KH1 Synthesis if it was illustrated and translated consistently
KH3 first patch request list
- Make the two star scenes in the final world mandatory (one is critical to the following scenes), allow you go to back to talk to them again, and add them to theater mode.
- Revise synthesis menu in moogle shop to check off recipes that have been made before
- Revise buy/sell menu at shops to show how many are in character possession (as in KH1)
- Add "organization by world" for journal, as in KH2. Include required minigame scores and side missions
- Add character links, but keep it separate from the "organization by world".
- Mark all unobtained journal entries with ??? after beating the game
- Revise ally photomission to notify you each time you advance in it, and to track which ones have been photographed at Moogle Shop
- show progress toward workshop goals (adding materials to shop)
- Put Lea and Roxas in their damn clothes from the beginning. The coats are stupid and are bad for morale.
- Fix the glitch in the Ice Labyrinth where it teleports you across the railway room and blocks off the doors.
- Make gummi blocks drop in much larger batches from blue crystals -- x5 or x10. Reduce max on gummi shop blocks either to (1), or make them deeply discounted after first purchase.
- Add "Phantom Recovery" to list of minigames, make it explicit that you should get all 333 of them.
- Bigger requests
Make all Keyblades whose models exist in the game usable. These do not need to have formchanges, and can be obtainable simply as a DLC pack if necessary. Character signature limits would be nice, but are optional. This includes:
- Lea's Keyblade
- Destiny's Embrace
- Way to the Dawn and Braveheart
- Kingdom Key D and new Key
- Void Gear
- No Name
- No Name (Young Ver.)
- Master's Defender
- Ends of the Earth
- Wayward Wind
- Combined Keyblade
- Star Seeker (via Midnight Blue and Phantom Green)
- Oathkeeper
- Oblivion
- Boss challenge mode or coliseum
- Add all three preorder keyblades as paid DLC available to all players, even the xbox keyblade on PS or PS keyblade on xbox
- Episode Riku and Episode Kairi as playable-at-any-time scenarios which allow you to use those characters gameplay (not just for boss battles), and have item/ability rewards for main game
- Bring Rapunzel back. Maybe her hair is a hologram, like the heartbinders.
- Massive story rewrite interlacing the guardian retrieval throughout the world completion, have the power of waking plotline tied off at olympus instead of dragging it out for no resolution, make disney worlds have more import to the final plot, rather than "hey these are the organization's backup plans".
Complete overhaul of plot concept
- Completely eliminate this "Gummiphone doesn't say who's calling, Sora keeps thinking it's the wrong person" nonsense
- Add ability to call your allies for their current thoughts (like MGS codecs)
- World costumes for each world
- No "New Seven Hearts"
- Heartbinders will be for all past allies and all guardians. Not sure how to handle Ralph, but it's not like the game did him justice anyway
- All Guardians can share Keyblades (or maybe just Keyblades for their associated worlds)
- Battlegates (or maybe weaker battledoors, whatever) available during gameplay, give the Secret Reports (or maybe the order drop Memo reports, giving hints to what XIII Order is trying to accomplish -- maybe these are what help the heroes track them to the next world)
- Transform post-game battlegates into Replica Data-difficulty battles with each world's Order member. Maybe world bosses as well. Maybe the order members are in their coats or Ultima Weapon outfits for these.
- The Guardians each have Keyblade Armor, at least in limit breaks, for crap's sake. Like come on, seriously.
- Trinity Limit exists
- Lea and Isa have family at RG that you can talk to, SRK have family at DI you can talk to
- Lea wears the damn clothes and does not think he's Axel, Roxas and Xion put on the magic clothes once rescued. Xion and Lea's clothes are not mimicking their organization coats because their whole identity is around hating what the organization forced them to do. Roxas uses Two Become One.
