Composition[edit]

"La Pace" is approximately one minute and twenty-eight seconds long and plays at a tempo of 56 beats per minute. It has a time signature of 4/4 time and is written in the key of Bb [B flat] Major for the entire piece. "La Pace" does not have an introduction or conclusion, allowing for smooth transitions between loops. Each loop is eight measures long, lasting around thirty-five seconds each. The instrumentation consists of: a complete strings section, music box or vibraphone, choir, and harp.

The piece's simple, eighth note melody is played exclusively by the vibraphone, sometimes with the inclusion of double stops. In Kingdom Hearts, the vibraphone was swapped with a music box. Underneath this is progression of major chords in the strings- playing in the pizzicato style- and choir part. The harp serves as a countermelody to the vibraphone, the two instruments' eighth notes trading off each other's beat. The rhythmic pulse is maintained by the whole notes in the choir, plus the pizzicato strings on beats two and four. Although a simple, repetitive theme, it is this simplicity in rhythms and reduced instrumentation that creates a minimalist, yet "peaceful" style.
