Featured Media is a place to show the artwork, images, and sounds that make this wiki an interesting and engaging experience for visitors. It will also encourage wiki members to improve the quality of existing works. The rules and guidelines are a work-in-progress; if you have suggestions, please leave them on the Talk Page.

Nomination Guidelines

So, what makes a bit of media eligible for nomination? Here are the guidelines:

• The media should represent and support the article or articles it appears in. A full-body shot focusing on one character is better than a blurry screen capture where the character is in the image, but not the focus, for example. Orphan media not linked to an article or non-Kingdom Hearts materials that appears on User pages is not eligible.
• The media should be appropriately high-quality. Images should be of good resolution with minimal or no artifacting, but not absurdly large. Sound clips should be clear and easy to hear, but not excessively long.
  • The image must not bear or contain any watermarks, website labels, etc.
• The media, like all things on the wiki, should be from official or officially-verified sources. No fan art, no matter how awesome.
• The media nominated must be hosted in this wiki. Items hosted elsewhere, such as YouTube clips, are ineligible.
• The media must meet guidelines for fair-use. A thirty-second sample of "Simple and Clean" is fine; the entire song uploaded to the wiki is not.

Nomination Process

You have something that meets the above rules, so now what? Well, on the first day of the month, post a link to your nominated media and sign your nomination with ~~~~! Remember, though, only one nomination per user per month! Pretty easy, right?

There is one more rule to keep this from becoming one big popularity contest. After the winning media is announced, any media in that category becomes ineligible for nominations for the next two months. For example, the image of an Angel Star was the selected media for October, 2008. That means that for the next two voting cycles in November and December, images from the Heartless Category were ineligible for nomination and would be dismissed if suggested. Likewise, the picture of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness would have also been ineligible, even though he appears in the Character category as well. Images with more than one category will only have one of them "blocked" to make sure there is a fair selection of categories available. There will always be two categories which images cannot be nominated from; they are listed at the top of the nomination block.

The category or categories are also considered "locked-in" from the beginning of the month, so don't bother changing them to get around the rules. Trying to edit media categories to suit your whims will only attract the wrath of staff and admins, and certainly get your nomination privileges revoked.

Voting

Editors have one vote; they must put their vote and signature, (~~~~) underneath the nominee of their choice. Those who nominated media can have their nomination counted as their vote and do not need to post again; if they want to change, they simply need to sign under another nominee and their vote will be moved.

In the event of ties, we will hold tiebreakers beginning on the 20th of the month.

On the last day of the month, votes will be tallied, and the winner will become the next Featured Media!

Note: It should go without saying, but it is extremely unethical to be canvassing for votes for this forum. If evidence is found that you've been trying to taint the process, the staff will de-nominate the targeted media, and may bar you from voting for the next round.

Nominations

July 2011

Important Notice: This is the first month we will be testing the new system of voting for Featured Media, which involves multiple nominations and votes to select three images that will be displayed during the month for about ten days each. Our database of images and other media is growing vastly, and it was decided during May's Roundtable meeting that we should switch to a tri-image system each month in order to properly feature it. Each user can now nominate up to three pieces of media and also can vote for up to three candidates. "Ineligible Categories" has been disbanded; instead, no two images may come from the same category. At the end of the month, the three images with the top votes will be selected, unless if one of the winning images conflicts with another image's category, in which case it will not be selected, though could be rolled over to the next month's voting. Again, this is a trial month, so some rockiness is to be expected.

• Fairy Stars - Well, since this keyblade has stars, with blue, red (*coughgreenkindaruinedthemoodcough*),and a bit of white why not use this keyblade for July? Especially for the 4th of July. (Yay, for the Unites Stares of America! :D) ~TheTalkingKeyblade

• Stitch - The original film was released in June 2002, so nominating this image for the coming month seems rather fitting. When you think about it, Stitch has a role of his own in the series. He's met Sora, Terra, Aqua, and Ven, helping them defeat an enemy or two, he's made his own Wayfinder, and helped defend Hollow Bastion in the Battle of the 1000 Heartless. • Shadow - We seem to take this guy for granted. I mean look at it. The Shadow is the root—the very basic of Heartless. All other Heartless stem from this one little thing. Think about it: Xehanort (apprentice) first found out about Heartless when he discovered the Shadow Heartless. If it weren't for these little critters, Xehanort wouldn't have found the door, wouldn't become a Heartless, and the rest of the Kingdom Hearts series wouldn't have happened. • Hollow Bastion & Cavern of Remembrance - Sorry, Dan, but this piece of Hollow Bastion artwork trumps them all. The detail, the shading, the colors and lighting... everything comes together to make this one of my favorite pieces of artwork in the whole series. • Disney Castle Exterior - Location images are good, I agree. It's part of the reason why I nominated the Rising Falls image, but if that's been disqualified because of the watermark, I'm nominating this. Another favourite location image of mine, I've nominated it twice before, so I think it's about time we feature this awesome picture of the castle's towers climbing up toward a blue sky. • Sora and Kairi At Sunset - This is one of the most iconic images in all of Kingdom Hearts, and it's also a personal favorite. The sunset, Sora and Kairi... it all harkens back to the beginning, and it's all so... perfect. What's not to love? It's basically how the entire world was first introduced to Kingdom Hearts, and represents a sense of nostalgia. Ineligible Categories: Music Media, Characters

• Coded Characters - First of all, it is not a character image, that applies to renders; this is artwork. Anyway, this is perfect! Kingdom Hearts Re:coded comes out this month in North America, a game that has received very little coverage, which we can fix by featuring this amazing image. Also, I love some of the character expressions on this that we do not usually see in our "happy" artwork, such as Mickey's perplexity, Goofy's fear, and Donald's rage. • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix: It certainly is surprising just how many visitors to our wiki and Kingdom Hearts fans are not aware of the existence of this reissue of the PSP hit we all know and love(d). Featuring fantastic new artwork of the three protagonists that even, to me, foreshadows their ultimate fates, this beautiful boxart shows the reality of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix and just how great it is going to be, aside from the troubling aspect that we North Americans cannot get our hands on it!
