Story Section for Player (KHχ)

Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]

Through their pursuit of light, the Player is chosen as a candidate to be a Keyblade wielder, joining one of the five Unions of Daybreak Town to fight against darkness. Arriving at Daybreak Town, Player encounters a Darkside, but the Foreteller acting as their new Union leader arrives and confronts it. There, Player is greeted by their very own Chirithy, who teaches Player combat, their quest to collect Lux, and the status of their fight against darkness. After the Town's Moogle introduces them to their Card system, Player runs into their Union leader. A Darkside appears, but this time the Union leader encourages Player to team up against it with other wielders from the same Union. After the Darkside's defeat, the Union leader instructs them to pursue light and be wary of those who walk the path of darkness. The Union leader departs, the wielders disperse, and Chirithy teaches Player to use the Lanes between to travel to other worlds and fight against darkness.

In Dwarf Woodlands, Player meets Doc who asks them to help him find the other six missing Dwarfs, and after exploring the woods and mines, they manage to find Happy, Grumpy, and Sleepy. In Wonderland, Player takes a shrinking potion and encounters the Doorknob, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, and a young girl named Alice, helping them along the way. In the outskirts of Agrabah, Player helps the wounded Aladdin and Palace Guards after being attacked by Heartless, receives missions to protect the city from the bulletin board, and learns of Aladdin's friend Abu being taken by the Red Bandit. During their travels, Player is approached by Moogle and loaned a Light Draw Bangle in order to obtain Crystals of Light from Raid Bosses, unaware of the Moogle's reluctant exchange with the Nightmare Chirithy.

After various adventures, the Nightmare Chirithy approaches Player itself, posing as the Player's normal Chirithy in order to convince them to take the Power Bangle and grow stronger. Eventually, Chirithy informs the Player of the Foretellers and the Book of Prophecies, and how all Unions fight to prevent the dark prophesied War, even if their paths differ. Across the various worlds, Darkballs begin to appear, and once Chirithy investigates their origins, Player travels to Olympus Coliseum to defeat them. They are allowed to enter the Tournament on Hercules's behalf, and proceed through the Preliminaries. Back at Daybreak Town, inside the Moogle's Shop, Player reunites with three Keyblade wielders who helped them on their first fight with a Darkside. The trio speak of a new heartless, Neoshadows appearing around town, and they recruit the Player to help fight them off, promising to reunite at the shop later. After clearing the Neoshadows, Player returns to the shop, only to hear the unfortunate news from Chirithy that the wielders had perished in the fight. Chirithy relays a message from the leader of the wielders, apologizing that he couldn't keep his promise to them, before Chirithy leaves.

Player returns for the beginning of the Tournament, combating in 5 rounds, before meeting with one of the participants, Cloud. In the Woodlands, Player finds Sneezy, Dopey, and Bashful, then saves the Light of this world, Snow White, from Heartless. However, after some time, Snow falls into a deep sleep by a poison apple, but once the Player and the Dwarfs confront and defeat the Hag, she is saved by a kiss from the Prince. In Daybreak Town, a Gummi Ship containing Donald and Goofy crash-lands in the park, and they ask the Player’s help in collecting Gummi Pieces to rebuild it. After several failed builds and some encounters with Chip, Dale, and King Mickey, Player manages to bring enough pieces to rebuild the ship and allow all five to depart, all the while Foreteller Invi watches them. Back in Olympus, Hercules goes after Hades to save Cloud, who had volunteered to join him, but despite Chirithy’s warnings of the darkness within the Underworld, Player decides to follow them. They accept Hades’s offer to train them in wielding the darkness, but once he kidnaps Hercules, they retaliate and fight back against him with Cloud.

One night, after helping Moogle recover lost merchandise, Chirithy secretly shows Player a dream in which the Master of Masters speaks to the Foretellers within the Clock Tower. However, Nightmare Chirithy interferes with the dream, waking Player up, and Chirithy convinces Player to go back to sleep. The next day, Moogle sends Player to fight an Invisible at Waterfront Park, wherein Player saves a Keyblade wielder. The wielder introduces himself as Ephemer from a different Union, and as thanks, he tells Player what he’s been working on outside of his Union duties. He reveals to Player that the various worlds they visit are projections, created in order to harvest the light of this world, and he theorizes that the Book of Prophecies is what creates these projections. Player recounts their dream to Ephemer, and the pair decide to investigate the Tower for more clues.

With help from Moogle, the pair lower the river’s water level and enter the sewers. After Ephemer saves Player from another Invisible, the pair find the secret passage into the Tower, but Ephemer convinces them that it’s too late for the day, and that they should meet up tomorrow at the Fountain Square. At night, Player excitedly tells Chirithy about their new friend and their meeting tomorrow, but on the next day, Player is left waiting alone at the Fountain for Ephemer to arrive. Another wielder, Strelitzia, spots Player as she leaves for her daily mission, and finds them still waiting at the Fountain at the end of the day. She overlooks the Square from the rooftops as Chirithy approaches and consoles the tearful Player, ensuring them that their friend must’ve had something important for him to break his promise.

