Cure (card).png
"Heal!"

Cure (ケアル Kearu?), Cura (ケアルラ Kearura?, lit. "Curera"), and Curaga (ケアルガ Kearuga?, lit. "Curega") are a series of magic introduced in Kingdom Hearts. They utilize the "power of healing" and are associated with the Bright and Shining materials. Cure magic restores HP to the user, or to a party member.

Visually, Cure magic invokes flowers or plants.

Story

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Mickey uses Cure on Ventus when the boy battles Vanitas for the first time.

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories

Donald uses Curaga to heal Sora from Larxene's attacks in the 12F Exit Hall.[1]

Kingdom Hearts II

Aerith uses Curaga to heal Yuffie during the Battle of the 1000 Heartless.

Mechanics

Kingdom Hearts

In Kingdom Hearts, Curaga summons a quartet of floral bells that sprinkle healing light onto the target.

In Kingdom Hearts, Cure is defensive magic that can be used by Sora and Donald. Cure restores a small amount of HP to one member of the party. The higher-tier Cura and Curaga restore increasingly larger amounts of HP. Cure magic costs 1 MP to use, and its power is determined by the following equations:

  • Cure:
    • HP Restored = (Max MP × 3) + 9[KH I]
    • HP Restored = Max MP + 15[KH I FM]
  • Cura:
    • HP Restored = (Max MP × 3) + 27[KH I]
    • HP Restored = Max MP + 27[KH I FM]
  • Curaga:
    • Fully recovers HP[KH I]
    • HP Restored = Max MP + 36[KH I FM]

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories

In Chain of Memories, Curaga is visually the same as Kingdom Hearts.

In Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Cure is a magic card that can be used by Sora.

The Donald friend card and its associated sleights can cast Cure magic when used.

  • Cure: Restored HP = 50
  • Cura: Restored HP = 150
  • Curaga: Restored HP = 300

Kingdom Hearts II

In Kingdom Hearts II, Curaga instead features a light palette of flowers as well as flying petals around the screen.

In Kingdom Hearts II, Cure magic heals the user and all nearby party members. It costs all of the user's remaining MP to use, starting MP Charge. Upgrading the spell increases the range of the healing field. Its power is determined by the following equations:

  • Cure: Magic × 4 (× 2 on allies)
  • Cura: Magic × 5 (× 2.5 on allies)
  • Curaga: Magic × 6 (× 3 on allies)

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix

In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Cure magic heals the user and all nearby party members.

If Damage Control is equipped, the power of the spell is halved.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

In 358/2 Days, Curaga is the same as Kingdom Hearts II, but features less visuals.

In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Cure, Cura, and Curaga are magic panels. Their potency depends on their levels.

  • Cure KHD.png Cure heals a portion of the user's HP.
  • Cura KHD.png Cura continues to restore the user's HP over time, similar to Regen.
  • Curaga KHD.png Curaga creates an HP recovery field for the user and their allies.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

In Birth by Sleep, Curaga features one large flower above the caster with swirls extending downwards and flowers swirling around.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Cure, Cura, and Curaga are magic commands that allow the user to restore a portion of their HP. Its power is determined by the following equations:

  • Cure: Magic + 15
  • Cura: Magic + 30
  • Curaga: Magic + 50
  • Cure is a Basic magic command that takes up one slot in the Command Deck, has a maximum level of 3, and has a normal reload time of 30 seconds.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

In Dream Drop Distance, Curaga summons a magenta-colored lotus flower above the caster with vines and green lights.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Cure, Cura and Curaga are magic command that allow the user to restore a portion of HP to the party. Its power is determined by the following equations:

  • Cure: Magic + 50
  • Cura: Magic + 100

  • Cure is a magic command that uses one slot in the Command Deck, and has a reload time of 20 seconds. It grants +10 to maximum HP and +1 to Magic when attached to a Dream Eater recipe.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-

In Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-, Curaga is a default magic spell usable by Aqua and King Mickey. It restores the target's health when used, but at the cost of all of the user's remaining MP. On all difficulty modes except for Critical Mode, Aqua is briefly invulnerable when casting Curaga, akin to the Leaf Bracer ability.

Kingdom Hearts III

In Kingdom Hearts III, Cure magic behaves similarly to its Kingdom Hearts II counterpart. Its power is determined by the following equations:

  • Cure: Magic + 80
  • Cura: Magic + 120
  • Curaga: Magic + 160

Curaza is a Grand Magic Situation Command that heals everyone in the vicinity to maximum health.
