Tokyo Skytree

The Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー, Tōkyō Sukaitsurī^?) is an observation tower in Tokyo, Japan and the tallest tower in the world. From January 8, 2019 to March 5, 2019, the Tokyo Skytree held a special Kingdom Hearts exhibition called the Tower of Radiance and Shadow (光と闇の塔, Hikari to Yami no Tō^?).

The Tower of Radiance and Shadow event occupied the top half of the Tokyo Skytree observation decks, with special displays from the 445th floor and higher. Before heading up to the exhibition proper, attendees could watch a special 8 minute feature of the series's history on the Skytree Round Theater, an enormous 360° glass window theater. As one ascended the tower, they would be greeted with various photo op set pieces and artwork displays. The final windmill corridor leading to the 450th floor was covered with displays; one side showed collages of worlds and their characters, while the other showed various world maps from the Kingdom Hearts series.

At the highest floor, there was a model of a special Keyblade created for the event, the eponymous Tower of Radiance and Shadow. In addition, there was an interactive exhibit in which attendees could take a Keyblade and open the Door to Light, with the set piece including hitherto unreleased character renders from the then-upcoming Kingdom Hearts III.

Attendees had the opportunity to try to collect five stamps featuring characters from Kingdom Hearts III in the Stamp Rally campaign. Four of these stamps were distributed at various exhibits, while the last could be earned by spending ¥1,500 or more at the merchandise shop. A complete stamp collection could be redeemed for a limited-supply postcard. Both the stamp collection and the postcards were sold online following the event.

Merchandise[edit]

During the event, the Tokyo Skytree hosted a Kingdom Hearts shop selling limited time goods. Many of the products were later made available through online retailer Aitai Kuji.
