"May your heart be your guiding key. I say it all the time, you ultimately need to do what your heart feels is right."
—The Master of Masters

The Master of Masters[1], also known simply as The Master, is a Keyblade Master that appears Kingdom Hearts χ. He is responsible for creating the Book of Prophecies using his gift of foresight, as well as for training his apprentices Luxu, Ava, Gula, Invi, Aced, and Ira.[2]

Story

Before Kingdom Hearts χ

According to the Player's Chirithy, the five Foretellers and Luxu were the apprentices of his creator, "The Master of Masters". Shortly before he disappeared, the Master of Masters assigned his disciples new names and gifted five of them with a tome from the Book of Prophecies, which taught them of the event that would doom the world. Quest 94: Where's Chirithy? Pt. 2 He also assigned the Foretellers new roles: while Ira was appointed as the new leader with Aced as Ira's right-hand man and Invi as Ira's news source, Gula was given the Lost Page of the Book of Prophecies and ordered to use it to figure out who the mysterious traitor was, and Ava was assigned to assemble an army of Keyblade wielders to flee Daybreak Town on the outset of the war. Meanwhile, the Master passed on his Keyblade and a mysterious case to Luxu, explaining that his Gazing Eye inside the blade should observe the events unfolding and, by passing down the Keyblade from master to apprentice, even observe the future so the Master can create the Book of Prophecies. Kingdom Hearts χ

After helping Chirithy fend off the Minute Bombs in Daybreak Town, the Player goes to sleep and has a dream in which the five Foretellers are conversing with their master. Before the Player has a chance to approach the Foretellers and their mysterious visitor, they are engulfed in darkness and wake up. Quest 359: A Job Never Done Pt. 9

Later, when the Player has another dream of Ephemer entering the clock tower through the sewers, the Master of Masters can be seen watching him from the shadows. Quest 411: Investigating Ephemer Pt. 8

Appearance

The Master of Masters conceals himself in a black coat. His eyes, one of which he has placed in Master Xehanort's Keyblade, are blue with catlike pupils.

Personality

The Master of Masters is rarely serious, but is rather snarky and prone to goofy actions and movements. With his Gazing Eye, he knows what will happen in the future, and has taken a carefree look to the impending Keyblade War. He entrusts Luxu with what will eventually become Master Xehanort's Keyblade, a Keyblade in which he has placed his Gazing Eye so that he will have precognition of everything the blade observes through the ages as it is handed down, and shows curiosity about how the world will be once the war is over. Abilities

The Master of Masters is an immensely powerful being, who commands the respect of the Foretellers. He possesses the capability to pull Keyblades from the hearts of others,[citation needed]. He was even able to place his Gazing Eye in his Keyblade in order to gain precognition of all it would see through the ages, which he used to create the Book of Prophecies, a magical tome that prophesies the future and can even create manifestations of worlds and people who only exist in the future. The Master of Masters was also the one who created the Chirithy Dream Eaters to act as partners for the Keyblade wielders of the Unions.
