Quick Question

I talked to Kryten about my edits to Xehanort's Heartless. He claims Battle Quotes are useless. He feels the same about videos. I disagree, feeling that this is essential to the Boss pages. I have no clue how to do the formatting. If I make the changes, will you either fix them or teach me how to? Do I have your permission to do this?

Sometimes, they make the page look cluttered. And BQs are kind useless. They really don't give any information, other than what the enemy shouts/says in battle.

TALK - I didn't say anything about the videos; I said you ripped up the page coding when you inserted them, and that my "reversion" of your edit was to fix that.

It has a lot of guidelines that the KH wiki community decided on as a whole so articles have continuity and are easy to read. It should make everything a bit clearer. We certainly don't mind you editing, but if there's something you're not sure of with the coding, please ask an experienced wiki member to make sure things go more smoothly. Mistakes will happen in the beginning; as I used to tell my students, how would you learn anything otherwise?

We're still finishing up, so those will be deleted when we get to them.

I gave the Manual of Style a glance, and it doesn't seem to contain what I need. I am getting used to everything here, yet Kryten gives me a hard time like I'm trying to get on his nerves and am messing up coding, formatting, etc. on purpose. I will get better, have faith in me -_-

Headings just need to be changed. The umlaut should also be added to "Saix" in the page's name. I used a small screenshot of the Anti-Saix battle as the image. Do what you will with the page. I did not delete the "delete" template, as directed, as well.

Thanks ^_^ The WhiteWolf userbox stands out, I see. Lovely. Okay. I'll enlist you, Xiggie, and a few other users who are interested in helping - to ensure that every userbox has its own category. Because as far as I remember, some of the Character userboxes don't have categories (notably those of the Organisation). Same goes for in-game preferences. Never mind if the Userbox page is flooded with categories : that's gonna be the only page which fits into all categories, anyway. And as for the homework, we're learning about Ancient Egypt in World History, reviewing the most boring book ever known to man (or at least me) in English, and discussing atoms and the elements in Science...we've had 3 tests, quizzes, and long-term projects/essays due all in the past two weeks...stressful to me, to say the least...then again, stressful doesn't even cover it. So what grade did you teach?

Seems to be taking a good direction; I like the content list. If I have any grand ideas, I'll add them. As for my teaching: One year of high school right after college, original subjects were physics and physical science. Loved teaching, but not high schoolers (No offense to several of y'all...t'was a rough school in a rough area.) Was a long-term elementary substitute teacher (so everything from kindergarten to fifth in that span) and taught part-time at a museum for a few years while I got my graduate degree and license in elementary education. Taught first grade for a year and loved, loved, loved it. New administrator came in the next year. Taught fifth grade for a year and hated it, though it had its moments. Couldn't transfer as I was still classified as "new", so I left teaching because certain parties were more interested in the school's test scores than the students welfare and decided to make my life difficult. If you leave voluntarily, you can't go back for a year to keep people from bypassing the transfer system. I'd love to go back to teaching at a charter or non-public school that seems more interested in students than pandering to the worst educational program to ever be created. I'd also love to go back to museum teaching if I could figure out a way to make a living at it; I still do that on occasion if they're short for scout camps. So, yeah. Not the most stable of career beginnings. Honestly, I have yet to meet someone who has, so I'm oddly normal in that respect.

If it gets that heated, just stop talking to him and alert one of us; we'll take care of it. I have no idea what's going on, but could you please unblock this IP so that Ninja can come online? I think that there's something wrong with the WIKIA system... Ninja has the same IP as NaturaVega, and (at least) I am getting a bunch of messages (before I sign in) from Wikis I've never even heard of, and sometimes I'm getting warnings... I don't know what going on... perhaps I should tell someone at the Central about this?

It is a technical Wikia problem, and is completely out of my hands. We have to wait for them to resolve it. If you have a serious technical issue, the fastest course of action is to go into the IRC tech channel, the second channel listed in the drop down menu. There are likely to be a couple of people there who can actually help you (ignoring any jerks who dismiss you as "noobs"), and at the very least pass it on to the proper channels much more quickly. However, you are still likely to have to wait; I'm sure they have a priority for fixing things. It sucks, I know, but that's the way it works in the end.

