Kind of confused as to what's going on here.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 14:24, 7 November 2010 (EST)

Let me hear those questions. --Porplemontage 14:29, 7 November 2010 (EST)
  1. Can this be moved to, the site chosen in the forums?
  2. What is the hosting situation (bills, etc.)?
  3. Can we get Monaco, Oasis, and possibly Quartz installed here?
  4. Will you remove your "admin and bureaucrat" user rights once the move is complete?
  5. Can the current bureaucrats for the khwiki (Bluerfn and BebopKate) be given developer status, if that's necessary to install extensions?
  6. Could the syncing be done faster, and more up to date, if we got a full database dump from wikia? We're going to need to overwrite most of the current pages in the end, to get back to where we are now.

(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 12:16, 10 November 2010 (EST)

  1. It could be, but if the Wikia site will be continue to be called "Kingdom Hearts Wiki" it would be easier to build the name Kingdom Hearts Database than compete with the same name. Similar to the WoWWiki, Wowpedia situation.
  2. Hosting/bills are covered.
  3. A skin similar to Monaco may be installed eventually, but we're looking at Monobook for a while.
  4. No. I'm not going to interfere with the other admins but I need the rights.
  5. No, I'll manage the extensions.
  6. This is the complete Wikia dump from Oct 29. Newer dumps can be added on top of it. --Porplemontage 17:06, 10 November 2010 (EST)
  1. Extension-wise, we'd like to be able to install any extensions the community agrees to. If you are going to maintain the servers, can you agree to that?
  2. We would like to know if it would be possible to host other wikis on these servers. Please read this for more details.

Thanks!(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 20:49, 10 November 2010 (EST)

As long as the extension is secure and compatible with our setup, I shouldn't have a problem with it, but I honestly can't make any guarantees. You can check Special:Version for the list of current extensions; if any come to mind as missing we can talk about those now. Regarding other wikis--I deal with these one at a time. I'm not going to start up a bunch of new wikis for the network, but if a wiki community is frustrated and wants to move, I may be able to accommodate them. --Porplemontage 21:27, 10 November 2010 (EST)
  1. We are pretty set on the name "".
  2. Desire to retain Monaco was a big part of the reason for our move, so we would like Monaco installed as soon as possible, possibly followed by Oasis for those who liked it. Without Monaco, the community probably won't move here.
  3. The other wikis we were talking with would also be moving from wikia, and the main issue is that most of our editor-base is shared among these wikis, so we'd like to retain accounts across the system (for example, if an editor gets a talk page message on one wiki, he is notified across all the others). This is not quite as critical as Monaco, but still very important to us.
  4. Extension-wise, what we were planning on was having a page in the forums where users can request new extensions, both new ones and those that other wikis have used successfully. This isn't as critical as Monaco or, but we would like it to happen. When you say you can't make any guarantees, is that more "I'll try, but I might not be physically able to get them all", or "It's my decision"?

Thank you for your continued assistance. Cheers!(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 14:38, 11 November 2010 (EST)

Domain change is easy, but I'm not going to buy another domain unless the move is actually going to happen. Monaco is mangled up with Wikia's code and it's not as easy as just installing it. I read someone over at NIWA was working on making it a normal skin. I can't fix Monaco to work here, so that's up to you or someone else to fix it first. I know how to share a user table among wikis, but not how to get this cross-wiki notification example going. Extensions I'm saying it's my decision because I can't promise you'll get every extension you want; it totally depends on the extension in question. If the extension is small secure reasonable you'll probably get it.--Porplemontage 20:11, 11 November 2010 (EST)

User rights[edit]

I don't want to sound rude, but I should not have bureaucrat rights, only admin. If you could demote me, that would be great, thanks!(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 16:58, 9 February 2011 (EST)

Someone needs to promote everyone to their normal rights. --Porplemontage 17:00, 9 February 2011 (EST)

Sorry, just saw that after I demoted myself. Can you re-burea-me, then I'll promote the people that need it and demote myself again?(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 17:03, 9 February 2011 (EST)

I promoted the three editors that I could, but it won't let me promote anyone who hasn't edited on this wiki. I'm going to try and contact each of our past staff to see if they even plan on coming to this wiki, and if they don't respond soon, I'll just take that as them declining their status at this site. If neither of the current bcrats decides to come here, we'll hold elections to choose who we want to be the new bcrats, and I'll do my demotion after getting the winners of that set up.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 17:24, 9 February 2011 (EST)

Are you the only one who can install extensions? If so, could you install this one, and if not, would I (as an admin and—at least for now—bureaucrat) be able to do it, and how? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 15:34, 13 February 2011 (EST)

The site already uses JS for tabs. For example, Grim Reaper. --Porplemontage 16:23, 13 February 2011 (EST)

Well, that's great and all, but pages like this one need the actual Tabber extension to work. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 16:26, 13 February 2011 (EST)

Maybe one day we'll only use the JS system. --Porplemontage 16:31, 13 February 2011 (EST)

Sure, if the templates can take it. In the meantime, are you the only one who can install extensions? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 16:38, 13 February 2011 (EST)

For real. --Porplemontage 16:44, 13 February 2011 (EST)

I'm bringing this up again because I realize that tabber doesn't work (for at least the past 3/4 months), is it possible to reinstall it or is it just conflicting with other extensions? Erry 14:07, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

It's now time that we just use the JS version, as was discussed here. --Porplemontage (talk) 15:08, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Why is that so? You gave no explanation. Additionally, pages like AR Card are completely, if you'll excuse my language, fucked up. Tabber would make the job so much easier. Erry 16:34, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, allow me to explain. It's easier to maintain the wiki with fewer extensions installed so as we upgrade and things change there is less likely to be compatibility issues. Since the wiki already largely used a JavaScript solution for tabs, it does not make sense to me to have an extra extension installed which does the same thing and is used less. Having JavaScript code and an extension to accomplish the same thing is inefficient because we either have an extension we don't truly need or extra JavaScript code we don't truly need. In addition, it means that there will be only one standard used across the wiki, and I think that consistency is generally good. With regard to that page, I fixed the issue. It was simply a matter of closing the initial div tags which encompass the tab divs. --Porplemontage (talk) 18:07, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Please be monitoring Forum:Bug reports, as you are the only one able to deal with most of them; in particular, we are unable to upload new versions of images, because that same glitch has gotten active here. Thanks!"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 11:55, 16 February 2011 (EST)

I've seen a lot of new versions uploaded already. Many of the bug reports I can't really do anything about. --Porplemontage 12:57, 16 February 2011 (EST)

I managed to contact the people at tfwiki, and it seems as if Monaco should be ready to be installed; at the very least, its skin is. Could you install it as an optional skin for the wiki? If there are any problems with that, could you specify what they are?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 18:52, 17 February 2011 (EST)

Tfwiki customized Monobook to look like Monaco. I've installed a copy of Monobook called Monaco, so we can use MediaWiki:Monaco.css to customize it. --Porplemontage 22:16, 17 February 2011 (EST)
None of the code I've found does anything, except for an old customization of monobook I found on the Transformers Wiki at wikia, which isn't what we're going for. I think that the classes must be named differently or something - I have no skill at css, and without being able to compare what's different between our version of Monobook and tfwiki's, I have nothing to compare, either."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:59, 22 February 2011 (EST)
I did find this and this, though they seem to have some problems to them as well, from what I've heard reported."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 15:24, 22 February 2011 (EST)
Thanks! I think we've got it mostly up to speed again. We can fix the sidebar header images ourselves, but the biggest problem I see is that the sidebar does not tree properly, and that the monobook and monaco sidebars use the same definition. I'm not sure how to make them tree, so if you can fix that I would be grateful, but I think I can make it point at the right sidebar definition article. Thanks!"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 17:05, 22 February 2011 (EST)
Also, is it possible for us to edit the toolbox? And, if possible, I'd like the different sidebar boxes to have rounded external corners, but flat internal corners. Thanks!"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 17:47, 22 February 2011 (EST)
Edit the toolbox how? I don't know how to make the sidebar tree; some sites use JS. --Porplemontage 18:08, 22 February 2011 (EST)
As far as I can tell from reading howto's, to make Monaco default, you'd need to edit LocalSettings.php. Could you do that?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 15:29, 5 May 2011 (EDT)

Sure. --Porplemontage 17:17, 5 May 2011 (EDT)

New Skin[edit]

A user and I have been working on making and organizing a new skin. At this stage, we need access to installing files to the MediaWiki folders, and KrytenKoro told me only you could do that. Would you be willing to do this, please? All details can be found here, thank you. --Ag (Silver) - 47 107.8682 amu ~Crono Vsymbol1.png 23:57, 19 February 2011 (EST)

Yeah. --Porplemontage 01:38, 20 February 2011 (EST)
I've tried modifying the css for roundedblue to use File:wiki-blue.png, but apparently that is only for hover-over. Would you be able to tell me where the regular callout for wiki.png is?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 17:24, 22 February 2011 (EST)

Why is it that this wiki is so slow? It's not just me, and it's only this site; I can load every other page I browse faster than this, even 1080p HD videos on YouTube. Is it a server problem?

[18:10:31] <ErryK> Why is the wiki so slow? <_<
[18:11:15] <ErryK> My internet is speedy and loads all sites faster than it does the KHWiki.
[18:11:14] <Sove> It's the server

And as can be seen here, DTN protests too. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful here, but it's kind of distressing. Any way to remedy this? --Ag (Silver) - 47 107.8682 amu ~Crono Vsymbol1.png 13:15, 21 February 2011 (EST)

It's because of the backed-up job queue. --Porplemontage 13:28, 21 February 2011 (EST)

Group rights[edit]

We would like a few changes to group rights:

  • Administrators: +noratelimit, +suppressredirect
  • Patrollers: +noratelimit, +suppressredirect, -block, -checkuser, -checkuser-log

Also, we would like "Patrollers" changed to "Moderators".

