Replacing the Wizard enemy from the original game, Bookmasters (ブックマスター Bukkumasutā?) are close relatives to the magic-using Heartless such as Crimson Jazz. Like their predecessor, Bookmasters first appear in Hollow Bastion.

Bookmasters can use all forms of magic other than Gravity, Reflect, and Cure. They can also hit you with their book. This attack is hard to deflect. Their magic hits from quite a distance, so it's best to hit fast and hard with the Keyblade.

There is a small chance that defeating a Bookmaster will reward Goofy with the Akashic Record weapon.

A more powerful version of this Heartless, called Rune Master, appears in the Cavern of Remembrance in Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+.

Journal Entry

A great mage who can handle all three types of elemental magic.

It bears a striking resemblance to Red Nocturne, Blue Rhapsody, and Yellow Opera when changing stance for use of each magic. It is immune to all magic, and should be defeated immediately.