Do you happen to know how the categories in forum pages are configured ? I'm having trouble over KHFR - problem is, we've been trying to create the forum pages, along with their respective categories (TWTNW = DTD and Twilight Town Library = Tour du Souvenir - decided to use other names instead) - but they just didn't work, and the only category which showed up was "Forums" instead.

Deleting User Talk Content

She mentioned something about a hate list, which also reminds me of previous users creating hate lists. I was wondering, at what point can the line be drawn for hate lists, or suggesting that a user dislikes/hates/cannot stand toward another user(s), be fair for a warning? I noticed that many case have just been passed by, mostly in underlined hints at not liking other users in user talk pages.

TALK - Here's your cat...and here's your $20...04:44, November 1, 2009 (UTC) It's one thing to say that someone doesn't get along with or agree with another editor and is frustrated with them on a page or project; as long as it's phrased in a reasonable or non-threatening manner, that's fine. We can't expect everyone to see eye to eye, and as long as people work out their issues in a mature manner or put the issue aside to continue wiki work as usual, I'm not going to get myself involved. My guidelines for issuing warnings are: When someone actively seeks out controversy, such as making a "hate list". The person's words are chosen to provoke the target and/or start an issue that affects or draws in others. If someone says they're frustrated with another user and leave it there, that's fine. If someone uses abusive language or makes accusations essentially to provoke a response from their target or other users, that's not okay and it needs a warning. If someone makes threats of violence (unless they are obviously in jest), that absolutely calls for a warning. If you see something from the abusive or threatening category going on, please let a sysop know in addition to issuing a warning. We can't monitor everyone's talk pages since they remain extremely active, and so it would be easy for us to miss something. And if someone has issued a warning and the person is responding back as belligerently as before, don't respond! Don't say things like, "Stop arguing" or "You are so banned!" or "When BebopKate/GS/Hecko gets here you are going to be in trouble..." Don't say anything! Don't give them a reason to respond! A lot of our more recent issues caused by banned visitors have been caused by wiki editors trying to get the last word in. Instead, just one editor needs to let the sysops know of the problem on our talk pages and one of us will handle the issue when we get on. And now...on to less serious discussion topics, I hope.

Confusion

Alright im confused about this and since Troisnyxetienne is taking a three week hiatus or possibly leaving all together i have to talk to you. As i made my walktroughs trough normal articles Troisnyxetienne put them in my userspace and nominated the empty pages for deletion. Now you removed those which lead me here so i could ask you how i acces my userspace cause i cant find my introduction page or part 1 of the walktrough. Its a big mess of....things. Maybe we should table those left or right with text next to it so it doesn't leave so much white space? Come to think of it, I'd almost rather do that with all the challenges. I usually play through the mission as I write the walkthrough; other than occasionally consulting GameFAQs for chest locations if I've already snagged them, all the info I have is literally in my hands. If you have stats that are only found elsewhere, it would be great if you could add those for me. It can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour to write down one mission and it can get a bit tiring and makes me prone to making mistakes or missing info, so any proofreading after me would be a major help. *salutes Major Help* ^_- Unfortunately, I have to get up early in the morning; I'm probably bugging out as soon as I'm done with this. Peter Pan is going to be in Birth by Sleep, so it's probably best that we stay away from articles with speculation. But yeah, more people need to work on character articles... Our information is pretty lacking.

As you can see, there is an issue with the finding the correct Block-type sprites from the game. Since I know that you are a very skilled spriter, do you know of any spriting resource where I can find these? The Spriter's Resource was of no help, as it has the wrong sprites. If not, I also suggested that you might be able to create the correct forms of the sprites by recoloring or adding letters; however, I don't want you to feel like you have to do that, as having you actually create sprite-replicas for us is an awful lot of work. I'd rather just be able to find sprites to cut out of a sprite sheet.

For example, I tried to calm a few people down and tried to reason about waiting for the new material before getting hyped up, but then one of the admins on there took it as an offense. I tried to clear things up but all I've seen so far is that its been completely corrupted by fans. I was thinking maybe I could promote the fan-wiki there but I need help how I can approach to them about it so myself and anyone else on there or who else knows the show would like to help clean it up. What can I do?