Thanks!"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 21:16, 21 February 2011 (EST)

Seems reasonable. --Porplemontage 21:47, 21 February 2011 (EST)
I missed two of the rights requested; could moderators also have +move-subpages and +movefile? Thanks!"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 10:45, 25 February 2011 (EST)

Developer Status[edit]

Hi Porple, I want to help out with the visual appearance of the site, however I cannot get direct access and I really want to touch up the site. Is it possible I can get Developer status? Even though I was told you'd be the only developer, but you're not awake all the time, it's better to have at least two. Or at least for a temporary time. Erry 14:10, 23 February 2011 (EST)

What files do you want to modify? If you want, you can send me the modified file. --Porplemontage 14:14, 23 February 2011 (EST)
go.gif to Search-Roundedblue-GoButton.png

Erry 14:29, 23 February 2011 (EST)

Changed the last two through CSS. The first are now those wiki images, so if you want to change them just upload new versions. --Porplemontage 14:47, 23 February 2011 (EST)

Can you make the magnifying glass image a wiki-based image? Erry 15:14, 25 February 2011 (EST)

Instead of that, can you replace the magnifying glass with this please? --Ag (Silver) - 47 107.8682 amu ~Crono Vsymbol1.png 20:38, 25 May 2011 (EDT)
I'll do both. --Porplemontage 22:23, 25 May 2011 (EDT)

Monaco Sidebar[edit]

EDITPAGE to see the full conversation.

So, anyway, Soxra (a web designer, literate in JavaScript and CSS) and I were wondering if you could possibly have Monaco run off of MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar instead of MediaWiki:Sidebar. If you have any questions, it would probably be best to direct them towards Soxra, as I am not good with coding. Thanks! KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON. 22:54, 24 February 2011 (EST)

It's not liking the new name. Check out this stuff, you can login with your wikia credentials and switch to monobook. For each item in the normal sidebar, a menu can be made off that. Halopedia monobook js and Sidebar js. --Porplemontage 02:08, 25 February 2011 (EST)

I went ahead and threw the js up so that it can be fiddled with. It seems that the monaco css might need to be manipulated as well (or, more likely, that the js files need to actually know what the other one's named)."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 11:17, 25 February 2011 (EST)

Right in both cases. The code is functioning now, so you can go ahead and customize the menu items/CSS. --Porplemontage 12:19, 25 February 2011 (EST)
When I try to branch out one of the menu items, the branches don't display past the right border of the sidebar. However, on Halopedia they do this easily. Can either you or Soxra figure that out?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 13:24, 25 February 2011 (EST)
Also, must the root item (for example, "Worlds") exist at MediaWiki:Sidebar as well, or can we set up new roots on the js page?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 13:25, 25 February 2011 (EST)

They expand for me. Roots need to be one of the sidebar items. --Porplemontage 14:02, 25 February 2011 (EST)

Alright, I've done some trials (using default CSS) and found something kind of interesting. Despite the sidebar being set up properly, sometimes the sidebar doesn't come up at all:

You can see on the top and bottom right images, the expansion and arrows come up just fine. But on the bottom left, it does not. This seems to be accompanied with the page taking longer to load, perhaps because it can't find the Monaco.js file. I confirmed this through element inspecting in Chrome; for the bottom left example, the resource for "Monaco.js" is not loaded, despite "Monaco.js/Sidebar.js" being loaded. For the other two examples, it loads just fine.

I'm really not sure what can be done about this. As far as I can tell the issue is on the server end, with Monaco.js just not loading properly. The only other thing I can think to do is put the jQuery code in Monaco.js/Sidebar.js instead, though I'm not sure this would work 100% of the time.

As for the content and CSS, we can adjust that pretty simply once everything else is up and running.

I'm headed out for a while, I'll check up on this when I'm back. Soxxeh 8:15pm, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

MyHome extension code[edit]

The extension code can be found here and here. maggosh 14:02, 25 February 2011 (EST)

Yeah, but it's a Wikia extension. --Porplemontage 14:39, 25 February 2011 (EST)
Kryten asked me to link you to it. maggosh 22:35, 27 February 2011 (EST)
What needs to be done to make it usable on this wiki?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:23, 10 March 2011 (EST)
I don't know. --Porplemontage 16:07, 10 March 2011 (EST)

Anyway to add a button for it on the Recent Changes page? --Ag (Silver) - 47 107.8682 amu ~Crono Vsymbol1.png 15:29, 27 February 2011 (EST)

A button for Special:Patrol on something like MediaWiki:Recentchangestext? Of course for the individual items you just hit diff. --Porplemontage 15:34, 27 February 2011 (EST)
No, the individual Patrol button, but on Recent Changes so navigating to the page isn't neccessary. Y'know how you kinda know how some editors don't vandalize? And I mean like the [Rollback] button. --Ag (Silver) - 47 107.8682 amu ~Crono Vsymbol1.png 15:37, 27 February 2011 (EST)
Trusted editors should be placed in the autopatrolled group so you don't have to patrol them. --Porplemontage 15:41, 27 February 2011 (EST)

Walkthrough namespace[edit]

Hey, Kryten asked me to request for you to create a Walkthrough namespace. maggosh 14:22, 10 March 2011 (EST)

Sure. --Porplemontage 16:15, 10 March 2011 (EST)

My editcount is gone[edit]

Hello. I'm here to say that my editcount is gone. It was reverted to 0. Compare the one in this Wiki with Wikia's and you'll see. Also, the problem must be recent because when we first moved, I made sure to check my editcount here and it was fine. Is there any way to fix this? Demonic Saint 18:50, 10 March 2011 (EST)

I'm seeing some edits: 126. Let's wait on the job queue. --Porplemontage 18:58, 13 March 2011 (EDT)

Block settings[edit]

Hi, Kryten told me to inform you that we don't have a "allow user to edit talk page" option under Block. He would like you to apply it as an option, and amend his own block so he is able to edit as such. Thank you. maggosh 18:50, 13 March 2011 (EDT)

Sure, but why did he block himself? --Porplemontage 18:55, 13 March 2011 (EDT)
Forum:Oasis, that's why. --Sove 18:59, 13 March 2011 (EDT)

I Have Something To Ask You[edit]

Hello. I'm UxieLover1994 of the Spyro Wiki. We moved to ShoutWiki late last year due to the Wikia skin, but now ShoutWiki's playing up, and I've not edited there for about a week. I thought they would be better than Wikia, but I was wrong. I regret this move, and now I'm thinking of becoming independet. I'm kindly asking if you could help us, please?

I'm the main administrator over there, and I have been active since March 2010. UxieLover1994 02:43, 21 March 2011 (EDT)

I'll take a look when it's back up but I can't commit to hosting it. If you decide to host yourself I can assist there. --Porplemontage 13:45, 21 March 2011 (EDT)
I would like to host it myself, but I'm unable to pay for it. Is there a way to avoid paying, even if it means advertising for other websites? And thank you for your assistance. If the ShoutWiki site does not come back by March 30th, you might have to visit Wikia's version. I'm trying to change the wiki to make it more Spyro-themed, so I won't mind restarting. UxieLover1994 01:44, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
Oh, and one more thing: we want Monaco, as well. UxieLover1994 01:56, 22 March 2011 (EDT)

Google Adsense may be best to offset the cost but you need a bit of traffic. --Porplemontage 16:50, 24 March 2011 (EDT)

Can you give me a link? (Sorry I've not replyed). Also, if ShoutWiki's not back by tomorrow night, well, who knows what will happen... UxieLover1994 08:41, 29 March 2011 (EDT)
Adsense - you'd need to get the website going before you sign up. --Porplemontage 08:45, 29 March 2011 (EDT)
Thanks, but it says I need an Adsense E-mail account (though I already have a Google Account), and I've already got two E-mail accounts. I don't want a third, y'know. Is this really needed. UxieLover1994 08:51, 29 March 2011 (EDT)

It's a long-term thing. It's not going to help you get the site going. --Porplemontage 14:09, 29 March 2011 (EDT)

What do you mean? (And I think it's better off you visit Wikia's site. ShoutWiki has been destroyed) UxieLover1994 05:40, 30 March 2011 (EDT)

Mind Made Up[edit]

I've made up my mind (Sorry it took a while); we will move to our own host (with adds, since I'm unable to pay for stuff on the internet). ShoutWiki will be back online soon (hopefully). But I still need a lot of help. Can you explain more? (I'm currently the only active member there at the moment, so that's one reason why I need help). UxieLover1994 05:00, 10 April 2011 (EDT)

Well, have you started looking at webhosts? --Porplemontage 05:04, 10 April 2011 (EDT)
Yes, but I cannot use, since I'm unable to afford it. Is there another way, or is it hopeless to start an indepenet wiki on my own? If there is, can you tell me? I'm being very positive. UxieLover1994 05:10, 10 April 2011 (EDT)
I'd say start with shared hosting; I've used this company and didn't have any issues. You can get a domain from GoDaddy for $7/year. I don't know of a way to go without making purchases online. --Porplemontage 05:18, 10 April 2011 (EDT)
But even then, I would have to pay. It's no use. I'm just going to stay with the crashing ShoutWiki until someone who can afford it joins the Spyro Wiki. I'm so sorry I got you in on all this. UxieLover1994 05:26, 10 April 2011 (EDT)

I'm trying to get the sidebar fixed, and I think I've found the main issue with the last try. However, I've noticed that the font-size of the cells increases the further into a tree I go, and I can't find any obvious controls for that action in order to fix it. Could you take a look at it?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 13:50, 24 March 2011 (EDT)

I think the font is fixed. The submenus are not always working for me now though. Also the other language links to Wikia--it's probably not best to send traffic to Wikia--it's a black hole, they are not linking here. --Porplemontage 16:50, 24 March 2011 (EDT)

Math extension[edit]

I'm not sure what's entailed with this, but I'd like to have the "math" extension that wikipedia uses. If that's not possible, I can use image substitutes, but I'd prefer the math extension."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 20:53, 15 April 2011 (EDT)

Sorry, but there's a lot that goes into getting that to work, and it's really not worth all the trouble. Using images will have to suffice. --Porplemontage 22:40, 15 April 2011 (EDT)

Humble question...[edit]

How would you feel about moving the Chronopedia (this) like you did the KH Wiki? If not, do you know anybody who can or is willing to? Thanks. --Ag (Silver) - 47 107.8682 amu ~Crono Vsymbol1.png 19:59, 12 May 2011 (EDT)

Sorry, but I'm really not looking to host more wikis right now. I don't know anyone specifically who would help, but you can try posting at NIWA to see if they have any advice. --Porplemontage 12:07, 14 May 2011 (EDT)

You can change the favicon, yes? If you can, can you replace it with this?

