Chapter 16: A Sad Choice is the sixteenth chapter in the Kingdom Hearts II manga.

The front page shows Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Beast staring as Xaldin leaps into the air while holding Belle.

Story[edit]

In an attempt to get Beast to join Organization XIII, Xaldin threatens Belle's life. However, she elbows him in the stomach, causing him to drop her. Beast manages to catch Belle, and Xaldin summons the Shadow Stalker in retaliation. The Shadow Stalker damages the castle with its chains, causing an earthquake in the dungeon, where the servants are locked up. The Shadow Stalker keeps hiding in the walls, making it hard for Sora to attack it. Beast comes up with an idea, and asks Donald and Goofy to take care of Belle. Donald notices blood on Belle's clothes and casts Cure, but she claims it's not her blood. Beast grabs hold of the Shadow Stalker's chains and keeps it pinned down, while Sora takes it out with a powerful strike.

In the dungeon, the servants try to escape from the earthquakes. The earthquakes caused the walls around the dungeon's door to weaken, allowing them to break down the door. Upon their escape, they find Beast wounded on the floor. Xaldin stands above him, with his lances ready to strike if anyone moves. Goofy tells Donald to heal Beast, but Donald says he used all his MP on Belle. Xaldin sweeps up the servants with a gust of wind, and gives Beast the choice between his own life and the lives of his servants.

Worlds and characters[edit]