- 100 Acre Wood has real mini-games, and Eeyore
- Sora goes to Olympus, retrieves power of waking
- Pandora's Box is not ignored -- secretly retrieved by Xigbar after Maleficent decides it's not the right box
- Mickey and Riku explore Dark World (playable) (subplot with Demyx and Vexen starts now (clarify that benching happened back in 3D, and give them something the organization expects them to accomplish, which they derelict), Ansem the Wise kidnaps Ansem, and sends Saix to Twilight Town)
- Sora and gang visit Twilight Town to get leads on Roxas, Vexen helps Ansem escape from Saix with help from Defenders, Sora fends off Saix from killing his friends (boss fight), but Vexen is killed in crossfire after secretly handing off Replicas and Ansem to Demyx -- explains why Demyx is even necessary, and Sora is actually aware of all this -- make sure to foreshadow that the Replica delivered for Roxas was one of two the Order had had him produce, and they still want a replacement)
- Simulated Twilight Town is accessible, maybe has minigames focusing on recompiling Roxas's memories (and later, detangling Ventus's memories from "third heart")
- Meet with Demyx, Ienzo, Dilan, Aeleus, Ansem at Radiant Garden to get the Roxas replica started with Roxas's memories, discover the other memories in Sora's heart, start trying to download their memories too (playable: maybe fight alongside Demyx, and Demyx dies protecting them?; also, throughout game, memories of Xion and Roxas start stirring); find Chamber of Repose and Aqua's armor, keychain -- use Heartbinder to store them
- Return to Mysterious Tower (playable), learn that Mickey and Riku have not come back, get request to track them down (Mysterious Tower: hub world where you can train with any rescued Guardians, initially just Lea and Kairi, 100 Acre Wood is linked from here), three fairies help you practice with formchanges, Merlin and Fairy Godmother help you practice with Grand Magic and Heartbinders (get Kairi and Lea Heartbinders)
- Track Mickey and Riku to Destiny Islands (playable -- minigames, plus can talk to Tidus, Wakka, Selphie, AND SORA'S FAMILY WHY DOES HE HATE THEM SO MUCH)
- Don't find Mickey or Riku -- Ventus and Aqua Heartbinder stir, revealing key, Sora picks up key, follows it to Realm of Darkness, fights purely defensive battle against Aqua (similar to Beast battle in KH2 -- focuses on connecting with her), Aqua rescued (Aqua Heartbinder now active -- can summon aqua when not already in party), (get Riku and Mickey Heartbinders)
- Aqua is disoriented and out of practice: follow pulling in her heart toward Monstropolis, encounter Vanitas Remnant, fight Vanitas Remnant, Aqua's memories of where she hid Ventus return to clarity, but Vanitas remnant has nearly turned back to vanitas, ready for CO
- Go to Castle Oblivion (playable). Fight off Defenders, Vikings, Illusionists, Assassins, Reapers, and Ninjas as you make for the Chamber of Waking (so that it actually matters), restore Castle to Land of Departure, vanitas AND XEMNAS return (fight Vanitas and Xemnas), Ventus rescued (get Ventus Heartbinder) -- however, Vanitas is returned to full strength by clashing with Ventus, future battles are much harder, and maybe Terra has quieted down within Xemnas? Also XEMNAS HAS KEYBLADE.
- Check in with RG gang -- with Ventus rescued, they can disentangle his memories from the "third heart" in Sora.
- Ventus is disoriented: follow pulling in his heart toward Corona, encounter Marluxia, fight Marluxia, foreshadowing about Marluxia recognizing Ventus (and mentioning Roxas too), and his and Larxene's jobs -- talk to Ienzo, Dilan, Aeleus, and Ansem about that for background on Marluxia, and they try to track down Larxene, they advise tracking her down with the former assassin, Lea
- Track Larxene with Lea to Arendelle
- Okay: So, we finally explain why each member of original org had elemental powers. Maybe it has something to do with jumpstarting the bonding of xehanort's heart to them, or their souls were damaged with the manner in which Xehanort split them. Elemental powers of each type were used to "(in)complete them", but those are exhausted or not good enough for Order's "new needs" (don't reveal its replicas yet), so they're researching born-with powers like Rapunzel's healing or Elsa's cryomancy. Fight Larxene, Larxene lets slip that Luxord is back and also on a job (remove the "we already have all 13" nonsense)
- Arendelle castle and lake actually appear unfrozen upon return to world, are visitable, *Anna and Elsa hang out there instead of negating the entire plot*.
