"Holy Bananas!" is a musical composition by Yoko Shimomura that appears in Kingdom Hearts.

Appearances

Kingdom Hearts

"Holy Bananas!" is the theme that plays during the Jungle Slider mini-game.

Composition

"Holy Bananas!" the approximately two minutes and sixteen seconds long in Kingdom Hearts. In the HD remake, the piece is two minutes and seventeen seconds long.

The in-game versions have a time signature of 4/4 time and tempo of 148 beats per minute.

The piece has a four-measure introduction consisting of drums, mallet percussion, and strings. Starting in measure five, the woodwind section (primarily flutes) and strings become the melodic line. As the piece continues, the strings and synthesizer continue the melodic line while the flute "interrupts" with short, higher pitched rhythms. Throughout the piece, the brass serve only as a chordal accompaniment. The piece lacks a formal conclusion, allowing easy transitions between loops. Each loops is thirty-three measures long.

Similar to the battle theme, the tone throughout this piece is primitive and driving, as heard in the various rhythmic percussion lines and faster tempo. Despite the faster tempo, however, the piece does not share the dynamic contrast as heard in the battle theme. The instrumentation for both versions consists of: strings, flutes, soprano saxophone, brass, drums, crash cymbals, synthesizer, and mallet percussion.