I know that right now, autoprotect against new and unregistered users has been put into effect for main pages (Sora, Riku, Kairi, Xion etc...). But some take advantage of this by editing the less important pages... I guess the best thing to do would be to be more vigilant. There is no round-the-clock admin support... because most, if not all of the admins, are restricted to one time zone. Exceptions are Ultima and... possibly Bluer. I'm not sure. My schedule varies greatly from day to day because of my job and outside interests. I can say I'll generally be on in the evenings on weekdays and in the afternoon on weekends, but there are always exceptions to that rule, depending on friends and family plans, errands that need to be run, etc. Sometimes I might stick around for an hour to edit, other times I might poke my head in to make sure things are cool and then leave because I'm tired because I've had a long day at work. I also don't know if I'd put up a "schedule" for us; trolls might find it and use it exploit the fact there are no admins around. Angela's awesome but I don't think I'd bother her unless it was severe vandalism, someone attacking several articles or users, for example. The little stuff can wait, really, since I'm sure she's busy enough as is. That's my two cents, anyway. (Conversion rates may apply. ^_^)

As you can see, the "Terms" section is used for important items throughout the game. For KH1, terms would be Keyhole, Mickey's Letter, Final Keyhole, Postcard, and Ansem Report. Please add to the list if I missed anything. For "Music", since we don't have many music articles, we can throw in the soundtracks the game's songs appears in, and the Utada theme. As for "Archives", we don't really have lists like the FFWiki does, so what should be done with this section? Answer that, and give commentary on the statements for "Terms" and "Music", and I'll throw these templates together. Please respond soon, so that life can be given to some brand new navigation templates.

However, due to my inhumane obsession with having the image face the text as it was with my RoxasMoogle images, is it possible for the image to be reversed across the y-axis to fit that need? Sprites!

For a self-project that I'm working on, I'll be using some sprites from the original Final Fantasy. However, I'm interested in using the ones from the PSP version, and I can't find them. I know that you have a resource(s) for sprites, and I was wondering if you could provide me with links to these sites so that I may check your resources. Sprite Database is the one I've usually turned to, but I think they specialize in older sprites. They don't appear to have the PSP version up yet. I'll do some research when I get back this evening and see what else I can find... BebopKate 17:48, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

KH1 template draft complete!

However, I have several questions that I stumbled upon... Is the Bathtub really a character? Are we going to be making templates for the Final Mixes as well? I was thinking yes, so I left out "Unknown". Are you okay with a summons section under "Characters"? Would Princesses of Heart be considered a term? Also, what about Lucky Charm, since it appears in multiple games? Did I miss any other terms? In the "Archives" section, I added the weapon category for Kingdom Hearts, but it only includes Donald's staves, Goofy's shields, and party member items. We have no Keyblade articles seperated by game, so should that be set up? Otherwise, I don't want to leave the non-Keyblade weapons without the Keyblades in the "Archives" section. Please respond soon so that necessary changes can be made, and this template can be implemented. Thanks!

A separate template just for Final Mix stuff would probably be wise to lessen confusion. Summons under characters works just fine for me, unless someone else has a good reason to object to it. I would consider Princesses of Heart a term because not every princess (i.e. Ariel) is one. Hmmm...I think that wouldn't be a bad idea, especially considering it's pretty easy to confuse some similar-looking and themed Keyblades between games (Olympia vs. Hero's Crest, or Three Wishes vs. Wishing Lamp, as examples). Would you need some help with that? I know Azul wants to help out on this while he's around, and I would be willing to assist as well.

But point is, the only Final Mix element in KH is Unknown, (apart from the 2 extra Keyblades), nothing else. For KHII there'll be greater changes, so it'd be wiser to make a KHIIFM template, but not KHFM, don't you think ?... Thought I'd give you a sneak peek into...... this. It's ENX's idea, by the way. I did this because I didn't want to forget anyone of us, and I want to be able to meet every single one of my friends on KHW/KHFR someday. Better still if I do get to live my dream of hitting the big stage - I hope to be able to organise surprise visits and stuff, if I do get to tour. Instructions are like this : Print out the pass. Cut along the rounded rectangle. Write your username inside. Keep it somewhere safe. Once you have the pass at hand, inform me about your locale. I can't have everyone barging in for the Limit Pass, so it's only by invitation. What do you think ? You were the one who chose to begin an article with what you blatantly knew was a made-up name, in spite of being warned at least three times on your own talk page not to put speculation in articles like that, not to mention on other article talk pages. Besides, that "just a name" turns up in other places, like search engines, making it easier for outside users to find and misinterpret. Technically, it should have been deleted based on that, but your source is fairly reliable, the article was decently written, and I felt it would be a waste to delete it, so it was moved instead.

