Urd is a character in Kingdom Hearts Dark Road. She is one of Xehanort's and Eraqus's classmates and a fellow Keyblade wielder.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road[edit]

Urd is a student training under Odin in Scala ad Caelum, alongside her fellow lower classmen Xehanort, Eraqus, Vor, Hermod, Bragi, and Baldr. One day, Urd and her classmates, excluding Baldr, are summoned to class, where Odin informs them that the upper classmen have gone missing, and asks them to search the other worlds for the missing students. Odin explains how to travel between worlds, and gives the lower classmen Keyblade Armor to protect them. The lower classmen split into groups for the search. After searching another world, the groups then head to Wonderland.

While fighting Heartless, Urd is captured and detained by Card Soldiers along with her two classmates, and they are then put on trial for trespassing and disturbing the peace. As the Queen of Hearts declares them guilty, their remaining classmates intervene.

Urd, Xehanort, and Eraqus are informed by the Cheshire Cat that their friends have been locked up. The trio are soon accosted by Card Soldiers, but the Card Soldiers quickly leave to attend a trial, and the trio follow them in order to rescue their friends. After listening in, they decide to intervene.

The darkness in the Queen of Heart's heart summons the Ferry Reaper, which the lower classmen fight off. After fighting it off, the lower classmen regroup, and speculate that darkness is responsible for the upper classmen's disappearance. The group decide to split up again, with half staying in Wonderland to search for more clues, and the other half leaving. Later, the lower classmen split into new groups and continue searching, with Urd, Hermod, and Bragi together. When they next reconvene, Xehanort and Eraqus inform them that Vor left with Vidar, one of the missing upper classmen. The lower classmen try to inform Odin of Vor's departure, but are unable to contact him. The group debates whether to search for Vor, or to keep pursuing the upper classmen, leading Eraqus and Xehanort to argue, with Urd intervening. Ultimately, Urd, Xehanort, and Hermod decide to search for the upper classmen in new worlds, while Eraqus and Bragi leave to ask the Magic Mirror about Vor's location.

Urd, Xehanort, and Hermod arrive at Beast's Castle and meet the castle' residents. Initially Lumiere wants to introduce Urd to the Beast because she is girl, but this is shot down by the other residents. Cogsworth explains that two visitors have stolen the Beast's rose, and the lower classmen, suspecting that the visitors are the missing upper classmen, offer to help find the rose. As they speak to the Beast, they are attacked by Heartless, and the Beast becomes enraged when he sees their Keyblades and chases them out. As they continue to fight Heartless, Urd leaves Hermod and Xehanort to chase one Heartless into the ballroom, where she is ambushed by a large group of Heartless. Just as Urd is about to be overwhelmed, Vala, who was watching from above, jumps down and dispatches the Heartless. Vala is impressed by Urd's determination and light, and offers for her to join the upper classmen's mission. When Urd questions her about this plan, Vala openly doubts Urd's usefulness and changes her mind. Vali jumps down and gives Urd the Beast's rose, which Vala explains is essential to the world's order. Vala and Vali then leave. Xehanort, Urd, and Hermod reunite, and return to the rose to the Beast. Lumiere asks Urd to stay, but she declines.

Urd suggests they should return to Agrabah to search for Eraqus and Bragi. While there, Urd continues to dwell on her encounter with Vala and Vali, and eventually admits this to the group, but her explanation is interrupted by Jafar, who loudly worries about the lamp in the Cave of Wonders. Although Urd and Xehanort are suspicious of Jafar, Xehanort volunteers the lower classmen's help and they access the Cave of Wonders, where they spot Eraqus and chase after him. After finding Eraqus and Bragi, and discovering that Jafar was tricking them, they prepare to leave, but Urd suggests they should stay and search for the lamp, as she suspects it is essential to the world's order and could lead them to the upper classmen. As they find the magic lamp, Vidar arrives with Vor to take the lamp. Vidar explains his plan to upset the world order in order to find seven pure lights to counter true darkness. The lower classmen argue that this is wrong, and he ultimately decides to return the lamp, bidding Eraqus to use it instead, and leaves with Vor once again. Eraqus is conflicted by this choice, and is comforted by Urd and Xehanort.

The lower classmen return to Scala ad Caelum, and inform Odin of what they've learned. Odin explains that Vidar seeks Kingdom Hearts, and tells the lower classmen their mission is over. Alone, the lower classmen discuss their worry for Vor and how to proceed. As they lament their lack of leads, Baldr returns and joins them. He explains that he had followed the upper classmen on their journey, and seen Hoder die, and suggests they go to the Underworld to talk to their spirits.

In Olympus Coliseum, Hades finds the group and offers to let them into the Underworld if they win the tournament. After the tournament, Hades warps the entire group to the Underworld, but separates them. Urd and Hermod end up together, and are eventually found by Xehanort and Eraqus. After Xehanort and Eraqus explain that they left Baldr and Bragi fighting Cerberus, Hermod and Urd decide to go after them and plan to meet back up with Xehanort and Eraqus later. Unable to find Bragi and Baldr, Urd decides to wait at the meeting place while Hermod continues to search. Xehanort and Eraqus return, and the trio decide to ask Hades to track down Hermod, Bragi, and Baldr. Hades instead taunts them about keeping Bragi or Baldr, causing them to fight, but Hermod arrives and intervenes. Hades continues to taunt the lower classmen, and Hermod joins their side, but before they can start the fight, a dark portal appears and sucks the lower classmen inside.

Hermod and Urd end up together in a Corridor of Darkness, and put on their armor to stave off the oppressive darkness. However, as they wait for help, the darkness continues to weaken them. Finally, they see Baldr, but he instead attacks them with darkness, killing them both.

Design[edit]

Urd (Keyblade Armor)
Urd's Keyblade Armor.

Urd has amber eyes and shoulder-length straight grey hair pulled into a ponytail on the left side, with neat bangs and a loose portion on either side, framing her face. She wears a long-sleeved grey shirt with large white cuffs and light green cross-straps forming an "X" over her chest, as well as loose, high-waisted light-grey pants with a repeated triangle pattern at the bottom, and chunky black heeled boots. She has a wide white belt with gold trim and a red ribbon around it with a gold Terra's Mark pendant at the center. She also wears a long black coat with short flared sleeves, gold trim, and yellow inner lining, and a high collar that partially covers her chin.

Urd's Keyblade Armor is primarily dark grey and metallic blue with white-gold details. The base is dark grey with decorative pale blue lines and a metallic blue chest piece, flared gauntlets on each wrist with a sharp, curved wing, and sharply-pointed armored boots with angular white-gold kneepads. It has ornate white-gold pauldrons with pointed black stones set into them, and similar pieces on each hip, with a bronze piece bridging them. Her helmet is grey with a metallic blue front piece that is higher up than typical, exposing more of her magenta visor, with jagged prongs on either side that spike downward and a gold Terra's Mark emblem on the front, and a white-gold chin guard and a hole in the side for her ponytail. Urd's armor is similar to the female Union armor from Kingdom Hearts χ, with identical helmet prongs and a similar color palette to the Anguis armor.

In Norse mythology, Urðr is one of the Norns, specifically associated with the past.

Personality[edit]

Urd is prudent, coolheaded, and possesses keen instincts. She is relied on by her fellow classmates.

Abilities[edit]

Like her classmates, Urd wields the Keyblade, and is said to be a natural with the weapon. In battle, she specializes in Blizzard magic.