- Track Luxord back to Caribbean with Kairi
- Bonus: Pirate Kairi, also pirate Maleficent and Pete
- Fight Luxord (ship battle then boarding), Luxord fails to retrieve the Dead Man's Chest, but retrieves data on how it works and the fate bindings on it that allow a vessel to survive "with" a heart but without the heart at hand (spoooooooky)
- Ienzo, Dilan, Aeleus, Ansem, and Demyx (if we decided not to have him die as part of the earlier plot) let Sora and gang know that Roxas's memories are fully implanted in the Replica, and they've finished compiling the "third heart's" memories -- however, Xemnas hacks in and steals their data. Oh no! What is he planning?!
- "Are we ready for the final fight?" -- No. You still don't know who all the Order members are, and you need to be prepared in order to have a hope of surviving. Riku mentions the voice he heard in the Realm of Darkness, and that he feels it is trying to warn him of something, he "lets his heart be his guiding key" to San Fransokyo
- "Keyblade Hero 4" (or 13, however Sora wants to present it) in San Fransokyo, investigate Dark Riku, fight Dark Riku, deal with the whole mystery of which Riku is this at this point, clarify that it is Riku Replica from when he was still brainwashed. Riku Replica escapes with his data on rebuilding and animating a sundered vessel using darkness, Dark Riku lets leak (or dropped memo) lets them know about plan to animate Replica to replace the one being used to rebuild Roxas
- Heroes track this info to Toy Box, with Mickey tagging along, run into young Xehanort and his research into using darkness to detach bonds and replace a construct's strong heart, even quashing its will against its own memories, fight Young Xehanort, rescue toy friends but Young Xehanort has the data he needs
- Let's review:
- Marluxia and Larxene got data on how to empower a vessel without relying on elements (specifically self-healing and crystal powers)
- Luxord got data on how to have a vessel have a heart without "having" it
- Xemnas stole the "third heart" data to replace Sora as 13th vessel
- Dark Riku and Young Xehanort got data on how to rebuild and animate a sundered vessel using darkness, then quash its strong heart and detach its bonds from others
- What does this spell? Brainwashed Final Boss Xion! (But we don't know that yet -- just remember it for later, maybe an ominous shadowy cutscene right about now)
- Everyone is recuperated, Ventus, Aqua, Mickey, Lea, Ienzo, Dilan, Aeleus think they have a lead on Terra: Radiant Garden, where Aqua saw him last and where the RG guys think he should have reappeared. Theory that his entanglement with Xehanort is what caused him to not reappear right away
- Let's review:
- Let's go to Radiant Garden! At least Ventus, Aqua, Mickey on team, maybe errybody (Riku has that link to him after all). They find an older(!) Terra reforming, comatose (like Xehanort in KH3D), but just as they reach him and go to rescue him, Ansem and Xemnas show up! Oh no! (or maybe Master Xehanort? eh.) Since Terra still "Belonged" to them, they knew exactly when and where he would reappear, and were already ready to retrieve him. They turn him back into Texmex (let's throw a blink-and-you'll-miss-it, but heartfelt, scene with a hope-crushed guardian, here), and they all disappear through a corridor of darkness...
- ...to Keyblade Graveyard! (not sure how to still have The Eclipse, but we have to have some purpose for the dark-resistance clothes) Well, we knew we would end up here eventually. Aqua, Ventus, and Mickey are holding their own against Texmex when Xion shows up! She quickly turns the tide and kills them all before they can react with anything but vague deja vu.
- The Final World happens as normal, Namine and Nameless Star scenes are not missable, Chirithy or the stars explicitly inform Sora that the only reason that going to the final world didn't shatter his connection to the realm of light was "a powerful light using the last of their power to hold him back" (i.e., Kairi has exhausted her princess powers, is now just normal Keyblader) -- Lich battle is less about chasing after boring boss, and closer to Twilight Princess Zant boss battle, with different arenas and tactics in each arena
- Lingering Will shows up, holds off texmex long enough for Sora/Ventus to react when Xion shows up, they reach out to her and boy howdy Sora's powerful heart manages to break through the immense control the Xehanorts have put on her -- Xion/Roxas scene happens -- but a key still forms
- With tide turned, you turn back to texmex -- fighting alongside lingering will at first, and then the guardian, you beat texmex and then finally manage to use power of waking to eject Xehanort's heart from him -- but a key still forms (get Terra, Roxas, Xion Heartbinders)
- Skein of Severance time -- but this time you get to choose who to send against remaining Seekers (Sora exhausted from final world bit, Kairi stays behind to help him recover). You can make four teams of two, to send against Repliku + Vanitas, Xigbar + Saix, Young + Luxord, Marluxia + Larxene. They're all close enough that everyone can see everyone, so closure scenes still happen pretty much as normal. (maybe we can have Vanitas get over his emo phase and actually choose to reunite, like he's spent the entire rest of the time saying he wants to do? But Sora/Ventus's strength of heart make it so they are not overwhelmed by him? Honestly, if I could also have Roxas, Xion, and Namine just...recomplete, I'd be pretty happy. Persona handled this topic better)
- Kairi, Donald, and Goofy go with Sora for final assault once he's recovered -- first Ansem and Xemnas.