I know you have made a lot of effort in trying to help us out, and you have improved quite a bit. I also know you are excited about the game coming out; trust me, we all are. But trying to get the jump on other editors with information by posting a fake name because you are not sure what to call an article is not the right step to take. In the future, please ask if you are not sure. It may take us a while to answer, but we will. Some bits of trivia simply do not fit in to any section of an article. For example, here is one of the pieces of trivia from Sora: "There is a clear reference to Sora in Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Edition for the PSP; a child in the randomized dungeon Whisperwind Cove says 'I've been having these weird thoughts lately... like... how did I get to this place!?'." This doesn't fit into any part of Sora's article, so it must go into the Trivia section. In most cases, however, trivia should be worked into an article, to prevent the Trivia section from having over seven "trivia". Only the most diverse "trivia" should be placed in the section with no intention of having them moved into another section, such as this example from Sora's article.

Don't get me wrong, trivia can be quite fun, and yes, there will be a few bits and pieces that don't seem to fit anywhere, but honestly, trivia sections are pretty sloppy writing. It's sort of like saying, "Hey, we have some info, but we don't think it's important enough to be in the main sections. We'll just chuck it all here at the end." If you look hard enough, most trivia should fit into existing parts of the article, and if it doesn't, then it should be considered if it's really worth keeping around. Not trying to rewrite the Manual of Style or anything, nor am I going to be a jerk about it, but I'm just putting across my point of view after doing lots of heavy duty writing in college and graduate school.

Yermom basically tagged along for the ride. DTN and I have never been "keen" so it's only natural he'd disagree with me. If you come on the IRC, I can explain this in greater detail. Basically from what I have seen, he doesn't want to change them because HE was the one who remodeled them last time, hence needs to be protective/defensive and needs to rally an "army." He always does this around my suggestions. I don't wish for some dispute to start because of this message, but that's just me getting my feelings out in a polite way. Knowing him, this will probably be challenged. Merely changing quotes and images is in no way preventing us from using the templates.

I would actually be happy to explain, BebopKate. As you know, the wiki's fan art policy is one that is powerfully enforced. The only exception is if the unofficial image is used in a talk template. The images used in these remodeled administrative templates are not official, they are the renders of various Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep characters put over a colored background found in a sprite from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. This certainly doesn't do our fan art policy any justice, since it gotes completely direct it. Our fan art policy will hardly stay a policy if we allow for any further exceptions such as this. The final product will also not be as good as what we have now, in my opinion, since the images were not created by Square-Enix. Another issue I remember from the forum post was that there are very few main characters from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep that will have a variety of appropriate quotes, yet there are very many administrative and maintenance templates. The users who agreed on this matter were myself, HeartOfOblivion, Yer mom, and Xiggie. You can view our provided reasoning here. Also, ENX, 1000 people's opinions? The only opinion that I've observed to remodel the templates has been from you. Perhaps you could provide us sources from the other users who also want the templates remodeled? And as much as I don't like drama, I'm dispelling this right now. ENX, I have nothing against your as an editor, or as a person. Our opinions merely differ, as will everyone's on the wiki. However, I find that your assumptions are very offensive to me. I don’t care who remodeled the templates last time, or now. I don't think it matters if I remodeled the templates last time; that means nothing to me. Fan art is fan art, and as much as Xiggie's cleaned up the stuff, I'd rather wait and see what Square has in store for us in terms of more official work. We should focus more about the front page in terms of the theme for the time being. But, I feel the need to say I'm actually getting a bit concerned we're getting carried away with the template issue as a whole. My two cents are that I think we need to remain simple and more consistent with those, as much fun as they are to make and look at. Goodness knows I've made a few. But as Kryten has pointed out in the Forums, we have so many templates now that they're getting a bit unwieldy when we have to deal with more than one on a page. Plus, there are some we don't even use much, if ever. Maybe we need to work on making a more "permanent" set of them. Just a thought.