Erry 02:56, 29 May 2011 (EDT)
Sure, and it looks really nice. --Porplemontage 03:02, 29 May 2011 (EDT)

Bots plus[edit]

What are our options for bots? Could we get AutoWikiBrowser?

Also, how much can we do to the script for the search bar? Could we make it like Wikipedia's, which shows redirects with the suggestions only if the article name isn't one of the suggestions? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 22:15, 31 May 2011 (EDT)

Bots - You can do whatever you like. I personally don't know much about them, but on my other wikis users have been able to use them just fine. They are something you manage on your end. AWB - I read that's for Windows, so it looks like you use it on your own computer, not something I would have to install. For the search, we're using MW:Manual:$wgEnableMWSuggest with MW:Extension:TitleKey. I'm not sure what we would modify, exactly. --Porplemontage 23:07, 31 May 2011 (EDT)

I noticed today that recently created forums aren't showing up in the forum indexes. KrytenKoro says this has been the case ever since we moved from Wikia. I even tried clearing my cache and refreshing several times, to no avail. Based on the timestamps on the forums in the index, it's taking about three or four days for a newly created forum to be put into the index. I'm not sure what the issue is, but do you think you might be able to fix it? This would greatly help draw attention to forums that need it. Thanks! --DTN Room Core.png 04:42, 25 June 2011 (EDT)

I've added links to refresh the page for now. --Porplemontage 05:51, 25 June 2011 (EDT)

Do you think you could install the widget extension as well as the soundcloud widget? Erry 21:32, 1 July 2011 (EDT)

Got it. Just keep in mind that local OGG files are ideal since they don't depend on another site to provide content. --Porplemontage 12:09, 2 July 2011 (EDT)
Thanks! But yeah, but we mostly use the .ogg files for game tracks. I don't want to fill the site with redundant tracks that'll only be used in the MA. Erry 14:01, 20 July 2011 (EDT)

Extension request[edit]

We are having an "image purging" but the process becomes tiresome because all the images needs to be deleted manually (go to the file, click delete, give reason and confirm etc. for every image), so I got an idea and found this extension:

This extension would make the deletion process faster and much more finger sparing as admins only need to copypaste the filenames (File namespace is still needed, of course) and confirm, the script deletes all of the listed pages.

This extension is bureaucrat only by default so you would need to enable it for admins too, which is an easy task.

--Sove 11:00, 25 July 2011 (EDT)

I generally stay away from beta-tagged ones unless we absolutely need it. On top of that, you'll read on the talk page that it doesn't delete files properly. Someone has posted a fix on there, but I don't want to risk it on a big production wiki likes ours. --Porplemontage 21:56, 25 July 2011 (EDT)

UTC Timezone[edit]

Do you think it's possible for you to change the time that shows in signatures and edits to UTC? Because it's set to EDT... We've been wanting to solve this ever since we moved here. Erry 14:51, 7 August 2011 (EDT)

Sure thing. --Porplemontage 19:00, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

New usergroup[edit]

Hi, this was decided in the Roundtable of July or June that we would make a new group that is specifically made for the Image Renovation Project. We need a group that has all powers that relate to images, such as moving and deleting them. Once it is decided you can refer to this forum and add users who have signed their signatures.

Specifically these rights:

  • delete
  • movefile
  • suppressredirect

Erry 02:44, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Call it "Artists", please. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 02:52, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Ok; I'll let the bureaucrats place the appropriate users since it's within their power. --Porplemontage 02:56, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Related questions, is there a list of all the available individual rights, and are there rights that are not lists on the Special:UserGroupRights page? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 03:15, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Yeah; here is everything. --Porplemontage 03:21, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Multiple Upload[edit]

I'm not sure if this is fixable, but for multiple uploads, only the first image can be taken from a url, instead of all of them."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:33, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Also, I'm having trouble using the URL thing. On the multiple upload, it simply says the image is empty, while on the regular upload, I have to make a failed attempt to upload the file from the "browse" bar before it will let me type anything on the URL bar."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:46, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
We have the latest version of the extension; these are likely bugs and the thing is not well-maintained. I just messed around with it to show the five URL upload fields. Let me know if it works; if not, I'll just revert it back to the default latest version. --Porplemontage 14:55, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm removing MultiUpload since it's in that beta/never updated state and doesn't seem to be working properly. For the normal URL upload, selecting the radio button to the right of the text field gets everything going to allow text there. --Porplemontage 15:38, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

480MS.png What happened to MonoBook? That's the skin I normally use on most wikis (excluding WikiSimpsons and, by force, the Spyro Wiki).
What was Monaco is now MonoBook and what was MonoBook is now ClassicBook. You can switch to ClassicBook in your preferences. The reasoning for this is that both skins are actually based off Monobook and this change makes it easier to keep the default skin up-to-date. --Porplemontage 14:40, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for telling me. I'll switch it right away. :) UxieLover1994 14:51, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Quotes and Game namespace[edit]

We now need a Quotes and Game namespace, please."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 04:42, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

Ok. --Porplemontage 06:03, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

New permission for moderators[edit]

Just decided with Kryten that it would be a good idea to allow moderators to edit protected pages, making their role more important. The right is named editprotected. --Sove 06:07, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Sure thing. --Porplemontage 06:15, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Edit Counts[edit]

In order for us to not look brand new around here, would it be possible to inflate the edit counts of Dark-EnigmaXIII and myself to the values from the Wikia site? EDIT: On a related note, the Editcount extension is not working properly; the code {{Special:Editcount/Soxra}} should produce something like 3,400, but instead produces 3,288. (example)Soxxeh 18:00, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

The extension just counts all the edits it finds, so there's no worthwhile way to bump up the numbers. It should technically be accurate looking at this wiki. The embed feature was removed because it invalidates page cache when it's used. So when it was used on the main page, it was an issue that our most popular page wasn't cached. --Porplemontage 18:59, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Hey, we've got a request for you. We'd like to be able to create an interwiki link with the Keyhole ( that will go in the sidebar, like how the foreign-language ones are. I guess this means you'll have to add it to the wikifamily, or something like that. Right now we have "khw:" as the prefix, but if possible, we want to keep that for inline links and use a separate prefix for the sidebar link, "keyhole:". Can you do it? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 06:33, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

The only way to do it is in the languages box, so replace this image with something like "More wikis" and it will make sense. --Porplemontage 09:16, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Can you make it so admins and/or mods can move/rename categories? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 17:51, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Nope; I can't even do that. --Porplemontage 18:02, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

There's an error when authenticating with Wikia; don't know if it's temporary or if they're blocking us or something. You can have him register Neo Bahamut2 and then just rename. --Porplemontage 06:07, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Need help with an extension[edit]

I'm currently hosting a wiki for a friend, but I don't know which one of the youtube extensions you are using for this wiki. There's like four of them. --Sove 14:29, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I used the Wikia one to ensure compatibility. Here it is. --Porplemontage 19:45, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

RC problem[edit]

Did something happen to the Recent Changes page? The collapsing feature isn't working right. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 02:39, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Should be good now. --Porplemontage 11:19, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Well, it does work, but now it puts a strain on my browser. Is it supposed to be like that? Also, what happened to the ability to edit sections from the "difference between revisions" page? It's not there anymore, even from the most recent. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 22:45, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

What browser are you using? And it looks like the edit sections thing will be fixed when we update to 1.19. [1] --Porplemontage 23:41, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Mostly Firefox right now. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 23:45, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm using Firefox 12 and it works normally. You can try a combination of other browsers/other 1.18 wikis to see if it's a MediaWiki bug, something on your end, or something specific to this wiki which would be due to a problem with our JavaScript. --Porplemontage 00:06, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Login issue[edit]

Changing German language links[edit]

Hi Porplemontage, one of our affiliates, the German KH Wikia, was replaced by a better and independent one. Can you change the interlanguage link so that [[de:]] links to the new one. Thanks. --ShardofTruth 23:30, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, and other bureaucrats can make the change in the future. --Porplemontage 01:23, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

RSS Reader plugin[edit]

Thanks for changing the language link Porplemontage. Could you check what version of the rss plugin is installed here? Maybe the <rss> parser extension is a standard one, I'm not really sure about this stuff. At the moment the command seems to be only capable of showing the title links not the description text, which would be very useful. Maybe there is another variable that can do that, but I haven't found it yet. Thanks. --ShardofTruth 20:15, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Ok, the new extension has the description text as well as a bunch of other features. --Porplemontage 20:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Wow, that was fast. Thank you very much:-) --ShardofTruth 20:53, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you again, but would it be possible to upgrade the extension to the latest version (2.16) or is there another technical problem that prevents that? --ShardofTruth 11:39, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Is there a feature we don't get in our version? I could try the latest and see if it works; we have the version we have because I used the MediaWiki 1.18 snapshot which is a version guaranteed to work with our version of the wiki. --Porplemontage 22:09, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

The formatting of the date looks odd (+0000) and also seems to differ from rss source to rss source. There is a parameter that should change that but it doesn't seem to be implemented in the 1.9 version. Curiously the extension wiki uses the same version of the plugin so I'm not sure if it really works how it was descriped on their page. Anyway I don't want to provoke software incompatibilities and there may also be a way to change the date input/output directly by writing a new template for that matter (but I have read more about it to be sure). --ShardofTruth 13:33, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Form: namespace[edit]

Could you create it please? Erry 23:23, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Yes. --Porplemontage 01:41, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Could you also create the Video: namespace? maggosh 22:55, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Countdown extension[edit]

Not sure, but could you install this extension for us? Erry 15:30, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Let's use a JavaScript solution for this (it's best to not install an extension if we don't have to).

