Hi folks, just a quick question... Is there a maximum word count for the Keyblade Master articles? When I write, I often have a tendency to write...a lot, so I want to be sure what length I'm aiming for before I really get stuck in. {{User:Aixon/Sig1}} 12:49, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Heard about the new magazine hosted on the KHWiki and the Keyhole and want to get involved? Here at the Journalist Spot, you can share ideas and help us work towards the release of our next issue.

How It Works

To begin with, you must be a registered user on both Wikis with a minimum of either 300 total edits at the KHWiki (check here) or 100 total edits at the Keyhole (check here).

Once you have that, you can sign-up to do any of the below but remember that it is your responsibility to complete anything you have signed up to at least a week before release. Fortunately, there's plenty of help along the way! Once you've signed up to something, you can share ideas about your topic below in the "Discussion" section. Then, other users will feedback and develop your ideas by giving their own thoughts and opinions so that you have enough inspiration to write your entire piece. If you are doing an interview, debate battle or podcast, work with your partner(s) at an off-Wiki location, such as the IRC or by email.

After you have a first draft, email it to "kingdomheartswikibcrat@gmail.com" so that the Editor in Chief can review your work, fix any mistakes and give you any advice that you might need. Please refrain from posting any drafts on the Wiki to prevent ruining the surprise and satisfaction at the end result. Remember to update your status in the sign-up section and again, ensure that you email your work at least a week before release so that there is time to fix any potential issues.

The host for the Journalist Spot alternates every issue so you may need to visit The Keyhole if you want to get involved!

Submission Etiquettes

For the aid of the publisher, we now request everyone to observe the following etiquettes when you are submitting a piece of work:

Coding

Insert all the relevant coding in your email, including all images, font colors, formatting and links. Also insert the relevant parameters of your piece. For example, this is an example of a perfect riddle submission:

|gridriddle1=Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
|gridriddle1answer=consectetur adipiscing elit
|gridriddle1author=Cicero

Two templates have been made to handle links: Template:KHWiki and Template:Keyhole. These works by using the following parameters (this uses the KHWiki template as an example but the Keyhole is the same):

{{KHWiki|LINK DESTINATION|DISPLAYED LINK (optional)|HEX CODE FOR FONT COLOR (optional)}}

Example:

{{KHWiki|Donald Duck|Donald|#00000}}

Never use basic [[ ]] links unless you know that both Wikis have the page that you're linking to!

Content

Allude to both Wikis as much as possible with links and mentions, unless your section is specific to one Wiki.

Due Date

It is vital that you submit your work before at least a week before the next issue is set to be released so that a) the publisher has time to add it into the rest of the magazine and b) there is time to fix any issues that there may be.

Sign-Up

Found something you want to do? Sign-up under the bullet point you wish to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the Editor in Chief or the Deputy in Chief! Remember to submit your final work to the wiki's email for review!

Cover

  • A magazine cover drawn by hand or computer. Also submitted should be a thumbnail of the cover, for use in the magazine directories.
    • Depends on what anyone wants the cover to look like. I have got an idea or two, but I presume there'll be some headlines &c to go on the front page. If the opportunity arises, I'll gladly draw, BUT all articles for the particular issue have to be done first. Troisnyx 08:21, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

  2. If said battle includes characters and their temperaments.... It'll all depend on how it turns out. Troisnyx 08:20, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Discussion

Would it be possible to get like, a big team of contributors -- not necessarily regulars, but those who can at least commit to one particular issue? If we have enough of these types of contributions each month, we may perhaps be able to revive the Magazine. Thoughts? Troisnyx 07:15, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

That's the point of the sign up sheet and what makes the magazine fun. People sign up to a few tasks each (often changing tasks each issue) and then we see the collaboration in the end result. Contributors don't have to be regulars but they do need to meet the basic requirement. Also, the magazine never died; in fact, I think it's still going on strong!
The essential thing is people post their stuff early. Last time, we had a day left to release and half the magazine empty. Therefore, I stress to everyone that you must email your work at least a week early. Ideally, as early as you can make it, whether that be two weeks or two months before, but we can't expect that from everyone which is why we compromise on at least a week in advance. TheFifteenthMember 14:56, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
Why don't we lower the number of edits required to contribute? It may increase the amount of people working on the magazine. TheSilentHero 16:47, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
That might be a good idea. Byzantinefire - There are no strings on me 20px-AOU_Audi_Promo_07.png (talk) 17:32, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
Maybe we can encourage collaborations? There could be people out there with good ideas but think their work won't be in the same quality of the magazine and thus don't submit anything. It could even work between each other, like the word search two issues ago. FM and I worked on it together because he had the idea and I could manage the graphics part. I'm opposed to lowering the number of edits. Let's remember that the original purpose of the magazine (and MegaProject: Arise at that) was to increase traffic and activity for the wiki. The idea of the Chain of Rewards was new editors work hard and contribute to the wiki, and in return they gain the privilege of working on the magazine. We don't want to see contributors to the magazine that have no experience of the wiki and are not yet integrated into the community. We want them to first learn their way around the place and pick up some basic skills and then contribute. That was the point of ranking the magazine high on the Chain; it's a lot more demanding than voting for featured content. Besides, we have enough people working on the magazine, we just need them to submit their stuff earlier. Also, yes, collaboration is great (and more fun) ^_^ TheFifteenthMember 18:44, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
