The Queen is in an uproar of the sudden disappearance. She dismisses all of her Card Soldiers to search for Alice. She also orders Donald, Goofy, and Sora to be beheaded. The trio flees, starting their own separate search for Alice.

The group debates on what really happened to Alice. They speculate that she has been taken by the Heartless...or someone manipulating the Heartless. Suddenly, the Cheshire Cat appears, asking if the group is searching for Alice. Sora confirms, asking if the cat has seen her. He says no, instead claiming to know where the shadow is. The Cheshire Cat rambles on, ending with a question for the group: "Did you know that when you turn on the light, a shadow is made?" A giant Heartless then appears. The group claims the cat has tricked them. The Cheshire Cat says otherwise, claiming he is only there to help the weak. Seeing the group suffer against the Heartless's flaming attacks, the Cheshire Cat teaches Sora his first magic attack: blizzard.