From that day on, Player encounters Strelitzia over the course of their adventures in each world, but Player ever notices her presence. In Wonderland, Player helps Alice and the White Rabbit out of trouble, meets the Mad Hatter and March Hare, and defends Alice in court against the Queen of Hearts, discovering that Alice is the light of this world. Back at Daybreak Town, Player runs a free trial on the Moogle O’ Glory Keyblade for Moogle, while Donald, Goofy, Chip, and Dale return in another crash-landing searching for “the Key.” When Player attempts to return the Keyblade, it disappears from Moogle’s hands and back to Player, letting them keep it. The four travelers are forced to board their ship before it could take off on its own, but forget to bring “the Key” (Player) with them.

One night, Ephemer appears within Player’s dream and tells them to find him, before disappearing at the entrance of the Tower. Player awakens, determined to enter the Tower and find Ephemer, but Chirithy attempts to dissuade them from going inside, warning them that the Foretellers had been feuding as of late. The next day, Player asks various wielders for information, and learns that the leader of Vulpes, Master Ava, is gathering wielders from across Unions, and that she had been seen speaking with Ephemer in the past. Player goes to meet a wielder wearing a Pumpkin head, who tells them that he spotted Master Ava heading towards the Tower, so Player takes the entrance in the sewer. They encounter Master Ava, who reprimands them for attempting to enter the Tower based on rumors. Player explains their dream to Ava and their determination to find Ephemer, and Ava decides to challenge them to a battle. Player loses, and Ava tells them that she sense sadness in their heart, and that they should move on from Ephemer or else draw darkness back in. While they slept that night, Ava appeared in their room, speaking with Chirithy about the dream Ephemer sent to Player.

Player travels to a new world, Beast’s Castle, to hunt the Heartless drawn there, and encounters the Beast. He locks Player in a cell, but is released by Belle and the other attendants of the Castle. Remembering Master Ava’s words and believing the sadness in Beast’s heart draws the Heartless, Player teams up with the Beast to combat them. Before Player can return back after obtaining some peace, Heartless return to the Castle as Gaston arrives to kill the Beast, only for both to defeat each other. With a kiss from this world’s light, Belle, the Beast is restored to his human form. Back in Daybreak Town, under orders from Player’s Union leader, Chirithy gives them a Bracelet of Light and allows them to traverse the Corridors of Darkness to train and become stronger in the presence of darkness, preparing for the fight to come.

One day, returning from a mission, Player is approached by a different wielder named Skuld, who tells them that Ephemer used to be in her party in the past. She informs them of a dream she had of Ephemer, where he told her to find and help Player, and then Player informs her of their adventures with Ephemer and the dreams they’ve had. While Skuld and Player decide on entering the Tower –and Chirithy tries to dissuade them–, the group see the Foretellers Aced and Invi fighting each other among the rooftops. Skuld tells them that Ephemer said the world was coming to an end, and Player decides to investigate the Tower, but as they cross the bridge, new Heartless named Darklings appear, drawn to Lux. With the Darklings defeated, they retreat as Nightmare Chirithy appears before the group, fully tainted in darkness now, and attempting to harvest the Lux from wielders through the Darklings. Nightmare Chirithy reveals that the Darklings used to be Keyblade wielders who were consumed by darkness and don’t fight using the cards given by the Book of Prophecies. Chirithy asks it who their wielder is, and after a cryptic answer, it disappears.

Player, Chirithy, and Skuld arrive at the secret entrance to the Tower, and Chirithy reluctantly leads the pair to the Foretellers’ Chambers. While at first empty and with no sign of Ephemer, soon the Player’s Union leader arrives (if the Player is in Vulpes, then Master Ira appears instead of Ava). The Union leader reprimands Chirithy, and informs the group that Ephemer had used the Player to obtain Lux for his own needs, and as such the Foreteller slayed him. Chirithy attempts to take the blame of Player and Skuld trespassing, but Player stands up to the Foreteller, declaring that Ephemer was their friend and that they must confront the Foreteller, even if it means accepting darkness into their heart.

Player and the Foreteller fight, and after Player collapses, the illusion around the room disappears, and Master Ava stands before the group. She reveals the world’s end and the war that will ensue, her role in gathering wielders to form the Dandelions, and recognized Ephemer as the perfect candidate to lead the Dandelions in her stead, taking him to “the next world.” She describes that a wielder in Daybreak Town has been corrupted by darkness, as evident by the Nightmare Chirithy, and as such she has been testing wielders with a strong resistance to darkness to join the Dandelions. The pair are invited, and while Skuld gladly accepts, Player refrains so they can decide later, not wanting to leave the other wielders to perish in the Keyblade War to come. At the Fountain Square, Skuld tells Player her story of how she met Ephemer, and how she decided to join the Dandelions to meet with Ephemer once again. The pair then depart to continue on their journeys.