Enable JavaScript to view this countdown.

If it doesn't show up yet, clear your cache. --Porplemontage (talk) 16:02, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
It works! Thanks! Erry 17:09, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

User renaming[edit]

So far, it's not widely known a bcrat can change a user's name, but in case someone asks for it. As you know, doing that requires the extension to reattribute all edits of the old name to the new name. This can cause high server load, which is why Wikimedia wikis don't allow users with over 10,000 edits to have a change (of course, they have more powerful servers, but also much more content than the wikis you host combined). What do you think is the maximum amount of edits your server can handle without disrupting the wiki and/or the server? It's best to come up with some number, an undetermined amount is pretty much no answer here. --Sove 04:13, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

There's no need for a restriction based on number of edits. Above 5000, the updates are placed in the job queue, so the operation is processed over time. The most I've seen for a renamed user on the Super Mario Wiki was 15,000 edits. A rule of thumb for bureaucrats would be not to rename too many users over 5000 edits in a short period of time to avoid backing-up the job queue. I don't know if this policy is still active, at least on Wikipedia. I was able to find a user renamed with 44,000 edits to make sure this wouldn't be an issue. --Porplemontage (talk) 04:40, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

So, would you be able to install this skin for me? Erry 07:01, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

I installed it, but it seems almost unusable. I'll let you be the judge; I don't want to have a skin installed that's confusing. --Porplemontage (talk) 13:27, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I've tried testing it out but it's useless, so just go ahead and uninstall it. Erry 18:08, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Final Fantasy Wiki Proposal[edit]

UxieLover1994 Nya? — 12:46, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
678FMS.png I'm sorry, but we cannot create an independent Final Fantasy Wiki. The staff at the current one refuse to move, and creating our own will cause controversy that could lead to a "wiki war".
To allow THTSNBN to hold SEIWA "hostage" like that just doesn't sit well. We'll continue this someplace else. --Porplemontage (talk) 13:46, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
I suggest for now that we focus on the Square Enix Wiki. If you don't have an account, you can request one from Sove. We'll worry about an independent Final Fantasy Wiki later. UxieLover1994
Sounds good. --Porplemontage (talk) 14:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

UxieLover1994 Cuando la vida te da las herramientas, a construir motos libración — 11:36, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
480MS.png Actually, we're allowed to do a Final Fantasy Wiki, but we can only cover Final Fantasy XIII.

Actually, you can go ahead and create your own and we won't try to stop you or engage in "wiki-warring" (whatever that means), it just doesn't make any sense. Why have two competing wikis when you can have one high-quality one? That's why -- even though we don't much like Wikia -- we never left in the first place. Catuse167 (talk) 21:41, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

^ We don't like Wikia, but we put up with it. Wiki-warring is super bad. - TidusTehSacrificer357 23:49, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
As far as that goes, you don't have to have two competing wikis, as long as you make a concerted effort to get all the editors to the new kind of need a community of editors who don't stand for being pushed around, like tfwiki. If a large enough portion of the userbase would rather put up with the things wikia does than use a different url, well, yeah, you get a splintered base."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 00:59, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
Agreed. Also, Porplemontage, Erry is going to try to get MediaWiki installed onto his hard drive so that he can host the FFXIII Wiki himself. I thought you should know. UxieLover1994 05:35, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
I just started a discussion with the SEIWA staff where I feel a decision should be made before we move forward with any wikis. It's in the SEIWA staff forum so I think he should have access. --Porplemontage (talk) 06:06, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Does Mediawiki allow you to block a range of usernames (spec. *The*Raven*)? If not, could you get me a checkuser on The Raven part 3, TheRavenReturns, and I think his first name was TheRaven? I'm not sure if he's using a proxy or just resetting his IP, but he's harassing Ninja and I'd like to just knock this out all at once."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 00:13, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

You can block a range of IP's but not usernames. Can you not use Special:CheckUser? --Porplemontage (talk) 00:17, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes, but they're not closely related:
  • poss.

His usernames are more predictable, though. I don't think he's using a proxy, since all of the IPs still lead to the same locations, and he's not really...doing anything so far except harassing Ninja, who is promptly blocking him each time, but it would be nice if we could just put a lid on it."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 03:14, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Even if we did block names similar to The Raven, he could still create an account with a different name and harass. At least this way he's stupidly identifying himself and we can quickly take care of it. --Porplemontage (talk) 03:20, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

That jerk did contact me earlier this week, which I blocked him and remove the message from my talk page, but you can see it here. Since then, he hasn't really done anything else. He's a minor nuisance, and a rather pathetic one at that. Trolling the wiki just to get back at two people I admire. It leaves me a foul mood, honestly.--NinjaSheik 03:31, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Gif rescaling[edit]

I found this which I believe is the solution to our gif-thumbnail problems. The max size we want to upload is 800x600, maybe expand to 1028x720 later when KH HD comes out and I can upload gifs of that but, would the thumbnails, via that property, be animated? Respond to me ASAP. Erry 12:49, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

I increased it to 1.5e7 and File:Ars Arcanum KHCOM.gif works now. You can do the math that 480 * 360 * 76 = 1.31e7 for that image. I'm hesitant to increase the limit any more because already creating new thumbs of that image takes a while because it's a lot to process. I definitely would not recommend HD gifs; it's best that they're sized for the article pages. For something where high-resolution is necessary, uploading an ogg video would be the way to go over a huge gif. --Porplemontage (talk) 13:26, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
What if the pictures were sized down from HD to something smaller yet keeping the aspect ratio? Erry 13:27, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that's fine. As long as width * height * # frames is less than 15 million, you're good. You can even use images beyond that if they don't need to be resized for articles, you would just upload the image at the size you need. --Porplemontage (talk) 13:33, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Is there a way to protect a page from normal edits but allow bots? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 17:11, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

I think you'd have to make the page admins-only and make the bot an admin. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:38, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

So, we've got a thing to talk to you about on IRC when you get the chance[edit]

Some of the ads we're getting our the phony dating service ones like "ChnLove Date". Can we get those removed?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 03:19, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Sure, I'm able to block ads by URL and added "" and "" to the block list. I'll need the specific URL's for other ones. --Porplemontage (talk) 03:36, 7 October 2013 (UTC), (unable to get the url from properties, but it's displayed on the banner),, 05:04, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
I don't believe and Tynon to be phony. --Porplemontage (talk) 05:19, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm going to try making the ad filter more restrictive and see what happens. --Porplemontage (talk) 07:45, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Specs about the wiki[edit]

Hey, I'm an admin of the French KHWiki, and we're currently looking into moving out of Wikia like you guys did a while back. It looks to me that you're the person who would know about the technicalities here, so here's a few things I'd like to know about this wiki: Where are you hosting it? How did you get your domain name? And how did you move all the pages from the old wiki to this one, history and all?

And if you don't know the answer to these questions, could you point me to the person who does? ^^' -Alarielle- (talk) 16:36, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I'm hosting the wiki on a dedicated server I rent from, and I registered the domain name on I got all the pages by downloading Wikia's full database dump on Special:Statistics and imported it using the importDump.php MediaWiki maintenance script. For images I used a script (like this) to grab them and used the importImages.php MediaWiki maintenance script to import them to the wiki. --Porplemontage (talk) 21:50, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
All right, thanks for the information! ^_^ -Alarielle- (talk) 12:58, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Do we have the ability to have polls? Like with <poll> tags? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 04:58, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Poll tags might not work so well with our page caching, but I can enable embedding polls from if the feature will get used. Do you want me to do that? --Porplemontage (talk) 05:55, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

It's looking like we'll want to use it for the magazine, so I guess go for it. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 16:52, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

OK; it works like this: <polldaddy pollid="1234567"/> <polldaddy pollid="6828170"/> --Porplemontage (talk) 16:58, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Just wondering: is it possible to embed audio to play in the background on pages? Like the way some of the other wikis do. If not, that's fine. Thanks! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 03:01, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

You can embed OGG audio files which will produce a little audio player. There's not a way to make the music play automatically. --Porplemontage (talk) 03:09, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Well, but that's just using the files on the wiki. I should have explained what I was trying to do. I'm trying to get a song to play on my userpage, the way some users do on the DisneyWiki (see here). I saw that what they did was some sort of template, which I tried to imitate, but it didn't work. So, I'm wondering if there's some other way. The point is that they use videos from YouTube, and somehow get the audio to play alone, without the video. I know you can somehow in html, or something like that, but that didn't work either. Again, if that's not possible, it's fine. Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 03:19, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
EDIT: Do you know what "YTMP" means in coding? It seems to be some class that enables playing from YouTube, but I'm not sure. KeybladeSpyMaster (talk) 03:57, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
It looks like they got it working using verbatim tags and iframe tags we don't support. The other alternative without autoplay would be a small YouTube player: --Porplemontage (talk) 04:05, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

KHWiki - Mobile[edit]

Hey. I recently brought up the idea of creating a mobile app for the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, and have spent the last week trying to learn C# to code an app. However, I'm struggling. Pretty bad. So it was brought up of using an extension like this one. So I'm asking for your advice/suggestion on how to best go about with this. Could the extension work? Should we (I) still go about with an app? I've downloaded the Wikipedia app source code, so I'd imagine we'd base it off of that, but I'm still not sure. Thanks! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 04:00, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

I'll try installing the extension after we upgrade to MediaWiki 1.23. You can stop working on the app if it's giving you too much trouble. --Porplemontage (talk) 06:31, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for installing the extension, I'm sure it'll be really useful to the community. You know, I've thought about it, and I've decided I'll still go for the app, anyways, since it could be useful to the community as well, and I don't think three days of learning qualifies me to quit (This is a heads-up: I'd like to apologize before hand if I begin to bother you about the wiki's coding a lot to create the app). Don't think I'm telling you not to install the extension, do it anyways, if you want. Just, thanks a ton for your help. Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 03:15, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Hey! Thanks a whole bunch for installing the mobile extension. It looks really great! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 17:38, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

No problem! --Porplemontage (talk) 18:13, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Report Error[edit]

Hello. I'm sorry to bother you, but would you mind checking this problem out?

