Featured Media is a place to show the artwork, images, and sounds that make this wiki an interesting and engaging experience for visitors. It will also encourage wiki members to improve the quality of existing works. The rules and guidelines are a work-in-progress; if you have suggestions, please leave them on the Talk Page.

Nomination Guidelines

So, what makes a bit of media eligible for nomination? Here are the guidelines:

  • The media should represent and support the article or articles it appears in. A full-body shot focusing on one character is better than a blurry screen capture where the character is in the image, but not the focus, for example. Orphan media not linked to an article or non-Kingdom Hearts materials that appears on User pages is not eligible.
  • The media should be appropriately high-quality. Images should be of good resolution with minimal or no artifacting, but not absurdly large. Sound clips should be clear and easy to hear, but not excessively long.
  • The media, like all things on the wiki, should be from official or officially-verified sources. No fan art, no matter how awesome.
  • The media nominated must be hosted in this wiki. Items hosted elsewhere, such as YouTube clips, are ineligible.
  • The media must meet guidelines for fair-use. A thirty-second sample of "Simple and Clean" is fine; the entire song uploaded to the wiki is not.

Nomination Process

You have something that meets the above rules, so now what? Well, on the first day of the month, post a link to your nominated media and sign your nomination with ~~~~! Remember, though, only one nomination per user per month! Pretty easy, right?

There is one more rule to keep this from becoming one big popularity contest. After the winning media is announced, any media in that category becomes ineligible for nominations for the next two months. For example, the image of an Angel Star was the selected media for October, 2008. That means that for the next two voting cycles in November and December, images from the Heartless Category were ineligible for nomination and would be dismissed if suggested. Likewise, the picture of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness would have also been ineligible, even though he appears in the Character category as well. Images with more than one category will only have one of them "blocked" to make sure there is a fair selection of categories available. There will always be two categories which images cannot be nominated from; they are listed at the top of the nomination block.

The category or categories are also considered "locked-in" from the beginning of the month, so don't bother changing them to get around the rules. Trying to edit media categories to suit your whims will only attract the wrath of staff and admins, and certainly get your nomination privileges revoked.

Voting

Editors have one vote; they must put their vote and signature, (~~~~) underneath the nominee of their choice. Those who nominated media can have their nomination counted as their vote and do not need to post again; if they want to change, they simply need to sign under another nominee and their vote will be moved.

In the event of ties, we will hold tiebreakers beginning on the 20th of the month.

On the last day of the month, votes will be tallied, and the winner will become the next Featured Media!

  • Room Core: ... really, guys? I am shocked, no, disgusted that only one of you had the sense to vote for what was obviously the superior image. The blending of colors must have taken extreme precision, and the shapes were probably coordinated by the finest mathematicians in the world, to be fitting for the Room Core. And you denied it for a tiny little blurry world art? Don't fret, though; since The Almighty Greatness did not furiously turn your heads into radishes or slowly start collapsing your bone structure from the inside-out because you didn't vote for It, and now that you have seen the errors of your ways, I am giving you a second choice to make the right decision, and vote for Room Core, the obvious magnum opus of any artist. --DTN Room Core.png 04:24, September 3, 2010 (UTC)

Its teardrops represents the love and caring we show for each other, and the central core represents the strength within ourselves.   8. Imagine those those needle-like grey things... Imagine they truly are needles.... Approaching your eyes... Piercing them... First your left eye, then your right. When you blink, you can't fully close your eyes, because of those things slowly going farther into you... They then reach the brain... Your personality fades away when the temporal lobe is destroyed... You stop hearing, then seeing (although you're already blind). You still live, though, in a kind of haze, because you can't feel the world around you and you can't even act. The red spot with the yellow specks is your cancerous blood, spreading tumours throughout your body, ensuring that not only your whole consiousness and will is gone, but that your family won't even recognize your body anymore. Cancerous cells protuding everywhere on you will bloat your body. Indeed, you *will* still be alive, for your caring parents (morons though they are) will have brought you to the hospital.   • Jack's Scarecrow Being as it is Halloween in October, and we can't use characters, I felt that this would be quite suitable. Halloween Town seemed too obvious, so I ended up with this. Chitalian8

  • Room Core - There is so much to appreciate in such a complex image as this one. The multitude of colors and shapes in the image shows true craftsmanship in creating such a detailed and crafty piece of art, far more complex that such images as these two. The circles are flawlessly created, and the shapes are geometric perfection. Such complexity must have taken days, no, weeks to perfect and create! No other piece of Kingdom Hearts-related media could possibly even come close to having the tiniest chance of even just comparing with the beauty of the one and only, Room Core! --DTN Room Core.png 02:44, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • Land of Departure Art As The Inixestent said, BBS mania will be in full force by the time the next featured media is set in place. Both of these opposing images are formidable, but the wiki's going through changes right now, and what better place to start those changes than the Land of Departure? Ineligible Categories: Weapons, Worlds

  • Tranquil Shard, Tranquil Stone, Tranquil Gem, and Tranquil Crystal - Since these images are particularly small, I am nominating the complete set of them. Never have we featured any item images, so this would be a great "first" to show our diverse collection of great images. Also, we can show some of our less "worldly" readers and viewers some Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix-exclusive material. Our synthesis articles are also looking great with the format and work that has been put on them, so this is a great way to feature them as well.   • Saix Beserk- I'm not sure of the rules regarding nominations, but I nominate this as the featured media because it shows just how crazy the members of the organization really were....Is that enough for a nom?
  • Lindworm - This is the only weapon of Organization XIII that I am drawn to, even Saïx's banana.   • Storm Rider Alright, here is my opinion: we have not featured an image of enemy in several months, and not a boss in nearly a year. However, the main reason I am nominating this is because that June 19th, 2010 will be the 12th anniversary of the Mulan Disney film.   3. Concidering that we haven't had a weapon for featured media in over a year, I think we should have this. Also, we will probably have heaps of BBS media for a while after it is released and it may get boring. Danjam 07:53, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
  4. Considering I won last month's featured media, I'm gonna stay out of the race this time. A weapon has been long called for as featured media, and if I get all of my exemptions in school, May is, as DTN put it: "School's.. OUT! FOR! SUMMER!" for me. Anyway, it's got my vote.
