Original Character?

The original character page is not letting me edit the list of characters so I can't add the Ice Colossus. Could you do it? Or can you call the Ice Colossus an original character? TNE is for it but she needs confirmation from other users. What do you think? Organization13 12:59, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

First of all, thanks for bringing up the IRC concerns, the hints at swears and subjects that are not too "PG" have been starting to become more common. A couple of channel operators, including myself, are still unclear on some of the troubling events you mentioned having transpired. I know there was a discussion ages ago about keeping most of the main ones consistent (just for clarity), but altering more casual things like the welcome template. I can't remember if that was a part of the BBS revamp discussion, though... I think we should still keep any art we use official, though; it only takes one piece of fan art for people start pointing out "But YOU guys do it!" and things becoming annoying from there. I'll seem to recall there were a couple of pretty nice pieces already avaliable for the welcome template that would look great with the BBS theme. As for the staff page, perhaps a discussion there would be more appropriate. I think it would be nice to have a change; I'm just not sure what we could change it to this time around. Keyblade masters?

I think the warning templates, for example, need to maintain a similar appearance from incarnation to incarnation so it's immediately identifiable as such to both staff and regular editors. I'm probably not going to make it on IRC tonight as I'm going to visit my parents tonight. If I happen to make it on, that would be nice, but I'm probably not going to be back until fairly late. However, I am going to try to be on tomorrow night, and if not then, then definitely Wednesday.

Since you won't let me use the BBS talk bubbles, as they're fan-made, I was limited to the Days characters. Made the task insanely hard. But I still want to do it, so don't get the wrong idea by my saying that. However, LevL and I were talking. We're doing this change for a BBS theme. Doesn't that make not using BBS images a bit stupid? Obviously full renders won't work out, so what other choice do we have? While I'm happy changing the characters/quotes/colors, changing the Days templates to Days templates when we have a BBS theme is sort of backwards logic. Plus our Days sprites are no less fan images than the BBS ones, as Xiggie chopped off the part that shows who's talking in all of the ones we used in the template. If you want to get technical, the BBS images still use official renders as a basis, and the fact that part of the image was missing all this time made the Days sprites fan-images. I still understand where you're coming from, but try to see what I mean by this. I leave for Florida very early tomorrow morning, thus having to go to bed early tonight. If you could save all changes to templates until after I get home when we could talk about this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! EDIT: Also, let me point out one last thing. There are some images that are obviously fanart. Some we can deal with. Those that are obviousl fanart we wouldn't use. For example: VanitasUnmaskedTalk.png We wouldn't use this, as it's obviously fan-made, a recolored Sora merged with Vanitas's body MasterAqua.png True it's technically a fan image due to the background and the fact that a screenshot was edited to make it, but it's technically more official than the othr one, and this would be what we'd use for the templates. You can see how these images would work out in a template here. Again, thank you so much. I know this isn't easy, but so many of us, myself included, unfortunately, want the "sub-official" talk bubble sprites used.

They only have some meager English quotes, so I'd like to put off the transition of this theme in the templates to October (I'll have beaten and probably memorized the script to BBS by then) :P That way, we get better and a wider array of quotes. Right now, what we have from the E3, Gamestop, and Gameplay trailers are not enough. Petty battle quotes will have to do, at least for the examples.

To sum up the big speech of DemonicKunai, there was a possible sockpuppet on the IRC with the I.P. address 108.25.55.70, and he abused the bot and created multiple log ins. The person said that was his nephew and his brother. I'm not sure what to say about that though. Also, there was major chaos with no OPs on the channel at the time though. [Ѧüя◎ґ]

Talk Images

Okay, two quick things, Miss Kate:

• I'm so proud of myself, I am actually getting into Doctor Who. Bwahahahaha.
• I have been doing mass image deletions lately of those images that go against the image policy, particularly the rule that if unofficial media is not in a user's talk template, it should be deleted. I noticed that many of the holiday images you created several months ago will need to be deleted, including the sprite on your user page, along with the other images on your user page. Just because isn't a bubble now does not mean it will not be again. ^_^ Seriously, I will probably be re-using my Christmas image, so if I delete it, I will have to re-upload it come the winter. Re:Forum:Wiki Thoughts - Please Read

A few days ago, I sent TNE an essay I wrote on issues with the wiki, and I understand that she forwarded it to you. TNE was thinking of creating a forum akin to the one you just did, and that essay was going to be an integral part of what we were trying to do. I'm not too sure if I should post it there or not, and since it's your forum (and you've already read it), I'm asking for your approval or disapproval. KKD

Uh, Bluer posted that staff nominations and elections pretty much fall in the realm of bureaucrats now. Twice, actually, in the Staff Reorganization topic. Not because we want to take away any "powers", but because for the last six months, everyone's been spending way too much time discussing staff instead of editing the wiki or working on other stuff. KrytenKoro - Click TALK - Oh! Sorry, I must have misunderstood his message. May I ask why, though? When I first asked Bluerfn about electing new staff, he said that it "needed to be more transparent, and I needed to show that it was the community wanted", so you can probably see how this new decision is confusing.