Apparently this problem only occurs if you are not logged into the Wiki. This problem occurs on several browsers as mentioned by the IP, as well as being checked by myself and UnknownChaser; IE, Firefox, and Opera. Thank you for your continued help. I am sorry for the bother. Xion4ever 17:35, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

The scrollbox wasn't working with a percentage width. Not sure why. --Porplemontage (talk) 18:13, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Mobile Issues[edit]

Hello, could you take a look at the issues listed here? Thanks! TheFifteenthMember 00:12, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Is this possible? From what I've seen, it seems it must be JS, and I have two scripts here, but though I've been using it for two weeks, it's suddenly breaking the tabber divs in the last couple days. So do you know how we might be able to do this? We'd like it for the new wiki theme, which would feature three different logos. Thanks! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 15:29, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

This should work:
var logos = ['', '', '', ''];
$('#p-logo a').css('background-image', 'url(' + logos[Math.floor(Math.random() * logos.length)] + ')');
--Porplemontage (talk) 15:43, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
Ok, it worked! Thanks a lot! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 16:15, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Staff Icon[edit]

Hey, so we just recently decided you needed a place on the Staff page. So, we are in need of an icon for you. From what I see, the other staff use a scene from one of the opening videos, though I don't think you need to if you don't want to. Tell me what image you want, and I'll edit it like the others (unless you want to do it yourself). Thanks again for all your hard work! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 16:13, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Any picture of Donald Duck sounds good. Thanks! --Porplemontage (talk) 18:37, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
So, I've got this one from the Kingdom Hearts II opening video and this one from the Kingdom Hearts 3D opening video. I tried as best I could to mimic Erry's style (he's the one who originally did the images). Which do you prefer? Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 06:05, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Cool. I like this one. --Porplemontage (talk) 07:33, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Tada! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 21:36, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Image Upload prompt[edit]

Hey, UnknownChaser and I were wondering if we could implement this to the Special:Upload page, the way Wikipedia and Wikimedia do it. I've already coded the template, so all I figure we'd need to do is find a way to ask for those parameters when we're uploading images, the way it asks for licensing, for example. I imagine that's something only you could do (I think it's JS-related (which I don't know) or something, but I'm not sure). The idea is that it will help better manage the file summaries. If you could help us, that'd be great, but if it's not possible, don't worry about it. Thanks! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 18:24, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

I did it the way I know how: by pre-loading the template into the description box. You may want to add instructions for it here. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:56, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Oh wow, thanks so much! I'll add the instructions then. Or rather, get someone to add them. Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 20:00, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Aqua's page[edit]

So, people been telling me that theres something up with Aqua's page, like no one can access it or edit it. Apparently, when you try to edit it, it doesnt load for some reason. Any idea why? UnknownCheisā —— Don't believe Ondore's lies 18:33, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

File:Spellweaver KHBBS.gif wasn't generating thumbnails properly. I reverted the image to an older version and it works now. Maybe the other version should be re-exported from an image program or compressed or something - I don't know what's wrong with it. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:30, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

I think it's better. RikutheBloody 19:31, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Transparent images[edit]

Hey, I've been noticing that now (as of about three days back or so), this image appears in the background of all transparent images when the mouse doesn't hover. I found the image in the page's resources, so I know that's the one that shows up. Do you know why? Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 21:12, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

It was due to this. --Porplemontage (talk) 01:19, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 02:07, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Question about Choose/Option[edit]

Hey, sorry I keep bothering you with something every couple days. So I'm trying to make a new talk bubble template for ENX, and I've run into a problem. See, I'm trying to use Choose/Option hooks so the talk bubble appearance change randomly. However, from what I gathered, those hooks make it difficult to actually use the talk bubble templates inside the hooks, which I think was confirmed here. I'm wondering, though, if that's true and, if it is, whether there's anything on this page that actually helps. I didn't really get what was on it, so I don't know if it's been fixed or if they have the solution to use on it or what. Thanks! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 16:24, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Create a template that handles a parameter differently then create another template like this that calls the first template using choose with the parameter set to different values:
--Porplemontage (talk) 17:15, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I understand. You mean create an entirely new talkbubble template like this? And change the parameters? Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 03:12, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Nevermind, I couldn't get it to work. Passing a parameter such as the text through the randomizer doesn't work. --Porplemontage (talk) 03:31, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

We'd like to use Special:MergeHistory to update Template:InfoKeyKHX with User:TheSilentHero/Zandbak, but I do not have permission to use it. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 22:25, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Ok, try again. --Porplemontage (talk) 22:34, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Database error when searching[edit]

Hey Porple, we've noticed that a database error keeps showing up when we search text that doesn't exist as a page. The error page is shown here and the error text (which is barely seen behind the site logo) is here. Any chance you know why it does this? Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 18:31, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for reporting this. A hiccup with the database - it's fixed now! --Porplemontage (talk) 19:15, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thanks a lot! Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 19:26, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Refs with mouseover[edit]

Would we be able to get Reference Tooltips? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 19:09, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Got it now! --Porplemontage (talk) 01:27, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Mobile code[edit]

Hey there, could you remind me of how to create mobile-exclusive content? I'm trying here using <div id="mf-main" style="display:none;"> but the mobile version shows the same content as desktop. What's the issue? Thanks. TheFifteenthMember 20:24, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Ok, I brought in some CSS to fix it. --Porplemontage (talk) 20:59, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Would it be possible to create a separate site notice for mobile viewers? At the moment, the site notice does not appear on mobile at all. TheFifteenthMember 20:35, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

The existing site notice can be enabled on mobile and use CSS to hide it and create a separate mobile one. This can be done if there's a consensus for it... I don't want to bump all the content down too much for mobile users. --Porplemontage (talk) 20:48, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
Okay, we discussed here that we'd like to test having a mobile site notice. Could we do that? TheFifteenthMember 17:21, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Sure, it's up now. --Porplemontage (talk) 04:28, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Template limit[edit]

Is it possible to increase the template limit? TheSilentHero 15:22, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

It should be. Can you show me where the limit is being hit? --Porplemontage (talk) 19:58, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
We hit the limit while working on making userboxes and putting them all on one page, but split the page after that. A few days ago ENX reached the limit on his userpage, but he split the userboxes to another page as well. I think both times are because of too much instances of Template:!. I believe {{!}} is a magic word, so would it be possible to exclude it from the template count? Here's a list of pages that hit the limit, but they're mostly archives. Since we are planning on making more userboxes, I thought it would be useful to increase the limit, so people can add all the userboxes they want onto their page. TheSilentHero 17:22, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Ok, I increased it by 50%. --Porplemontage (talk) 17:34, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. How much templates can the limit hold now? TheSilentHero 17:36, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
What was happening is that when the max page size is reached, templates stop being included. So the page size was increased from 2048 KB to 3072 KB. FYI, it would be preferred to split pages that large into smaller pages. --Porplemontage (talk) 17:45, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Tab spacing[edit]

This may be an IE issue only, but the KHII version of Save the Queen and Save the King has the "+" tab appearing dead center of the "Save the Queen/King" tab. Any advice?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:42, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

This does not appear in Chrome at this time. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 21:47, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Looks good for me in IE11. What version are you running? --Porplemontage (talk) 22:15, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
No idea, they won't give us access to that out of security concerns. Can barely do much more than type on this thing."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 14:48, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
I'm guessing it's a bug in an older version of IE that Microsoft has since fixed. If the + tab is ok on other pages like this, maybe it's an issue when nesting tabs? Not sure what else is different. --Porplemontage (talk) 23:34, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey Porple! I was wondering if you could help me over at the Keyhole. We want a new logo, but I tried looking around for the page to do so, and I'm not sure what to edit and how. We want it to change (similar to what it does here) between between these images: 1 2. It currently doesn't rotate, so I'm not sure if it's even possible with wikia. But if you could help us out and tell me what you did for future reference, that would be wonderful! If not, I understand. Thanks for your time. Eternal Flames KHD.pngChainoffirePizza Cut KHD.png 07:10, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

If this is just for Monobook then it should work if you add the following code to MediaWiki:Monobook.js. --Porplemontage (talk) 07:35, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
var logos = ['', ''];
$('#p-logo a').css('background-image', 'url(' + logos[Math.floor(Math.random() * logos.length)] + ')');

Do I have to add them in a certain spot? Eternal Flames KHD.pngChainoffirePizza Cut KHD.png 23:31, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

No, you can just add it to the bottom. --Porplemontage (talk) 00:02, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
I added the coding, but it doesn't want to switch, I'm only seeing the first logo. Eternal Flames KHD.pngChainoffirePizza Cut KHD.png 05:18, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Ok, now I figured out that you need to remove the following code from MediaWiki:Monobook.css to make it work:
#p-logo a {
 background-image:url( !important;
--Porplemontage (talk) 10:40, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Got it to work. Thanks Porple! Eternal Flames KHD.pngChainoffirePizza Cut KHD.png 06:33, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

