==Synopsis==
'''Chapter 21: Beneath the Snow''' is the twenty-first chapter in the ''{{c|Kingdom Hearts II|manga}}'' manga.
The Imperial army survives the avalanche, though Shan-Yu and his Heartless army do not, instead buried beneath the snow. As the men celebrate their victory and congratulations with Ping, her true identity is revealed. Chi-Fu orders Mulan's death, but Sora counters, claiming that they would be dead if it weren't for Mulan. Chi-Fu leaves Mulan's fate to the captain, who nullifies his previous debt to her. The Imperial army leaves for the Imperial city, leaving Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Mulan behind. As the trio argues over how this could have been prevented, Mulan worries over how she can approach her father now. Back towards the mountain peak it is revealed that Shan-Yu has survived the avalanche. He summons the Storm Rider and flies towards the Imperial city. Sora and the others follow in pursuit, determined to warn Shang.

In the Imperial city, The Emperor acknowledges Shang's successful operation. Suddenly, a man dressed in a hooded black coat appears, warning The Emperor of an impending Heartless attack. The Imperial city is evacuated just as Shan-Yu begins his assault. As Sora and the others enter the city, they pass the hooded figure. Prioritizing Shan-Yu and the Heartless threat first, the group leaves the figure behind. Once reunited with the army, Shang gives Sora a [[paopu fruit]], stating that the hooded figure from earlier told him to give it to Sora. Sora deduces that the cloaked figure from before was Riku.
