Flowmotion (フリーフローアクション Furī Furō Akushon?, lit. "Free Flow Action") is an ability available to Sora and Riku in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance which allows them to traverse their respective environments with greater ease. Using Flowmotion, Sora and Riku can jump off of walls, grind rails, leap great heights, and dynamically attack opponents.

Mechanics

Flowmotion is activated by pressing Y to Dodge Roll or Air Slide into a wall or other surface or object that is compatible with Flowmotion. By inputting this command, Sora or Riku will perform a context-sensitive action. For example, if pressing Y into a wall, Sora or Riku will briefly stick to the wall and jump off of it. If pressing Y into a pole, Sora or Riku will swiftly rotate around the pole.

Once Flowmotion is activated, there are three possible courses of action to take. Pressing Y whilst using Flowmotion allows the player to perform a swift midair dash that allows Sora or Riku to maneuver into another Flowmotion-compatible surface. Pressing B causes the player to perform a high jump in midair, allowing them to cover more vertical ground. Pressing A during Flowmotion allows the user to perform a context-sensitive attack that depends on what other Flowmotion action the player is using at the moment of attack.
