Vali is a character in Kingdom Hearts Dark Road. He is a Keyblade wielder and one of the upper classmen.
Story[edit]
Before Kingdom Hearts Dark Road[edit]
Vali trains as a Keyblade wielder in Scala ad Caelum under Odin, alongside his fellow upper classmen Vidar, Vala, Hoder, Heimdall, Helgi, and Sigrun. In preparation for his Mark of Mastery exam, he and his classmates travel to other worlds to observe the world order in them. They encounter strife in each world due to the conflicting views of their residents.
In Enchanted Dominion, Vali and his classmates learn that Aurora has been cursed by Maleficent, and debate whether they should interfere. While the group rests for the night, Vali discovers that Hoder has gone missing, and the remaining classmates decide to split up to search for her. Vali, Vala, and Vidar decide to go together, with the other three leaving first. However, Vali and his friends are too late, and learn that Hoder, Heimdall, Helgi, and Sigrun have been killed, and swear revenge.
After learning that Hoder's younger brother Baldr was the one to kill Hoder and her classmates after being consumed by darkness, Vali, Vala, and Vidar decide to instead summon Kingdom Hearts to purge the darkness. Led by Vidar, Vali and Vala decide to steal the essential objects of other worlds to make them fall to chaos, in hopes of bringing out the seven pure lights needed to open Kingdom Hearts.
Kingdom Hearts Dark Road[edit]
Vali and Vala travel to Beast's Castle, where they steal the Beast's enchanted rose. After Xehanort, Hermod and Urd arrive, Vali and Vala secretly observe them. When Urd becomes separated and surrounded by Heartless, Vala is impressed by her and offers her to join them, while Vali continues to observe from out of sight. Vala decides Urd isn't ready, and Vali reveals himself to Urd and gives her the Beast's rose to return to the Beast. Vali and Vala then leave.
Eventually, the upper classmen decide against summoning Kingdom Hearts. Vali and Vala return to Scala ad Caelum with Vidar and Vor. Vor leaves to search for Odin, and Vali, Vala, and Vidar encounter Xehanort and Eraqus at the Stairway to the Sky. They admit they were aware of Baldr's plans, which enrages Eraqus, causing him to attack Vidar. Vali, Vala, and Vidar fight Eraqus and Xehanort, until Xehanort convinces Eraqus to stop. Baldr arrives, surrounded by darkness, and taunts the group before summoning Heartless to stall them while he leaves to find Vor.
After dispatching the Heartless, Vali, Vala, and Vidar rush after Baldr, and encounter him in the tower with Vor. They fight Baldr, but, just as Eraqus and Xehanort arrive, Baldr summons the Hringhorn which quickly kills Vali, Vala, and Vidar.
Design[edit]
Vali has pale skin, feathery black hair reaching about his ears, and aquamarine eyes. He wears a black mask over his nose and mouth with two silver buttons on the left side, which seamlessly connects to a high-collared, sleeveless black shirt. He wears a loose, tasseled light-grey cloth around his waist on the left side, over which he wears layered dark-grey metal plates with gold trim, resembling samurai armor. Two orange cords are wrapped around the top plate and tied at the center beneath a gold Terra's Mark emblem, with two hanging tassels. He also wears black fingerless gloves with large cuffs, baggy black pants, and black shoes with orange trim and grey lines forming an "X" on their trunks, and has bandages wrapped around his left arm.
In Norse mythology, Váli was a son of Odin born solely to avenge the death of Baldr.
Abilities[edit]
Like his classmates, Vali wields the Keyblade.
