Chapter 33: Battle for the Lamp is the thirty-third chapter in the Kingdom Hearts II manga.
Story[edit]
While searching the desert, Goofy spots the lamp. As Iago grabs hold of it, the Cave of Wonders Guardian emerges from the sand and swallows him. Not liking the taste, it tasks Sora and the others with entering its mouth and removing it. Pete looks on from afar, and enters after them. As they pass heaps of treasure, Aladdin warns them not to touch it. Pete, however, greedily grabs any treasure he finds, causing the cave to start to collpase. While looking for a way out, Sora find Iago and the lamp, and notices Pete flying away with the help of a Hook Bat. Seeing no other option, Sora summons Jafar from the lamp. He refuses at first, but the lamp's magic forces him to grant Sora's wish to get them out of the cave. Once outside, Sora sends Jafar back into the lamp, but Pete swoops by and snatches the lamp from Sora's hands. Pete summons Jafar, who refuses to obey, until Pete suggests taking over the world together, and Jafar lifts up the palace. As Sora and the others hurry back, Genie appears and engages Jafar in a battle. While Pete is watching the fight, Iago manages to take back the lamp, and forces Jafar back into the lamp, dragging Pete with him, and they seal the lamp in a stone chest. Sora apologizes to Iago for not trusting him, and when Iago asks to be friends now that he was useful, Sora explains friendship to him. Aladdin asks if Sora has found his friends yet, and encourages him when Sora shakes his head.
In Twilight Town, Vex Replica No. 44 continues observing Kairi while Hayner, Pence, and Olette try to prepare for her quest to find Sora.