I was wondering if it was possible to have Template:Countdown show a certain text when the time expires. Something like "Time is up" or all zeroes, or something. Now, after the time expires, it counts up. I came to you, because I think it has something to do with the MediaWiki code. TheSilentHero 17:52, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Yes, simply use the following sample code where "Happy 2015!" is the message displayed when the countdown is over.
<span data-end="toggle" data-toggle=".post-countdown" class="countdown" style="display:none;">
Only <span class="countdowndate">January 01 2015 00:00:00</span> until the new year...
<span class="post-countdown" style="display:none;">Happy 2015!</span>

--Porplemontage (talk) 20:06, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Exclude from mobile view[edit]

I was wondering, since there is code to show something in mobile view only, is there also code to exclude something from mobile view? TheSilentHero 16:54, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Sure, use CSS class="nomobile". This sentence is only visible on desktop. --Porplemontage (talk) 22:24, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Pub Galaxy's Affiliation Request[edit]

NinjaSheik - All of this might have started with a lie...But I'm really am glad that I could meet you...
TALK - One day, the light-it will be ours, and it will bring us together. Til then, I'll be in your heart...
Hello, Porplemontage! I don't think I've ever spoken to you before, so this is kind of weird. ^__^; Thank you for everything you've done for the wiki and I hope you're having a happy Thanksgiving. I'm really to bother you, but one of users informed us about an affiliation request last night from a representative of a company called Pub Galaxy. Ever heard of them? You see check out their proposal here, and some of us are discussing on its talk page. Please check it out; as the developer of the site, your input is greatly appreciated and needed. Thank you!
Thank you! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving too. So, I get emails all the time from ad companies that want to partner with us to place ads on the website. Since we already have ads that allow us to pay for the server and everything, I politely decline all those requests. This is just another one of those. --Porplemontage (talk) 16:11, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the insight! :D--NinjaSheik 20:33, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Forum:More rights for regular contributors[edit]

Would you like to help me test a hypothesis?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 20:13, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

In terms of blocking, all accounts are the same. There is no setting to prevent certain accounts from being blocked, so we should be careful with who that is given out to. Keeping the admin rank sort of sacred, we also have the moderator and artist ranks. We could merge the artist rights into moderator and make trusted users moderators. --Porplemontage (talk) 00:57, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

This chick wants to advertise?[edit]

At least that's what I think she's saying. She's been messaging our facebook page quite persistently asking for status updates, Kryten said you handle this kind of stuff.

Hi team, My name is Pauline and I represent PubGalaxy – the publisher-centric platform, which monetizes some of the world's leading publishers, including PhoneArena (20m visits), (20m visits), ViralNova (6m visits), and (18m visits), as well as gaming-related properties similar to yours, such as and Currently, we're handling the programmatic ad sales of 250+ publishing partners across various verticals, trading over 13 billion ad impressions per month. Our web & mobile monetization solution combines hand-picked programmatic & traditional demand, allowing us to create an individual setup for each property, based on constant human optimization and our publishers' preferences. This approach results in Net CPM rates of $1.50-$3.00 for US/UK/CA inventory and $0.60-$1.00 for international traffic. We're currently looking to expand our partnership portfolio and I think that К would be a great fit. I'd be happy to explore this opportunity over email or schedule a quick phone / Skype call over the next couple of business days. Thanks, Pauline

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't see the forum this was addressed in until now. SubZeroFlames17:04, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

Mod mod[edit]

Can we add the following rights to the mod usergrouprights?

  • Delete and undelete specific log entries (deletelogentry)
  • Delete and undelete specific revisions of pages (deleterevision)
  • Delete pages (delete)
  • Delete pages with large histories (bigdelete)
  • Edit the user interface (editinterface)

You got it! --Porplemontage (talk) 06:48, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Rollback question[edit]

We're discussing the possibility of adding a confirmation screen before using rollback, to prevent accidentally undoing edits. Is something like this possible? And if so, would it be possible to make it optional? EDIT: Please don't implement it yet if it is possible, because we are still discussing if it should be used or not. TheSilentHero 18:20, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Sure, and it can be optional. To enable, add the following line to your common.js:

--Porplemontage (talk) 18:55, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Thanks! TheSilentHero 18:59, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you again, but it doesn't seem to work in mobile view. TheSilentHero 19:14, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
I know for me, this issue occurs when in the mobile view, because the text size for the lines in recent changes is just all over the place. I click on what is supposed to be the "diff" link, the text I was looking at shrinks, and it turns out the location I pressed was "really" the rollback link for the line below. Is there any way to get the text to stop changing sizes in mobile view recentchanges? Do my phones just suck?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:41, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Ok, it will now ask by default on mobile, which can be disabled here. Desktop, it won't ask unless you install the common.js script. With the text, all I can think is that the phone is resizing the page when something larger loads. --Porplemontage (talk) 21:08, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Recent changes edit limit[edit]

Is it at all possible to extend the hard limit on number of viewable edits in Recent Changes? I can get it to go up to 5000 edits by manipulating the URL, but I need to go a little further back, as least for a little while. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 17:11, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

You can get back to late December if you exclude all but Mainspace, and farther than that if you exclude Mainspace itself."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 18:55, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
If you do need more, I've temporarily doubled it to 10,000. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:08, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
I don't understand, I can't get any farther back than January 7... I'm using (150 days, 7000 edits, only Mainspace). --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 20:28, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
Turns out only the past 13 weeks of edits are stored in the recent changes table by default. I've rebuilt the table with 180 days worth of edits. --Porplemontage (talk) 20:50, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
THANK YOU --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 21:03, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Tabber and Tables[edit]

Is it possible to reduce how much padding is created by having a nested table or nested divs? See the KHUX tab here."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 20:26, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

If not, is it possible to code the infobox so that the top half of the blue cell border is on the top table, the bottom half is on the bottom table, and they both have the same widths?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 20:27, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I've created a "fulltabs" class and applied it to the draft table to remove the margin and allow the tabs to take up the full width. --Porplemontage (talk) 21:07, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

I'd like your help[edit]

For the KHUX wiki, we wanted to install the WhosOnline feature, but it ends up as a list, instead of a single line of names, like on this wiki. Here's the KHUX Wiki's page. Do you have any idea how to change this? TheSilentHero 17:03, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Did you fix it already? It's showing as a comma-separated line of names. --Porplemontage (talk) 17:28, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
It seems to be fixed now. Thanks anyway. TheSilentHero 17:31, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

AWB bot[edit]

Would you be able to provide input here on getting an AWB bot set up for the UX wiki?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 21:05, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

I've actually never used that bot. I see you asked Neumannz as well - I think that's the right call. It looks like the instructions here and here are very comprehensive to get started. --Porplemontage (talk) 21:37, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Tabber issue on chrome[edit]

The tabbers don't seem to work anymore in Chrome, yet they do work in Microsoft Edge. Do you have any idea what caused this? TheSilentHero 10:44, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Never mind. They work again now. TheSilentHero 10:48, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
Actually, the tabbers don't work for me, either, in Chrome. They've been acting up for a few days, but I figured it was a small glitch that would eventually go away. Should I clear my cache or something?--NinjaSheik 01:45, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Yes, clearing your cache should fix the issue. --Porplemontage (talk) 01:49, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Not to sound like a completely ignorant moron that knows nothing about computers but, how would one go about clearing their cache, exactly? Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 03:32, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Just hitting CTRL + F5 on the web page might do it. If not, in Chrome it's Menu, History, History, Clear browsing data. --Porplemontage (talk) 03:36, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
That just refreshed the page for me. Oh, I probably should've mentioned this in the first place, but I'm on Windows 7. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 04:09, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
See the instructions here for various browsers. --Porplemontage (talk) 04:26, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, it worked! :) But, um, I have another question. ^_^; I just noticed this now, but when I used my talk bubbles, the text comes out red, which is really weird. I never messed with my talk bubbles, so I don't know why the text is colored red instead of black. I know you edited on the wiki's script a few times already, so maybe it has do with the changes you made?--NinjaSheik 19:24, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
I fixed it! --Porplemontage (talk) 21:04, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Oh, yay! :D Thank you very much!--NinjaSheik 20:33, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
Nope, I'm still having problems. Could it just be that Windows 7 is too old? Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 03:28, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
What browser are you using? --Porplemontage (talk) 03:31, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
Seriously?! I gave you my operating system instead of my internet browser?! I am a completely ignorant moron. It's Internet Explorer. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 02:40, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
Ha, it's no problem. Everything works for me in IE 11. What version of IE do you have? It should tell you in Settings -> About or something like that. --Porplemontage (talk) 04:05, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain it's Internet Explorer 7. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 02:55, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
IE7 is pretty old and has issues with JavaScript. You should update to the latest version, or try Chrome or something. --Porplemontage (talk) 06:39, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I know. I had put off updating it until now. Guess it's time. And I don't like or trust Chrome for some reason. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 03:27, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
I main Firefox, but whatever you use, it's good to keep it updated so you at least get the latest security patches. --Porplemontage (talk) 03:30, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

Curious Question[edit]