- KAIRI DOES NOT GET KILLED POINTLESSLY. OR, PREFERABLY, AT ALL. Under no account is it done "to motivate Sora". Do it because she's actually a threat, if you have to, and have it activate Rage Form.
- Remove Xemnas's rambling about "we have spare darknesses even if you turn them into lights", it has no followthrough and sounded stupid.
- Everyone fights Master Xehanort -- focus on team attacks situation commands for each phase, maybe Xehanort has different obstacles/barriers that can only be broken and make him vulnerable with the correct team attacks. Sora gets killed, as before, and Kairi tries to save him -- but her princess power is basically depleted, and she's killed in the process (or PREFERABLY, just lost to the winds. It is critical that this be due to something she chose to do, not just her getting fridged). Xehanort is defeated, but does not get to claim that he was really fighting for the light. Eraqus is disappointed in him. Xehanort does not get easy deathbed redemption.
- Make it clear at some point that the reason Xehanort still failed is that Sora's empathy, even with the Seekers (and especially with Xion), fucked up his recipe -- and that Xehanort could have never really succeeded in his plan because he treats his allies like pieces to be sacrificed for his own gain.
- ALSO MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT ERAQUS "won" BECAUSE HE WASNT TREATING HIS PIECES AS PAWNS, HE VALUED EACH ONE.
- Sora chooses to go after her, but without her power to keep him connected, his bonds to others and the realm of light dissolve (deja vu of 100 acre wood), and he himself is Xioned in the process -- the others know who he is, intellectually, but have lost their emotions of him (kinda like face blindness) as he fades away (added gut punch)
- Wild card glows as he fades away (hopefully this is what it was for in the original KH3? KHX better explain what the Wild Card was)
- Secret movie is same as before, but hopefully they give better hints as to why the crap Riku is there too (and why Kairi can't be there too, seriously, she is a character)
KH1/KH2 patch request
- Fix all translations, at least for items
- Add theater mode and item sprites to KH1 for all versions of game
WTF
open questions (feel free to give me answers if I missed something or misremembered a detail). Please note that these are not about obvious sequel hooks like "who is subject X" or "Xigbar WHAAAAAAAT". This is stuff that happened in-game, is by all appearances "given closure" in-game, but is not explained sufficiently or contradicts information given elsewhere.
(Also, having a "scenario mysteries" section in the ultimanias really should have been more alarming to more people than just me. If it's answered in the ultimania, it wasn't something that was left open for future games to answer -- it's just shit that was poorly explained in-game.)
Nope, the secret reports didn't answer shit. They either restated stuff that was already covered in-game, or gave some hints to the "Subject X" which had basically nothing to do with the game's actual plot.
- What possible beef could Lexaeus have with Roxas?
- If all of the time-travelers are mere hearts using Replica bodies, then what was the deal with Young Xehanort in KHBBS, or Maleficent in KHUX? Why wouldn't they be Heartless, like Sora and Ansem were?
- Why does Lea have a black coat, but not Ienzo? Why is Lea able to use Corridors, but not Ienzo?
- Why does no one ever mention Anti Aqua's claims ever again?
- Why can Roxas still dual-wield?
- What did the Organization plan to have Demyx do?
- What were Saix, Xemnas, Xigbar, Master Xehanort, Ansem, and Terra-Xehanort doing before the final battle?
- Why does Vexen act evil when no one is watching, if it's all supposed to be a ruse?
- Where did Lingering Will go?
- Where did Demyx go?
- Are Isa and Lea orphans? Don't they have family in Radiant Garden? Why do they settle in Twilight Town, instead of going home?
- Did Riku seriously just invite Lea, Isa, Xion, and Roxas to a party in front of Hayner, Pence, and Olette?
