In favor of merging staff[edit]

All existing staff of both wikis will receive their existing staff powers on both wikis. These staff may or may not be marked as inactive without any removal of their powers.

In favor of merging staff and pruning inactive[edit]

All existing staff of both wikis will receive their existing staff powers on both wikis, but staff who have not made ten edits in the last month will have their powers removed. If a shortage of staff results, elections will be run to fill the empty seats.

In favor of picking staff anew[edit]

All existing staff will have a deadline to their powers, and a new set of staff will be picked from the merged community. Options for switchover are to either remove current staff's powers now (with at least one bcrat remaining to promote the new staff, before abdicating), or may keep them until the election is finished.

So, DE and I discussed it on the IRC, and we realized that no one's really figured out who'll be "staffing" the merge process. Below is our list of ideas. Whether any of these remain permanent or not should be discussed later.

20px-Pin_000.png Kryten explicitly expressed that he wished not to become a 'crat. Although, if we want 2 'crats from each former site, I can't really think of anyone else who would fit the bill.

Isa_bbs.png When you say "staffing the merge", does this mean staff members in charge of making sure the merge goes smoothly, or are these the permanent staff after the merge is finished?

Not sure where I fall on this. It is for the following that I personally won't add my name to the list. Although inactive, I do stop by occasionally and do some editing. However, I am most definitely not as active both IRC, and editing/Wiki wise as a staff member should be. I know I probably won't be able to participate with the merging as much either. So, you guys decide. I'm all for staying as an admin, moderator, etc. if you guys see it fit. If not, I understand. Regardless, I respect the decision. Thanks.--Xion4ever 00:11, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

I can't believe I miss bald jokes

I very much agree with the majority of this list, especially the positions of T_I and As If and promotion of Erry. That being said, do we know that all the people on the staff list are planning on being over here and not just sticking at the fansite?

Oh, and yeah, Kryten doesn't wanna be a 'crat (as already stated), but I think he definitely fits the job well.

As for Xion, that's the tough battle we have, and that really includes Lego and ENX as well. They still contribute and help us out a lot, but aren't always entirely as active as they want to be, or for that matter, as several others on this list. By keeping them on staff, it becomes almost too big... so that's a difficult decision we need to make..

No Name Keychain KHBBS.png My opinion on this still has not changed:
  • I see no reason to have so many b-crats. They're just extra administrators with the ability to promote new mods/admins as necessary. I still like my idea of taking one from each Wiki better than having five or six.

For those so adamant to put me on the "Inactive" list, I'll only say this once: I check this Wiki every day, and I will revert or change something if it needs to be done. Otherwise, there's nothing for me to be a part of here;I've been reduced to gnome-status. This Wiki has gotten so chaotic over the past month that I'm simply lost/confused, NOT inactive. I said the new KH3D information would lead to my resumed activity, and I still stand by that, just as soon as all this "merging" nonsense subsides.

Just trying to bring some life to this forum. We need more input on what to do about staff members.--Dark-EnigmaXIII 09:56, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

KrytenKoro - "Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life."
Okay, ideas:
  1. Any staff member who has not made let's say ten edits in the last month should be moved to inactive. REMINDER: INACTIVE DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOUR POWERS HAVE BEEN REVOKED, unless you ask for them to be, or unless the community asks for them to be.
  2. We should put it up to a vote to end this Saturday as to whether we merge the staff or run new elections.
    1. Merging staff:
      1. Same rules as above, we should not grant staff powers to anyone who's been doing nothing for over a month (honestly, we should discuss whether that should be some sort of general rule: if you are going to be unavailable, you need to make way for someone else and earn your spot back when you return.)
    2. New elections:
      1. Given the situation with KH3D, and the general need for revamps and people to lead projects, I would say we need at least fourteen admin or above editors. I would say we don't need more than three bcrats, given that the only need for more than one is to prevent abuse or downtime, but I'm not averse to five or more.

But I've not been keeping up with the discussions on the IRC and forums, so if you guys had already decided on a merge than just give me the names and we can be done with this tonight.

Pretty sure the general consensus was to merge staff. The only ones who didn't want to were me and Chitalian, and from a personal standpoint I'm fine with merging now so long as we adhere to those rules on inactivity. I'm also very content with the staff list in this forum.

