===Notes from last issue===
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 16:38, 24 April 2016 (UTC)|default="Okay, the magazine is getting to the point where it's becoming an annoying thing to do rather than something fun that'll get more people interested in the wiki." I've had this reaction from several people over the last three months, including myself, so it's high time we find some ways to cut down on the amount of work needed to produce the magazine so that it's more manageable.
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 15:13, 4 October 2015 (UTC)|default=Hey guys, a reminder that when you send in your stuff, make sure to:
*Have all games in italics.
*Have everything coded.
*Attach any images to the email or mention their file names on the KHWiki/Keyhole.
*Send your piece before the 23rd.
Doing that will really help me out a lot, which means the magazine can be released as punctual as possible. Thanks!}}
{{Chainoffire|time={{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 16:54, 4 October 2015 (UTC)|roxas=Here's another friendly reminder that The Keyhole has a strict no-video policy, so any videos you may need for your article, please use the <nowiki>{{video}}</nowiki> template, and not the <nowiki><youtube></youtube></nowiki> tags. Any video uploaded will be deleted. Thanks!}}

===Changes===
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 15:13, 4 October 2015 (UTC)|happy=There's a couple of very small tweaks I'd like to put into the magazine (Template:Magazine 4.2 you could say). What do you guys think about:
*Swapping the order of the Dive to Heart so the Intro To piece comes last? That just makes sense to me because I'm guessing it'll usually be longer than the tutorials.
*And putting the coloured lineart in the black-and-white box? It might make the page look a little neater with the "Trip to Timeless River" title image encasing the entire box.
They're not essential changes, but I wonder what people will think of them.

Also, should we host the comments section on one wiki only and alternate each issue alongside the Journalist Spot? I find it frustrating having two separate places for comments because it makes me feel obliged to split my comment in two so I have something to write on each page. Thoughts?}}

{{Chainoffire|time={{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 04:43, 5 October 2015 (UTC)|happy= I agree with those two above changes. Maybe we could host the comment page on the magazine's talk page? (whichever held the journalist spot for that magazine.)}}
I think that we should cut our 13 page issue down into something like 7 pages, removing all the boring, useless bits that no one seems to like contributing. Maybe making what needs to go in the magazine more flexible so for example, if no one does an interview, it's fine because someone else did a Top 5 for that page.
{{TheSilentHero|time=06:52, 5 October 2015 (UTC)|roy=I'm against hosting the comments section on one wiki, because the comments aren't just for the users who contribute to the magazine, but also for those who read it, and not everybody has an account on both wiki's.}}
{{TheSilentHero|time=17:01, 8 October 2015 (UTC)|shulk=I have an idea for something extra to add to the magazine. Currently, the Birthdays box has a lot of unused space, so maybe we can split it in two and add a "Speculation Topic", which would be a question that people can speculate about on the talk page. (To get more people to comment on the talk page.) It could be something like "What do you think will happen to the series after KH3?" or "Who do you think will be in the new Organization XIII?"

What do you think?}}
Aixon suggested making it bi-monthly. At first, I was against this but now I've changed my mind and I support this.

{{Aixon|time= {{User:Aixon/Sig1}} 17:06, 8 October 2015 (UTC) |RoxasSad= I like and approve of the idea that you've put forward, SH. A speculation box would fill some unused space whilst also perhaps generating some healthy discussion, which is a good thing... }}
Thoughts?}}
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 19:55, 8 October 2015 (UTC)|persuade=There's no rule against anon edits on the comments page. Also, if not everybody has an account on both wikis and they're forced to make one, it encourages cross-editing, which is a good thing.
{{TheSilentHero|time=17:28, 24 April 2016 (UTC)|gren=I agree with cutting down the content. I was thinking of making basically everything optional, so we can use what has been done and leave out the rest. I'm not sure if making it bi-monthly will help. If we halve the content we use, but double the amount of issues released, we may end up with the same problems.

I'm all for the Speculation Topic!
Aside from that, the magazine is looking great!}}
Sorry, I meant halfly (twice a year). {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 20:00, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
:In that case, I think we should either reduce the content or the amount of issues, but not both. {{User:TheSilentHero/Sig}} 20:46, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

