Composition[edit]

"An Intense Situation" is approximately forty-eight seconds long, regardless of the game it appears in.

In Kingdom Hearts, the instrumentation includes: strings, flute, snare drum, timpani, and piano. In the HD remake, the instrumentation includes: strings, snare drum, timpani, and piano. Although the versions are similar, the arrangement used in Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX places more emphasis on the strings section- especially the violins. In Kingdom Hearts, the piece favors more of the constant and aggressive rhythms played by the various drums throughout the percussion section. In both games, the foreboding tone is quickly established and felt due to the piece's: key signature, favoring of lower-pitched tones, and persistent rhythms across the percussion section.