I personally dont have a preference, and I believe that there should be an equal number of bcrats from both sites, that's why I initially suggested four, though Im no stranger with 5 or whatever number we pick to use.

As for the inactive situation, I totally agree that we should have some kind of policy to define a staffer as inactive and make way for new staff, always allowing the old people to come back, if they so desire it.

Item_2383.png AS IF! Item_2383.png The world is garbage! CRUNCH!
I agree with the inactive staff rule. As for merge/re-elect, I have an idea: first we merge the staff, then mark inactive staffers as inactive and elect new people in their place. I feel like that would be a fair compromise. If not, I am fine with merging the staff- even if it is a little sad that many staff-worthy editors would be left out in that case.

TALK - Friendships are in direct contravention of mercenary conduct as delineated in your contracts, and on a personal note: I am very, very, disappointed with you.
Vsymbol.png Oh, this is happening.

Um, my stance. I think the list we have going looks great, there isn't anyone on there that I think doesn't deserve the position.

As for me. Oh boy. I would love to keep my powers, but let's face it: I'm really not as active as I used to be. Sure, like ENX, I'm here practically every day, keeping an eye on the Recent Changes and making sure to stay up to date on the happenings, but I simply don't have time or the motivation to make long term consecutive edits any more. Maybe that'll change by the time 3D comes around, but seeing as I lack a 3DS (and money), I don't think I'll be of much immediate help when all that new info starts coming in.

The point is. There's no point in me being an admin if I'm only going to sit on the inactive list saying, "I'll get to it eventually," like I did on the Keyhole.

So... I'm cool with relinquishing my administration rights, I guess. There's no reason why someone else shouldn't have them.

KrytenKoro - "It's always best when the other chap is willing to die for his beliefs; you both have the same goal in mind."
The general consensus among the people at the IRC was to merge staff, yeah, but I would definitely feel more comfortable if we ran a poll. Can someone set one up at the top of the page?
But isn't a poll, like... very easy to contaminate? Unless you mean a sined poll, like every other classic wiki votation. I'll apply the latter. Also, I really like As if idea, since that would mean that no one will actually lose their powers, just moved to the inactive section with them already applied as someone else picks their place. The best of both worlds, to be honest. Regardless of the choice, I do believe new staff should also be appointed--Dark-EnigmaXIII 17:00, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
maggosh The steel is forged... "Souls as far as the eye can see..."

"If you want light to rule over all, then you must rid the world of everything else."

Can someone please explain to me what exactly the third option entails? I just don't want to misunderstand it.
Okay, I think we're getting confused here. The question is whether to grant staff powers to all the keyhole staff, grant staff powers to all the keyhole staff but remove staff powers from any inactive staff from either site, or discard all current staff powers and rerun elections from scratch. The active/inactive list thing is really only an aesthetic choice for the staff article, not anything that would require a poll or community decision. Functionally, merging the staff but moving inactive staff to the inactive list is the same as just merging all staff, so I've moved your votes to that section and made some tweaks to the verbiage of the options."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro)
So, apparently, we'll merge the staff and purge the inactive. Where would this voting end? Saturday? If so, we should get this done with this weekend and see if we need elections or not.--Dark-EnigmaXIII 19:19, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Right now, it's tied between "disop inactive" and "just mark inactive". If it's still a tie tomorrow, I think we have to go with "just mark inactive", since it's the lesser change.
However, I think it's plain to see that the consensus is clearly for "merge all staff", whether we decide to prune some tomorrow or not. Is anyone opposed to me and Neumannz going ahead and doing the promotions now? 21:57, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Dark-EnigmaXIII to bureaucrat
  • Soxra to bureaucrat
  • LegendAqua to moderator
  • UnknownChaser to moderator
  • Chitalian8 to moderator

These are based on the current roles of the users, DE's and Sox's bureucratship was planned all along. Maggosh has not made 10 edits in the last 30 days, so he's not eligible for the bureucrat role.

If we are indeed going with the ten edit thing, then Crono would fall under the de'op. KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON. 20:37, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

May I make all the new staffers icons? I experimented and know how to make the font look identical to the one used in the current ones. So if everyone gives the okay, I can make new icons for all the new staff members. Of course, you'd have to send me a request first. --Item_2384.png AS IF! Item_2384.png 01:39, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