EDIT: Just another change I think we should make: I noticed that the sketchbook asks readers to send in their art, like the lineart and mailbag, but I don't think we should do that. The main sketchbook art should come from the Journalist Spot and the coloured lineart should focus readers. That's what I think anyway. Thoughts?}}
{{Chainoffire|time={{User:Chainoffire/sig}} 03:51, 25 April 2016 (UTC)|normal=Well, I say that we try reduced content first, and if it's still a hassle, then we go to half-year issues. But, the choice is ultimately up to you, do you feel like doing this again in July?
{{TheSilentHero|time=09:51, 11 October 2015 (UTC)|tlink=Why would readers be allowed to send in the colored lineart, but not their own art piece? I think it will make the section more varied.}}
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 15:44, 11 October 2015 (UTC)|dango=In an actual magazine, all the content comes from the editors and there's only a couple of special sections that's designated to reader-contributed work so I wouldn't want a page to be possibly full of reader-contributed art. Remember, the only difference between a "reader" and an "editor" is the 150 or so edits needed to be legible for the Journalist Spot. What does everyone else think?}}
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 18:36, 13 November 2015 (UTC)|default=Summary:
*Adding a "Speculation Topic" beneath the "Birthdays" area.
*Putting the Intro To beneath the tutorials.
*Putting all of the Timeless River in the black and white box.
We still need consensus on:
*Alternating between comments pages. (EDIT: resolved and agreed upon)
*Not allowing readers below 150 edits submit Sketchbook art (only lineart).
Additionally, what are we doing on the podcast front? It's been difficult to release any of these since UC's departure so what should we do instead?}}
{{TheSilentHero|time=18:44, 13 November 2015 (UTC)|gren=After some thought, I now agree on hosting the comments on only one of the wiki's.}}
:Bump. {{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 19:36, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 19:18, 3 December 2015 (UTC)|persuade=Okay! We need some more opinions if we're going to conclude whether readers below 150 edits should continue to be able to submit art to the main body of Namine's Sketchbook and should only be limited to the lineart. Personally, I think that's like a newspaper asking its readers to write its main columns. No newspaper works like that. Main columns are for the journalists to fill in (and this is the Journalist Spot).

We can't edit podcast videos anymore so we really need something else to fill in that page. I'm aiming this mainly at Chain, who wanted to do a revamp of some sorts last issue: what are we doing here?
Quick Note: the hover template parameters are switched on each wiki.
:Keyhole: <nowiki>{{hover|hidden|appearing}}</nowiki>
:KHWiki: <nowiki>{{hover|appearing|hidden}}</nowiki> }}
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 18:10, 25 April 2016 (UTC)|sad=As far as I go, I can't really commit to being Editor in Chief anymore without both factors being reduced. I'd be happy to let someone else take the job and only drop one factor though.

Lastly, there's still a lot of blank spaces. Let's get going! Issue 7 is the last one this year, we want it to go out with a bang!}}
Oh yeah, I forgot about how annoying that hover template is. I think we could change the KHWiki's [[Template:Hover]] to match the Keyhole, but someone'd have to fix the 50 or so pages that use it, if anyone wants to take up that job.}}
{{TheSilentHero|time=18:47, 4 December 2015 (UTC)|ganon=Technically, Issue 7 will be released in January, so it won't be released this year. But, seriously, I was wondering if you would post the mailbag questions here like last time so I (and the others) can choose a question to answer.}}
{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 18:51, 7 December 2015 (UTC)|persuade=Questions posted. True, it'll be released next year but it'll have the results of the End of Year.

By the way, rather than "Speculation Topic", would "Discussion Topic" be better to make it more general so that more types of questions could be asked?}}
{{Draaek|time={{User:Draaek/Sig}} 17:20, 12 May 2016 (UTC)|Dragon=Sorry to bring this up again but I think we should at least come to a conclusion before the mag ends up being forgotten.

== To Do List! ==
Honestly I agree with FM on reducing both. Lower amount of content means that we don't have to force ourselves into filling in what was left out but we all still have the pressure of coming up with the rest of the stuff on time, which I believe was the main issue we encountered. If we only lower the amount of issues we'll probably end up having the same content left out in need of someone to fill in regardless of how many time we have to do them.

{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 00:46, 6 December 2015 (UTC)|default=Things to sign for:
By lowering down both we can be way more flexible on the content that we put in and we can give more time to everyone to work on quality things rather than having to rush them (specially when most of us are in finals and all of that). Opinions?}}

{{TheFifteenthMember|time={{User:TheFifteenthMember/Sig1}} 19:41, 18 May 2016 (UTC)|default=Agreed with Draaek. We'd have to change the template to make everything optional and work out how to display sections if others are absent. A small issue is that if we start going twice a year now, the releases would always be in March and October, but it would make more sense for the magazine dates to lie on January (for the new year/end of year events) and July (hot off E3). That means we could either make an issue this July as usual then go with half yearly or just skip this issue, take a 9 month break and start the process in January. While the former is probably the preferable option, I (and most likely many others) will not be able to commit to the magazine so soon after the last one so unless there's someone willing to take the helm of Editor in Chief and there's enough people willing to write content, I'm afraid we might have to wait until January. Honestly, that might not actually be a bad thing because after a 9 month break, I'd be interested in seeing the good ideas that people will then come up with (although if KH3 release date gets announced this year, it'd be shame that we miss the issue).}}

Heard about the new magazine hosted on the KHWiki and the Keyhole and want to get involved? Here at the Journalist Spot, you can share ideas and help us work towards the release of our next issue.

