The Photon Debugger is a Keyblade acquired after Sora's first trip to Space Paranoids in Kingdom Hearts II. This keyblade also appears as a card in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories in a reward room on the 12th floor after completing Reverse/Rebirth (or, Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ in the Japanese version).

Acquisition

The keyblade is given to Sora by Tron after the two of them defeat the Hostile Program before it could destroy Hollow Bastion.

In Kingdom Hearts: Re:Chain of Memories, the Photon Debugger can be acquired in the 12th floor (Destiny Islands) using a Key to Rewards card - that too, after completing Reverse/Rebirth mode (or Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ in the Japanese version of Re:Chain of Memories). The passive ability of Thunder Boost is carried on in Re:Chain of Memories, thus if Sora were to use the Photon Debugger card against any Heartless with a Thunder attribute, it would cause the Heartless to recover instead of lose HP.

Appearance

The Photon Debugger looks similar to the inhabitants of Space Paranoids, appearing to be constructed of computer circuitry. The key chain is a miniature version of the Identity Disk used by Tron in both Kingdom Hearts II and the film, Tron.

Etymology

Its name comes from two words; debugging is a way to get rid of a computer virus: it is possible that the virus are the Heartless and are destroyed by the Keyblade. Photons are forms of light, and Sora is the wielder of the Keyblade of Light.
