About Goofy's Shields

Throughout the Kingdom Hearts games, Goofy is able to wield a variety of shields. They are often stylized, and come in various different sizes--some are large, others are smaller. There are more differences than just size, however.

In the games, there are two different types of shields Goofy can use. There are smaller shields that are used solely for attacking, and there are larger shields that can also block various attacks. (The Falling Star shield is an example of an attack-only shield, while the Chain Gear is an example of a defensive shield.)

Goofy's Shields are some of the strongest items in the games, strength-wise. In Kingdom Hearts II, [Save the King]] has a strength boost of 9, giving it the biggest stat boost in the aforementioned game. Goofy's middle-level shields are often the same strength as some of Sora's Higher-level Keyblade.

Most of the shields bought from Item Shops are simple, and don't have any special abilities. However, in Kingdom Hearts II, Shields dropped by certain enemies will give Goofy special abilities. For instance, the Nobody Guard shield (obtained occasionally by defeating Gamblers) will grant Goofy the Hyper Healing ability. These are all abilities that Goofy obtains in said game, but this is useful if the Ability points are needed for something else.

Goofy's Ultimate weapon is the Save the King, a shield with the highest strength boost in any game it appears in. The method of obtaining differs; in the original Kingdom Hearts, it is obtained by beating the Hades Cup time variant; in Kingdom Hearts II, it is obtained via synthesis. Also in Kingdom Hearts II, adding a Serenity Crystal will upgrade the shield to Save the King+, with a different ability and a new color scheme (the colors only change in Kingdom Hearts II:Final Mix+), but otherwise the same.
