Vala is a character in Kingdom Hearts Dark Road. She is a Keyblade wielder and one of the upper classmen.
Story[edit]
Before Kingdom Hearts Dark Road[edit]
Vala trains as a Keyblade wielder in Scala ad Caelum under Odin, alongside her fellow upper classmen Vidar, Vali, Hoder, Heimdall, Helgi, and Sigrun. In preparation for her Mark of Mastery exam, she and her classmates travel to other worlds to observe the world order in them. They encounter strife in each world due to the conflicting views of their residents.
In Enchanted Dominion, Vala and her classmates learn that Aurora has been cursed by Maleficent, and debate whether they should interfere. While the group rests for the night, Hoder sneaks away, and the remaining classmates decide to split up to search for her. Vala, Vidar, and Vali decide to go together, with the other three leaving first. However, Vala and her friends are too late, and learn that Hoder, Heimdall, Helgi, and Sigrun have been killed, and swear revenge.
After learning that Hoder's younger brother Baldr was the one to kill Hoder and her classmates after being consumed by darkness, Vala, Vali, and Vidar decide to instead summon Kingdom Hearts to purge the darkness. Led by Vidar, Vala and Vali decide to steal the essential objects of other worlds to make them fall to chaos, in hopes of bringing out the seven pure lights needed to open Kingdom Hearts.
Kingdom Hearts Dark Road[edit]
Vala and Vali travel to Beast's Castle, where they steal the Beast's enchanted rose. After Xehanort, Hermod and Urd arrive, Vala watches as Urd becomes separated and surrounded by Heartless, suspecting Urd is one of the lights she is looking for. As they overwhelm Urd, Vala intervenes and dispatches the Heartless. Impressed by Urd's performance and seeing her as a strong light, Vala invites Urd to join her. Urd tries to ask about Vala's plan, but Vala refuses to answer, and begins doubting Urd's usefulness and obedience. Vali jumps down and gives the Beast's rose to Urd, which Vala asks Urd to return. Then Vala and Vali leave.
Eventually, the upper classmen decide against summoning Kingdom Hearts. Vala and Vali return to Scala ad Caelum with Vidar and Vor. Vor leaves to search for Odin, and Vala, Vali, and Vidar encounter Xehanort and Eraqus at the Stairway to the Sky. They admit they were aware of Baldr's plans, which enrages Eraqus, causing him to attack Vidar. Vala, Vali, and Vidar fight Eraqus and Xehanort, until Xehanort convinces Eraqus to stop. Baldr arrives, surrounded by darkness, and taunts the group before summoning Heartless to stall them while he leaves to find Vor.
After dispatching the Heartless, Vala, Vali, and Vidar rush after Baldr, and encounter him in the tower with Vor. They fight Baldr, but, just as Eraqus and Xehanort arrive, Baldr summons the Hringhorn which quickly kills Vala, Vali, and Vidar.
Design[edit]
Vala is a young woman with pale skin, green eyes, black glasses, and very long silver hair which is shoulder-length in the front and reaches to her thighs in the back. She wears a sleeveless yellow shirt with a high, puffy collar, and criss-crossing thin black straps forming an "X" over her chest with a silver Terra's Mark charm at the intersection. She wears a cream obi-sash and hakama with a pale turquoise trim, with a red cord tied into a knot over the obi-sash. On the lower left leg, her hakama have a yellow floral pattern around peach-colored symbols that somewhat resemble Terra's Mark. She also wears black fingerless gloves partially covered by puffy, pale-yellow detached sleeves with frilly cream trim and two black buttons on the side, as well as black boots.
In Norse mythology, a Vala or Völva is a seeress, who can foretell the future and perform sorcery.
Abilities[edit]
Like her classmates, Vala wields the Keyblade.