Back in Agrabah, Aladdin enlists the help of Player in order to find Abu. They delve into the desert and encounter the Red Bandit in its base, where they defeat it and rescue Abu from their clutches. Afterwards, during another event to collect Crystals of Light from the Moogle’s Light Draw Bangle, Player encounters a party of 10 wielders, led by a wielder named Captain. Among them, a girl dressed in pink stays behind to explore and a boy with an afro hides from the Heartless, while the rest engage in them for the Crystals. By the end of the event, however, only the girl in pink and a girl with a pirate bandana can be found, and at least four of the other wielders are turned into Darklings themselves.

A few months later, Player witnesses two Keyblade wielders arguing with each other in the Fountain Square about their respective Unions being traitors. While Player was going to leave them alone, they intervene once both wielders draw their Keyblades to fight. Skuld appears to calm them down, but a crowd of wielders appear to join in the argument. Master Aced arrives, and states that wielders don’t need Lux as long as they have strength. Skuld disagrees, but Master Aced dismisses her remarks, as she is a member of the Dandelions. As such, Players steps up to Master Aced, but the Foreteller challenges them to a fight. After defeating the Player, Aced declares that they are not worthy of the Keyblade, but Master Ira appears to stop Aced. Master Aced declares that he will banish all other Unions and stand as the remaining leader in order to end the War, and he departs. Master Ira informs Player and Skuld that the War is inevitable and that they must fight in order for no victor remain, and as he departs, Player collapses from their injury.

In a dream, Player stands within the Keyblade Graveyard, as various silhouettes stand around them and the light of Kingdom Hearts shines from above. Player wakes up to find themself in their bed, with Skuld and Chirithy beside them. Skuld informs Player that she’s been trying to convince others to join the Dandelions and not participate in the War, but to no avail. She also reveals Master Ava has gone missing, and when Chirithy proposes that Master Gula may know what happened to her, Player gets up and decides to meet him.

Player, Skuld, and Chirithy arrive to the building that Gula usually resides in, and as they walk in, the Chirithy of both Strelitzia and another wielder watch them enter. Inside, the group encounter Master Gula, who tells them that anything they do to stop the War is pointless, as the only person capable of doing so is the Master of Masters. Gula and Ava had searched for him to no avail, but Master Ava decided to find the Master’s sixth apprentice, Luxu, to ask for his whereabouts. Gula tells them the secret passage written in the Book’s Lost Page, which only Gula has, and how the traitor will be the one who will set the War in motion with a single strike, sounding the Clock Tower’s Bells. As they speak, the bells from the Clock Tower sound, commencing the beginning of the end.

Outside the building, Player and Skuld depart, the latter heading towards the Dandelions and asking the Player to abstain from the War. Chirithy asks the same from the Player, due to its connection as a Dream Eater, as well as being their friend, and so Player decides to not fight in the War. However, Nightmare Chirithy appears to taunt their decision to run away, and reveals that the Power Bangle given to them has been collecting darkness not to convert it into light but to use it as darkness itself, and how it was willed by the Master himself. Chirithy asks it who their wielder is, and Nightmare Chirithy reveals itself to be the Player’s Chirithy, with the main difference to the other Chirithy being it has a will of its own. Nightmare Chirithy summons Darklings to fight, and once they’re defeated, it absorbs the Darklings and becomes a Nightmare monster. With its defeat, Nightmare Chirithy disappears “for now,” and announces it’ll see the Player “in another dream.”

A few days later, Player has joined in the fray against the other Unions at the Keyblade War. As wielders fight each other, Player encounters and fights against four of the five Foretellers, all except their Union leader, one by one. With each battle, Player grows weaker, and they see other wielders fall, Keyblades land on the ground, and the hearts of others float into the sky. With four Foretellers fought, Player collapses on the ground in pain, and soon finds themself to be the last surviving person on the battlefield. Chirithy appears before them, embracing them and telling them to rest. The light of Kingdom Hearts appears in the sky, and what appears to be Skuld walks up to them. Behind her, Ephemer appears, and Player complains to him about breaking his promise, which he apologizes for. Ephemer reaches out his hand and signals Player to come with him to the next world. And so, the Player reaches out towards his hand.

After that, Player was taken into the Data World recreation of Daybreak Town, joining the Dandelions who had arrived prior to the Keyblade War. Player, along with the Dandelions, had their memories erased and relive all of their adventures across the many worlds, with minor changes sprinkled throughout their adventures, such as the omission of Light Draw Bangles. After the Player’s adventures in Beast’s Castle, they encounter two Dandelions from a different Union, one of which had distance himself from his friends. When he ventured alone to fight Heartless at Beast’s Castle, his friend got injured defending him, and Player was able to help him fight back.

Sometime after Player has relived their encounter with Master Ava and Skuld, they travel with Chirithy to the new world of Enchanted Dominion, to see if they could potentially become more open-minded to their decision with Master Ava. Player falls asleep in the forest, and then wakes up suddenly after experiencing a dream of the events of the Keyblade War, a memory that should have been repressed. Chirithy questions them about the dream, but insists that it must be due to exhaustion. After exploring the forest further, the pair discover a bridge leading towards a castle, the path covered in a thicket of black thorns. Chirithy suggests that they head back to Daybreak Town and, once they spot a flying raven, remarks about how nice it would be to fly.