Hiya, Porplemontage! :) My apologies for popping out the blue like this, but I wanted to ask a question I've had on my mind for a while. Have you heard about the new changes that Community Wikia have been implementing lately? The biggest one being that they renamed "Wikia" as "Fandom". Not a lot of users are happy about it. ^_^; A friend and I got talking about the changes being made, and how unsatisfactory the changes are for wikias all over the web. Anyway, the conversation got me thinking about how many users have been thinking of creating their own domains, like the KHWiki, to break away from Community Wikia's thumb. I want to asked you, as you set the KHWiki up when it broke away from the Keyhole, how much goes into doing something like that, specifically the cost to maintain a site with and without ads to pay for the servers and stuff like that?--NinjaSheik 21:25, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm butting in! It goes without saying you're thinking of launching your own wiki. ;) Mind if I ask what you're cooking up? --Ignis (talk) 21:42, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
Wow, I haven't been following Wikia lately. They never just give their users what they want, huh? Well a domain costs about $12 per year. The hosting depends entirely on how much traffic you get. You could start off with shared hosting, say $10 a month, all the way up to a dedicated server for hundreds. As my sites grew, that's the path I took: shared hosting -> VPS -> dedicated servers. Throwing up some AdSense ads should cover things for a while. The site would likely run slower on shared hosting, as opposed to a dedicated server where you can really fine-tune all the server software to meet your needs. What communities might want to leave? By the way, if people are interested, I'm not opposed to hosting more wikis. --Porplemontage (talk) 22:06, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
@Ignis: Lol! XD Now, now, don't go jumping to conclusions just yet. It's true that the thought of launching my own wiki as crossed my mind, but I'm not doing anything right now. I simply don't have the time to something like. I'm editing on three wikias right now, two of which I'm an admin on (KHWiki included, of course), so I don't have the time to launch another wiki. ^__^; Plus, I have my other side hobbies, like fanfiction writing/reading and stuff. I have an idea of what series I want do it on, but for now, I'm gonna keep it a secret! ;) No point of revealing it since I'm not actually planning to launch it just yet. Lol! XD For now, I'm just gathering information about the process of creating a domain separate from Community Wikia.
@Porplemontage: Nope, they do not. I still edit on Wikia, so I know people are very unsatisfied with the changes that are being made right now. However, in regards to whole communities, I honestly don't know. Users I'm friends with are complaining about the changes and said they would like for the wikias they're editing on to move to an independent domain like the KHWiki. Nothing's been decided, though. Just whispers and the like going around some of the other wikias I frequent on but don't necessarily edit on. Honestly, for big communities like the Narutopedia, moving domains after being so long established in a bad move, and that's why unsatisfied users are putting up with the changes. They don't want to deal with things like the costs/bills that comes with hosting their own domains. But as Ignis deduced, I am mainly asking because I have been thinking about establishing my own wikia, in the future, but I haven't decided on anything. I'm in the dark when it comes to the technical aspects of it all (I'm hopeless when it comes to coding and software. ^__^;), but since you were the developer for the site, I thought I might ask you to get the basic idea. What does the KHWiki run on? ADsense, correct?--NinjaSheik 19:42, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
Gotcha! We ran AdSense ads for a long time, but now I use Sortable since they make it easy to pull from all the top ad networks, not just Google. From a technical standpoint, the site runs on MediaWiki, Apache and PHP underneath, with a MySQL database. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:56, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
Lol! XD You've lost me when you start mentioning MediaWiki, Aspache, PHP, and MySQL. ^__^; Like I said before, when it comes to software and the technical aspects of running a website, I'm 100% clueless. I do know that websites need ads to help pay for servers, and traffic helps with that, too. If they don't want ads on their site, they pay for it themselves. Isn't that how it goes, basically? I do like editing for my favorite shows, and it's something I'd like to continue in the future, but since the changes being made on Community Wikia are unsatisfactory (and I hate how they run things sometimes) and I hate editing on Wikipedia (though, I lend an occasional hand for my favorite shows), I've been thinking establishing my own domain for at least one series I like, but I haven't come to a concrete decision. So, I'm gonna need a breakdown about the all the things involved in the process since I'm just gathering information at the moment. XD Like a "Beginner's Guide", if you will. Porplemontage, may I ask that you please explain the process of establishing a wikia like the KHWiki in layman's terms? Again, the only thing I understand about running a website is that ads help pay for the servers. XD I'm sorry, I know it's a lot to ask. ^_^;--NinjaSheik 22:33, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
You've got the right idea. First step would be to purchase the domain and web hosting, say from a company like BlueHost. They will give you login details for accessing the site control panel. Using that, you install MediaWiki. They may offer a really simple way to install MediaWiki, but if not, you can download the installation package yourself, upload it to your hosting, and create the MySQL database. I'm not going to get into the nitty-gritty technical details here - if you need help after you already have the domain and hosting, then I can properly walk you through some of this. After you have installed MediaWiki, you're free to add content to the site. Once the site has a decent amount of content, then you can apply to Google AdSense, and once you're approved, you can start inserting the ad code onto the site. Then you'll be paid from them and can use that money toward the hosting costs. --Porplemontage (talk) 22:55, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
Ah, I see! Sounds overly complicated to me at first, but I think understand the gist of it. ^_^; Thank you very much, Porplemontage! This conversation has been very insightful. Thank you for your time. :D (By the way, your talk page is quite long.) See you around~.--NinjaSheik 20:26, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Can't login[edit]

This is User:Ignis. And as described on the tin, I can't login. :/ At first, it started giving me a session hijacking message: "There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Go back to the previous page, reload that page and then try again." But now when I hit the login button, it just kicks me to the front page unlogged like this. =_= It's not a browser issue either as I've tried it on two different PC's (well, Macs!). I contacted Kryten first and tried the manual method of logging in, and that isn't working either. Help would be appreciated. -- 23:27, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Hmm ok. Please clear your cookies and try again! --Porplemontage (talk) 23:34, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Aaand, that did it lol. Thanks. I actually hate it when these problems have such hilariously simple and obvious solutions, since it just makes me feel stupid. :P --Ignis (talk) 23:41, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Haha no problem - glad it worked! --Porplemontage (talk) 23:42, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Tabber Issue Again[edit]

Hi, Porplemontage, sorry for bothering you about this again, but you remember that tabber issue? I've been experiencing it for a while now. After clearing my cache the first time, it fixed the issue, but it kinda sprung up again. Not only that, the issue also seems to appear when I enter the KHWiki through my phone. I don't think it's because I use Google Chrome? Should I try clearing my cache again? But then again, I'm having the issue when I enter the KHWiki on my phone, so I don't think it really has anything to do with my browser?--NinjaSheik 22:38, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Sure, try clearing the cache again. The JavaScript is all there and working, unfortunately it can just be unreliable. We can try switching to the tabber extension and see if it works any better, but we would have to remove the JavaScript tabber and then make the switch right away because having both systems in place at once causes issues. I've installed the extension and did a test on my userpage - since both systems are in place you can see you get double tabs sometimes. --Porplemontage (talk) 00:34, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
I think the tabber issue on my phone was probably due the fact that my phone and not the wiki. I rarely go on any wikias on my phone since it causes my browser on my phone to crash, and it loads slowly due the content there. I'm still having the issue on my computer, so I'll try clearing my cache. Should I clear everything, though, including browsing/downloading history, passwords, and audtofill data? Last time, I just cleared my cookies and plugin data.--NinjaSheik 20:25, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
All you should need to clear is "Cache" or "Cached images and files" --Porplemontage (talk) 20:29, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
I only cleared "Cached images and files" twice. I'm still experiencing the tabber issue. :( I wonder if this is because I use Google Chrome?--NinjaSheik 20:20, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm going to test out a switch to the tabber extension when traffic is low to see if it's more reliable. --Porplemontage (talk) 23:08, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Whatever you did today fixed it! The tabs are functioning as they should on my end. Thank you very so much! :D--NinjaSheik 21:53, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Awesome! I greatly simplified all our JavaScript. --Porplemontage (talk) 21:57, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Ban evasion[edit]

So, if you're able to take a look at the drama with User talk:Ignis and his use of IPs, can you e-mail me a description of what tools we have to combat that? Would requiring admin-approval of account applications to the wiki, like does, be workable?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 20:39, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Ignis popped up again using yet another IP address. Is there nothing that can be done to prevent him and other users in the future to evading the ban by abusing multiple IP addresses?--NinjaSheik 04:07, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. We've been dealing with ban evaders for years on the MarioWiki, it's just one of the major jobs that an admin does - monitor new users and deal with it. All you can do is hire more admins. Could add a patroller class for checking users and doing bans as well. --Porplemontage (talk) 04:23, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Reiterating my suggestion to not allow IPs, and require new accounts be approved by an admin. It's worked well for wikimon, which has an astonishingly low amount of vandalism and quite, quite good content. Failing that, I'd like to discuss with you tools to identify his IP addresses."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 13:02, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
On wikimon, your account doesn't have to be approved by an admin, you just need to confirm your email address before you can edit. Would you like me to enable that? --Porplemontage (talk) 13:13, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
Oh, they changed it? Okay.
If that's something possible, I think we should discuss pros and cons in the facebook chat, yeah. Lemme know when you've accepted my friend request so I can try to add you to the chat again."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 16:56, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Wiki facebook group[edit]

Just realized you weren't already on this.

