Square Enix Melody
Square Enix Melody (スクエニメロディ Sukueni Merodi), later rebranded to Square Enix Melody -Plus- (スクエニメロディ-Plus- Sukueni Merodi Puryusu) and finally Square Enix Melody Full (スクエニメロディ フル Sukueni Merodi Furu), is a mobile distribution service for ringtones from various Square Enix franchises, including Kingdom Hearts. From 2009 to 2014, a number of Kingdom Hearts songs were available to download on the platform.
Square Enix Melody offered two formats of ringtones: Chaku-uta (着うた Chaku Uta, lit. "Ringtone"), which are shorter in length, and Chaku-uta Full (着うたフル Chaku Uta Furu, lit. "Full-length Ringtone"), which are full-length songs. Some songs were offered in both formats.
Development[edit]
The Square Enix Melody platform, previously just an information center about music from Square Enix franchises, began distributing ringtones on November 7, 2005. Chaku-uta were available to download on i-mode devices (FOMA 700i and 900i series and later), EZweb (WIN series and later), and Yahoo! Ketai (SoftBank 3G series and later). Sometime between May and July 2009, Square Enix Melody rebranded to Square Enix Melody -Plus-.
Square Enix Melody Full launched on July 8, 2010, a sibling service dedicated to Chaku-uta Full. Previously, a limited number of Chaku-uta Full had been released on Square Enix Melody -Plus-, but those downloads were limited to DoCoMo devices. All Chaku-uta Full released after July 2010 were exclusively available on Square Enix Melody Full.
Square Enix Melody -Plus- was integrated into Square Enix Melody Full on September 1, 2011.
In early 2012, a number of Chaku-uta Full from Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance were briefly available for download until being temporarily suspended on April 19, 2012. On May 28, 2012, it was announced that the re-release of these ringtones would be postponed due to site specifications; no ringtones from Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance were ever returned to the platform.
In late 2012 or early 2013, Square Enix Melody Full expanded support to Android devices. On February 28, 2014, the distribution of some songs from the Kingdom Hearts series was suspended. On December 31, 2014, every remaining Kingdom Hearts song was also removed from the platform. Downloaded ringtones could sill be accessed, but no new Chaku-uta or Chaku-uta Full could be downloaded. Square Enix Melody Full was terminated on May 31, 2018.

The Square Enix Melody website featured a ranking of the ten most popular songs downloaded through the service. The rankings were updated once or twice every month.
