Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]
Kairi's Grandma finds Kairi after Aqua and Mickey save her granddaughter from a swarm of Unversed. As they walk away, Kairi asks her grandmother to tell her favorite story about the light and the darkness, as Aqua listens in the background.
Kingdom Hearts[edit]
While in Traverse Town, Sora suddenly experiences one of Kairi's memories—a memory of Kairi's grandmother telling the story of light and darkness while reading in Hollow Bastion's library. After Kairi is rescued and taken to Traverse Town's Underwater Cavern, she tells Sora that there is a deeper meaning to this story, and that it was "more than just a fairy tale".