Can you please use the wiki e-mail feature to e-mail me your facebook url, if you're interested in being part of the wiki facebook group?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 21:28, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Install Abuse Filter?[edit]

Hey, Porplemontage. :) Sorry to bother you, but I had a question. You probably saw that the KHWiki has experienced some excessive vandalism for the last few days due a single user, and I just received word from TheSilentHero we installed a new extension to moderate edits. It kind of reminded of the abuse filter I've seen on a few other wikis, often used by wikis like the Narutopedia because of how large the community is. I was wondering, would it be possible to install something like that here on the KHWiki? I'm not privy to the mechanics behind it, aside what it can do, so I figured I'd ask you. We can't stop users from getting past the bans, but I hope maybe an abuse filter can help?--NinjaSheik 19:20, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

The Moderation extension we just installed makes sure that every edit from new users is reviewed before being published. Because we don't have a ton of new editors, this suits the wiki well. If we ever want to ease off of the Moderation extension, I can see moving to the AbuseFilter extension. This would allow new user edits to go through right away, with the admins setting filters to catch certain actions. Because the Moderation extension is so strong, I don't think there's a need for both at the same time. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:52, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
Ah, gotcha! :D Thank you for answering my question. ^_^--NinjaSheik 17:58, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Countdown issues[edit]

Hey, Porple, had a question. We seem to be having issues with the Countdown extension on KHWiki:End of Year Event 2017. For some reason, it keeps flipping between showing the timer is counting down, showing the expire message, or showing the expire message with either the countdown frozen or the expire time next to it. I've checked it a couple times, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong to cause this. Any ideas? Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.pngKeybladeSpyMaster Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png 02:26, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

It looks good for me, try clearing your cache to refresh the JS. --Porplemontage (talk) 02:29, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

KrytenKoro's Credentials[edit]

It looks KrytenKoro is leaving the KHWiki, but has not demoted his status as an admin/bureaucrat. I'm trying to find a way to that on the Special Pages, but the functions are bit different from what I'm used to seeing on the Central Wikia. To change a users' rights, do we use "Change credentials" or "Remove credentials"?--NinjaSheik 21:31, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Only bureaucrats can change user rights (through Special:UserRights). Would be cool if he appointed a replacement bureaucrat. --Porplemontage (talk) 21:39, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I'll KrytenKoro know that. Thanks!--NinjaSheik 21:49, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
I've contacted Kryten on his talk page and email, but I don't know if he'll reply. Neumz has been AWOL for a year, too, so I'm kind of uneasy of having the KHWiki with no bureaucrats. The community talked about doing a revision with the staff since it's out of date, but we haven't gotten to it yet. That said, I'll broach on it with the rest of the community, but even if the community elects someone else to replace the two, it doesn't help if neither of them can be reached. Can nothing be done about this?--NinjaSheik 22:45, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
I usually stay out of staff decisions and let you guys handle all that, but in this case, I'll just make you a bureaucrat! --Porplemontage (talk) 22:54, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
Oh, thank you very much, but I think such a decision should have been made with the input with the rest of the community. ^_^; I know that being a bcrat and admin isn't that different from each other, and our community is so small that any of the staff rarely uses their user rights, but still... Well, again, thank you very much. I'll still broach the subject with the rest of the community, though.--NinjaSheik 22:59, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
Feel free to discuss it with the community, promote other admin(s), demote Neumannz or yourself, whatever everyone decides is best! --Porplemontage (talk) 23:06, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
I've created a topic discussion on the staff's talk page so the community can discuss. I've been meaning to KeybladeSpyMaster reinstated as an admin that he is back. As for another bcract, that's something that needs to be discussed with the rest of the community, of course. Thank you again.--NinjaSheik 23:11, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Help User:Somi[edit]

Hi, Porplemontage! :) I was wondering if you can help me with something. An inactive user on the KHWiki named User:Somi contacted me privately and informed that she is trying to log back into her old account, but she's forgotten her password, and she believes that the old email associated with her account has been deleted. Is there a way to retrieve her old email and password associated with her KHWiki account?--NinjaSheik 19:22, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

I can change the email or password on the account. --Porplemontage (talk) 19:52, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
All right, thank you. I'll let Somi know and send her your way to discuss that sort of thing.--NinjaSheik 21:44, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello :) I'm Somi.-- 23:19, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Tell me your new email and I'll assign it to your account? --Porplemontage (talk) 18:49, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

MediaWiki Help[edit]

Hi. My name's Psychid, and I was recommended by NinjaSheik, because I could use your help, if you're willing.

I'm planning on making a wiki dedicated to a project of my own, and I intend to go the extra mile and make it with MediaWiki. However, this is kinda my first time using it, and it turns out that programming with it is a lot more complicated than I anticipated. But rather than spamming your userpage with instructions, I was wondering if you'd be willing to give me your e-mail so that I can be more in-depth with what I need help with. For your convenience, my e-mail is

Please, and thank you! --The-Psychid (talk) 20:37, 8 November 2018 (UTC)

Ok, you can send me a message here and let me know what you need help with! --Porplemontage (talk) 20:49, 8 November 2018 (UTC)

Can you wipe that image from the database, or whatever needs to be done to reset it? We're able to see the image whenever we move it to a different name, so it seems like it's just that specific name that's cursed."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:15, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Ok! --Porplemontage (talk) 23:36, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Search options[edit]

Hey my dude, how hard would it be to make this possible to use in the wiki's search functionality? Thanks! --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 15:59, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey there. That search feature requires installing a whole different search engine, there is a lot to that. Sometimes I use Special:ReplaceText (currently disabled) to do a complex search and get a list of pages, with or without actually replacing anything. Here is the result of a tabbertab search - it can only do 250 at a time so when those are done I can run it again and get the next 250! --Porplemontage (talk) 20:18, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Update: Here is where things currently stand - [3], [4] --Porplemontage (talk) 02:54, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Left side navigation[edit]

Hello! I'm Joe, we didn't really talk before lol. Anyway, I've recently been updating the wiki's theme and other little doodads. That includes updating a few things on the sidebar menus, including the fonts. In addition to no longer looking pixelated, they now have these nifty little icons. However, as a result on the slightly larger resolution, it appears they've getting cutoff. I'm told this is a CSS issue, and I don't have the necessary permission to tweak those particular nav templates. Do you think you can make them whole image appear correctly over the sidebars? If it can't be done, I can make them smaller and simpler,'d be really nice if it can be done. :) Bold text

Hi, just do CTRL+F5 and it should work. Nice job! --Porplemontage (talk) 21:49, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
Oh wow, thank you! Twice! That was fast lol. --Samoa Joe (talk) 21:57, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
Looks great you guys! Thanks!! Eternal Flames KHD.pngChainoffirePizza Cut KHD.png 22:01, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

ANOTHER question...[edit]

I'm a real pest today. :P Lol, anyway super simple question: [Is something like this doable?] If it is, tell me how to prepare the assets and I'll get on it. --Samoa Joe (talk) 22:13, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

Sure, if you can just get me those corner images with a transparent background then I'll make the change. --Porplemontage (talk) 22:19, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
That was actually a quick and dirty mock up lol. I'll have to redo it properly, but what about the lines? Wouldn't it be better to have the background "stack? so it lines up correctly with the links? --Samoa Joe (talk) 22:25, 22 March 2020 (UTC) Anyway, I'll go ahead and get these ready for you.

Ok, [here is the proper stuff]. You'll probably need to reposition the text a bit so it falls in the middle, but all said and should be quite cool. :3 --Samoa Joe (talk) 22:36, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

I think all it really needs is a more "repeat-friendly" background if you want to re-upload that, it can be any size. --Porplemontage (talk) 23:55, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
You are ridiculous lol. And totally awesome! Anyway, sure. :) Let me fixer up the background. --Samoa Joe (talk) 23:58, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
Alright, should be much better now. At least on my monitor. --Samoa Joe (talk) 00:03, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
Perfect, looks great! --Porplemontage (talk) 00:05, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

Main page[edit]

Hey, sorry about the main page looking a little different than intended. Me and KSM were in the middle of trying out something new when he had to get off. Longer short of it, we're trying to apply the Gummiphone background for the main page boxes below the game portal, starting with the Quote of the Moment. [This backdrop specifically]. It's why the icons were changed - the idea is to emulate the gummiphone and X tres menu. [From his experiment], it turned out quite good! Do you think you can apply it while retaining the rounded edges and shadow effect? Now admittedly, the backdrop is temporary - Shard will extract the full res version and I'll just reupload it, but until then this will work. --Samoa Joe (talk) 01:36, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Ok, if you hard refresh you should see it. You can just re-upload File:Main-boxbg.png --Porplemontage (talk) 01:51, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! What do you think? Looks better now, with a more consistent theme? --Samoa Joe (talk) 02:01, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, very nice! --Porplemontage (talk) 02:10, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Oof, thanks for that! It loaded quickly for me, even on mobile, but I totally forgot to consider other people's network woes. XP Thanks for catching it and correcting it! --Samoa Joe (talk) 03:50, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Happy to help! --Porplemontage (talk) 03:51, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Thumbnails not displaying properly[edit]

God I hope this wasn't me lol, but I may have broken our wiki. :| I uploaded two files - nothing special, just the command deck windows for Dream Drop Distance HD and Re:coded. But when I added them to their respective pages, I noticed that all the thumbnails no longer display transparencies correctly! They have white backgrounds, instead of the grey thumbnail gradients they're supposed to. Before I uploaded and added the images, everything looked fine though. I have no idea how this happened....but it did! Sorry if it was me! --Samoa Joe (talk) 04:04, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

No worries; I fix --Porplemontage (talk) 08:12, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! :) --Samoa Joe (talk) 21:47, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

Site logo question[edit]

So...heads up, I'm totally being a little bit vain asking this, so you're completely in the right to tell me to piss off. XD But, you know the site/wiki rotates the logo between three images? Any possibility to increase that to....say five? --Samoa Joe (talk) 04:06, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Fine by me but it's ultimately up to the admins if they want to keep these changes. --Porplemontage (talk) 04:47, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
XD More than fair enough. Thank you! --Samoa Joe (talk) 04:51, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi I have seen you around the wiki a lot and wanted to say hello formally. MysteriousWonderer 17:51, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, welcome to the site --Porplemontage (talk) 17:52, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks!😊MysteriousWonderer 17:53, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Text scroll[edit]

I first want to say the scrolling text looks absolutely fantastic. I have one question, though. Is it possible to customize how long it takes for the text to loop for each individual image? If you look at the bottom one on the userspace page I made, you can see it takes a while for it to show up again. TheSilentHero 13:15, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

Thanks! Using your initial template to work from helped a lot. Now they will all repeat a moment after each loop. --Porplemontage (talk) 14:06, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Perfect, thanks! TheSilentHero 17:53, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