How It Works[edit]

To begin with, you must be a registered user on both Wikis with a minimum of either 300 total edits at the KHWiki (check here) or 100 total edits at the Keyhole (check here).

Once you have that, you can sign-up to do any of the below but remember that it is your responsibility to complete anything you have signed up to at least a week before release. Fortunately, there's plenty of help along the way! Once you've signed up to something, you can share ideas about your topic below in the "Discussion" section. Then, other users will feedback and develop your ideas by giving their own thoughts and opinions so that you have enough inspiration to write your entire piece. If you are doing an interview, debate battle or podcast, work with your partner(s) at an off-Wiki location, such as the IRC or by email.

After you have a first draft, email it to "kingdomheartswikibcrat@gmail.com" so that the Editor in Chief can review your work, fix any mistakes and give you any advice that you might need. Please refrain from posting any drafts on the wiki to prevent ruining the surprise and satisfaction at the end result. Remember to update your status in the sign-up section and again, ensure that you email your work at least a week before release so that there is time to fix any potential issues.

The host for the Journalist Spot alternates every issue so you may need to visit The Keyhole if you want to get involved!

Submission Etiquettes[edit]

For the aid of the publisher, we now request everyone to observe the following etiquettes when you are submitting a piece of work:

Coding

Insert all the relevant coding in your email, including all images, font colors, formatting and links. Also insert the relevant parameters of your piece. For example, this is an example of a perfect riddle submission:

|gridriddle1=Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
|gridriddle1answer=consectetur adipiscing elit
|gridriddle1author=Cicero

Two templates have been made to handle links: Template:KHWiki and Template:Keyhole. These works by using the following parameters (this uses the KHWiki template as an example but the Keyhole is the same):

{{KHWiki|LINK DESTINATION|DISPLAYED LINK (optional)|HEX CODE FOR FONT COLOR (optional)}}

Example:

{{KHWiki|Donald Duck|Donald|#00000}}

Never use basic [[ ]] links unless you know that both Wikis have the page that you're linking to!

Make sure all property names (e.g. "Kingdom Hearts") are in italics!

Content

Allude to both Wikis as much as possible with links and mentions, unless your section is specific to one Wiki.

Images

Check that any images you use are available on both wikis under the same name. If not, mention in your email what the different file names are. If your image needs to be uploaded, send it as an attachment so that the editor can upload it later.

Due Date

It is vital that you submit your work before at least a week before the next issue is set to be released so that a) the publisher has time to add it into the rest of the magazine and b) there is time to fix any issues that there may be.

Eternal Flames KHD.png Well, I say that we try reduced content first, and if it's still a hassle, then we go to half-year issues. But, the choice is ultimately up to you, do you feel like doing this again in July?

Quick Note: the hover template parameters are switched on each wiki.

TheFifteenthMember Myes, but THEY didn't know that! We have to consider THEM! And yet we must also be mysterious, myes, myes... TheFifteenthMember 18:10, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
As far as I go, I can't really commit to being Editor in Chief anymore without both factors being reduced. I'd be happy to let someone else take the job and only drop one factor though.

Oh yeah, I forgot about how annoying that hover template is. I think we could change the KHWiki's Template:Hover to match the Keyhole, but someone'd have to fix the 50 or so pages that use it, if anyone wants to take up that job.

Sorry to bring this up again but I think we should at least come to a conclusion before the mag ends up being forgotten.

By lowering down both we can be way more flexible on the content that we put in and we can give more time to everyone to work on quality things rather than having to rush them (specially when most of us are in finals and all of that). Opinions?

TheFifteenthMember Yes. You're creepy. I can't say we'll miss you while you're gone, so it'd be best if you did go. We all win that way. TheFifteenthMember 19:41, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
Agreed with Draaek. We'd have to change the template to make everything optional and work out how to display sections if others are absent. A small issue is that if we start going twice a year now, the releases would always be in March and October, but it would make more sense for the magazine dates to lie on January (for the new year/end of year events) and July (hot off E3). That means we could either make an issue this July as usual then go with half yearly or just skip this issue, take a 9 month break and start the process in January. While the former is probably the preferable option, I (and most likely many others) will not be able to commit to the magazine so soon after the last one so unless there's someone willing to take the helm of Editor in Chief and there's enough people willing to write content, I'm afraid we might have to wait until January. Honestly, that might not actually be a bad thing because after a 9 month break, I'd be interested in seeing the good ideas that people will then come up with (although if KH3 release date gets announced this year, it'd be shame that we miss the issue).