- Is Kairi creeped out that Riku basically had a clone of her built for him to date?
- Wasn't Roxas the one interested in Namine?
What is with the deja vu after The Final World?-- apparently poorly explained time-travel.- HOW is it time travel? KH3D says very clearly that that kind of time travel can't change the future, yet both this scene (and, from what it sounds like, Maleficent in KHUX) end up having the ability to change things. Plus, why did Sora have to rescue his friends if he can just go back in time and change them dying?
- Is Terra-Xehanort from before KH1, or from after Ansem and Xemnas died? If after, why hasn't he visibly aged like Ienzo and Lea did? Why does Xemnas look older than him?
- If Roxas and Xion used replicas to time travel from the past, and Terra was the heartless that joined along with Terra-Xehanort, don't they have to return to the past?
- Why does Xemnas talk about replacing Xion, if she is still used for the final key?
- How did Xehanort continue to use Xion as a darkness in Scala ad Caelum after she rejected him?
- How did Xehanort convince Demyx, Marluxia, Luxord, and Larxene to rejoin, given that they act like they very much did not care to rejoin?
- Why did the darknesses not need to be keyblade wielders? If it just needs to be lights and darknesses, shouldn't the X-blade have been formed a long, long time ago from the various other battles between good guys and bad guys in the series? If it needs to be at Keyblade Graveyard, what about the original war or the times TVA showed up there? If people need to die for it to be formed, then why did the Xehanorts expect to win?
- How can Vexen and Demyx (and Saix?) do anything undercover if organization members can see and hear people talking before being physically present?
- Why did Terra-Xehanort declare his name was Ansem in KH3D?
- Why was the No Name cloned in the creation of the X-blade? Isn't the X-blade supposed to be the original blade, and the No Name is just a tool of prophecy by the MoM?
- Why is the "Final Keyhole", which required the princesses to activate, opened at Radiant Garden if Radiant Garden is not indicated to be significant to Kingdom Hearts or the Keyblade War?
- Why are the original princesses claimed to be depowered, if they still had power after opening the final keyhole, and kairi still has power?
- What was the point of the New Seven Hearts? KH3D already indicated that the original princesses would be used if the guardians weren't willing.
- What was the purpose of Riku Replica, Vanitas, and Young Xehanort's experiments? Were they just for recreating Xion? If so, why did Xion convert so easily?
- Is Xehanort's Baphomet armor a Keyblade Armor? Why doesn't he use his previous armor?
- Why did Ansem SoD waste time trying to get Ansem W's data, if it didn't end up being needed for the final fight
- Why did Ansem SoD not get upset that Vexen rebelled, and the Organization did nothing to stop his plans to summon Roxas?
- Who the hell was at World that Never Was in KH3D? Xemnas claimed more than half the Organization failed to become proper vessels, and they wanted Sora as their final vessel. Minutes after that, though, Master Xehanort, Young Xehanort, Ansem, Xemnas, Xigbar, Saix, Vanitas, brainwashed Riku-Replica, and Terra-Xehanort implicitly show up at TWTNW (having been indicated to be members earlier in the game). In KH3, Vexen is recruited for his Replica program, Xion is recruited to replace Sora, and Demyx, Luxord, Marluxia, and Larxene are recruited as a group for a secret purpose. Assuming Xion wasn't present at KH3D, that still indicates that either Vexen or Demyx must have been there. Demyx should have been there if Luxord, Marluxia, and Larxene are there. However, after Arendelle Marluxia(?) claims that they are still one member short -- despite them having Vexen by this time. Was Vexen never intended to be part of the final 13, and was just a servitor? If not, then who could be the "missing 13th", that wouldn't have needed to have been there at TWTNW? Also, how in any way is 7/14 "less than half", even assuming they didn't know they would have Vexen or Xion when they said it?
- If Ansem SoD is just Xehanort's heart, and his body was extinguished in BbS, how come Master Xehanort didn't come back after KH1? If he needed to be removed from Terra-Xehanort first, then how come KH3 Terra-Xehanort still has Xehanort in him and exists at the same time as Master Xehanort? Is he also a time traveler? At TWTNW, were we watching a body and heart rejoining, or were we watching Xehanort being copied/removed from Terra-Xehanort?