We had a huge conversation about it just now, and we had another massive one not two months ago. He and I think, much as we value the input and opinions of everyone, that much too much time has been spent on it. It's also part of the wiki being a wiki, I think. Some editors think there needs to be staff present all the time. The fact is we can't. We're not a massive wiki like FF Wiki. We have lives; you know this quite well. ^_^ Adding more editors just to "cover the bases" really isn't going to help anything. I think we just need to tighten our the skills of the current roster. Also, some people are going to have to learn to be patient and help us control the situation until we can get here. ^_- One other small concern is not in this case, but for the future. There is a chance someone would try push an election through just so they can have a shot at being a staff member. We're not trying to remain all-powerful, but we do want people to understand that being a staffer is nothing to be taken lightly, and is a position of responsibility, not superiority. It's certainly nothing you did, Kryten, if that's your concern. You've been very fair and reasonable in the situation, you handled the conversations well, and have made some great suggestions. I don't know if promoting me was one of your better ideas, though... ^_^ Seriously, if anyone has any issues with this decision, you may kindly point them to Bluer or myself.

It doesn't distract us any more than all the forums do. Even less so now that we've gotten to that actual voting. All users need to do is vote and be done with it. We do need more staff. From what I've seen, the only admin that really edits frequently is DTN. I know, real life, and I'm not belittling the admins that don't edit, and I don't expect them to be on all the time, but we still need active staff that will be on for longer than an hour or two a day. With all due respect, no matter how huge the discussion you and Bluerfn had was, two people shouldn't be the only ones to decide this.

I think that, especially with BBS coming up, we need reliable staff that can monitor the recent additions, delete fake articles, move newly uploaded images, and in general battle "WikiKrakens". I understand that you and Blue are concerned about people spending time on the elections, but there's also the fact that right right now, there isn't much else to do - there is general cleanup, as there is at all times, but when BBS is released in English, we will be very hard up, and it will be difficult for the current staff to stay on top of the tide. I honestly think that this is the ideal time to get this out of the way, and prepare for "the storm ahead". I hope this makes sense, Jeeves

We want someone who will work well with the wiki, too. I'm very curious now, Lapis. You say we don't edit. By editing, do you mean mainspace edits, or anything in particular? I just want to clarify this.

You could very well be doing things that don't show up there (deleting images, blocking vandals, or whathaveyou), and if that's the case then I apologize. I haven't seen Ultima, HOO, or Guardian Soul on anything short of forums where they are requested. You and, to a lesser extent recently, Bluerfn are still a fair bit less active than say, DTN or KrytenKoro (though the latter will be inactive soon). Again, I totally understand why that is. Real life, work, whatever, and I don't have any problem with that, but the fact is that we're really going to need admins that have more free time very soon.

I do apologize for my recent inactivity. I have been incredibly busy this summer with marching band, camps, a lovely vacation, and regular IRC babysitting (which is no longer the case). I've got a life, you guys know that. But honestly, when Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days came out, I don't remember a copious amount of fake articles and vandalism. There were a few here and there, but nothing that someone cannot ping an active admin about to take out. Also remember than certain inactive admins are available very often by IRC, sepcifically Hexedmagica. I think I've seen Ultima there too. My courses begin again soon, and I will not be able to remain my previous "full activity." I can still do what I can, though, should not be a problem to contact me for administrative purposes. An admin is just as much an editor as any other user, the only deciding factor that can relate an admin's activity to a need for more admins is how easily they can be contacted, and how often they can check the wiki. I should still be able to receive my watchlist updates from my phone and be on my laptop every day to keep up with the notifications, so I see no problem there. I don't think we truly need this staff election. A smaller one for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep I would have agreed with, but not the induction of 2+ new admins and several new moderators. Patience needs to be learned, what is wrong with the amount of current staff activity now? Is the wiki crumbling down? Is there mass vandalism that cannot be stopped by admins? Are fake articles and information pouring in? The answer to all of these questions is a big "no". Even with Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, I do not think levels of vandalism and new editors will rise enough to require two new admins and several new mods. Heck, even just one new admin to replace the Grand Super Special Awesome King Administrator of Ridiculous Greatness would be enough, or promoting our two active mods up at the most. Look at the Final Fantasy Wiki. You know how many active admins they have? No more than five or so. We certainly do not need a full set of, eventually, 10+ admins active on a smaller, less active wiki.

Deleted images

I changed the images used in the articles to the standardized sprites that Shard had uploaded. I deleted most of the rips as "duplicated/superseded", but if you wanted to restore them and rename them to "X Detailed", like with the Champion Belt, that would make sense too. However, it looked really awkward for the weapon galleries to have 90% of the images in one style, with others in a different manner.Glorious CHAOS! 01:45, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

The others were slightly better quality images, though, since they gave a better look at the details of each...Premium Mushroom is a prime example. In the front image, you can see details such as the XIII emblem, where as in the sprite, you can barely make it out. I seriously doubt anyone really cares that much about how they appear in a gallery on what is basically an index page so long as they gave a better view of the item in question on the page of the actual item itself. Hi my name is GrandPyromania, and I am a Let's Player on youtube. Basically what a Let's Play is, is that it's a video walkthrough of a videogame, with the person's own commentary, to add instruction, and entertainment to the viewers. My current Let's Play is of Kingdom Hearts. I'm wondering if you guys would be interested in affiliating with me for the duration of this Let's Play, and any future Kingdom Hearts LPs. Basically what this affiliation would be, is that I would be able to use the resources that you guys have, such as information on bosses and heartless and whatnot, and you guys could promote me a little bit.
