy arrive in Agrabah, and walk through a marketplace. The Peddler tries to sell them a lamp, but they ignore him. Then, Pete shows interest in the lamp, and when the Peddler mentions a genie living inside it, Pete buys the lamp. Iago worriedly flies away.
