Destruction of property
In Kingdom Hearts III, you'll see various items around the worlds that can be targeted, like pots or crates. When hit, these reward you with various prizes, ranging from HP or MP prizes to synthesis materials, and sometimes even ingredients. When you see the targeting reticle, it never hurts to swing your Keyblade and see what you'll get.

After a brief overview of Hades's previous and current plans to take over the world, Sora and party arrive in Olympus, a slightly different, and much bigger, world compared to the Olympus Coliseum of previous games. They comment on the change of scenery (and lack of fanfare), and decide to head up the mountain.

After only a few steps, you'll arrive at a clearing, where a bunch of Heartless appear, consisting of Heartless Emblem.pngShadows, Heartless Emblem.pngSoldiers, Heartless Emblem.pngLarge Bodies, and Heartless Emblem.pngAir Soldiers. You'll get a tutorial on how to use Magic (keep in mind that Item iconWater magic can extract Shadows from the ground), and after beating them all, you'll receive an increase in Sora's max HP.

Soldier
Soldier KHIII.png
Attacks
  • Scratch
  • Combo Lunge
  • Aerial Whirlwind Kick
  • Pouring Kicks
Strategy
Soldiers are a familiar sight in the series. They mostly walk around, trying to get close and perform one of their attacks. When they use their Aerial Whirlwind Kick, however, they'll be able to cover quite some distance. All of their attacks can be blocked, though. They are weak to Blizzard Element iconBlizzard.
Large Body
Large Body from the Ultimania
Attacks
  • Mow Down
  • Rush
  • Jumping Shock Wave
  • Body Attack
Strategy
Large Bodies appear to be quite sluggish, but they have quite some range with their attacks. When they jump up, be ready to jump as well to dodge the shock wave that appears upon their landing. It can also cover a lot of distance by sliding on its belly. Once it gets low on HP, it'll turn red and use the Rush attack more often. They're immune to physical attacks to their front, so get behind them or cast Magic to take them down.
Air Soldier
Air Soldier from the Ultimania
Attacks
  • Knuckle Hammer
  • Thrust
  • Axe Kick
  • Savate
  • Tackle
Strategy
A familiar enemy in a new outfit. As the name suggests, these enemies fly around in the air, and pummel you by diving down. They can be quite a nuisance by flying just outside your reach, but all of their attacks can be blocked, so use that opportunity to counter while they are in reach.

Once you've dealt with the Heartless, it's time to continue your ascent. However, there are no ledges to jump on! Don't worry, approach the brick wall, and you'll see a tutorial about Free Running, a new ability that allows you to walk up walls (You can identify walkable walls by the faint glow). Scale the first wall to reach a statue of Zeus. Before taking a right and continuing up the mountain, climb the wall to the left to reach a treasure chest containing an Item iconAP Boost.

Continue up the mountain and you'll reach a spectacular view. Sora shouts for Hercules, but gets the attention of another familiar face, Hades, Lord of the Underworld. Hades calls for his recently awakened Titans to blow you straight off the mountain. Afterwards, he is visited by yet two others, Maleficent and Pete, who are searching for a "black box".

For the first time in the series, you can bring more than two party members with you. Up to four party members can now join Sora in battle at the same time. So you won't have to choose between using world-exclusive party members or sticking with Donald and Goofy anymore.

You land straight in Hercules's arms, in the middle of a burning town. Hercules joins your party, and you get a quick tutorial on save points and the Moogle Shop. Walk toward the town square to start a cutscene, in which Sora asks Hercules where he got his power from. However, there's not a lot of time to talk, as a new type of Heartless rains down from above: the Heartless Emblem.pngFlame Core. You'll first get a tutorial on using Flowmotion; when using Air Slide against a wall or pole, you can slide a long way or perform certain attacks. Spinning around poles also draws in surrounding enemies.

Flame Core
Flame Core
Attacks
  • Fire Blow
  • Fire Throw
  • Rush
  • Meteor Attack
Strategy
As the name suggests, Flame Cores use Fire Element iconFire-elemental attacks. They can breathe fire, which has a chance of burning you, or launch homing fire projectiles. One of their more annoying attacks have them coat themselves in fire and fly around. Don't use Fire magic on them, as they're immune to it. However, they're weak to both Blizzard Element iconBlizzard and Water Element iconWater attacks, and using either of those spells will even cancel their Rush attack.

Defeating all Flame Cores rewards Donald with the Item iconMP Haste ability. After the battle, Pegasus swoops in, carrying Megara and Phil. After leaving again, Hercules throws a statue with Sora and party on it toward a person in need. After saving the kid, Maleficent and Pete appear. Pete remarks how Sora looks weaker than before, and accidentally mentions the black box they're searching for. Once they leave, it's time to rescue some more townspeople.

There's another Save Point here, with a large chest across it that contains the Item iconMap: Thebes, which gives you a mini-map of the area. Head down the stairs to run into some more Heartless Emblem.pngFlame Cores. After defeating them, Sora's maximum HP will increase. The Flame Cores left the way forward in flames, but fortunately Goofy's shield can withstand the flames. You'll learn about Team Attacks, and you can use Trinity Sled to cross the flames atop Goofy's shield.

Popcat
Popcat KHIII.png
Attacks
  • Pot Shake
  • Giant Claw Attack
  • Small Pot Bomb
Strategy
Popcats disguise themselves as pots, to attack you without expecting it. They tend to appear in groups, but are not much of a threat either way.

After getting off the shield, head straight ahead to find a chest against the wall containing a Item iconPotion. Cross the rooftops, and try to land on the statue's shield, then cross another rooftop and Air Slide to a raised building with a treasure chest containing an Item iconAP Boost, and two Heartless Emblem.pngPopcats. If you didn't make it onto the shield, you can also run up the wall of the building.

Jump down to the ground to find a group of Heartless Emblem.pngSoldiers and Heartless Emblem.pngAir Soldiers surrounding a man and woman atop a pile of rocks. Defeat the Heartless, and the reinforcements that appear, and talk to the man to receive a Item iconPotion. Head back to where you dropped of the rooftops to find a chest containing an Item iconEther.

Head further down the road to find another Trinity Sled section. However, this time, instead of just going straight, steer left after jumping from the ramp to reach an enclosed area. Head up a couple of steps, and jump on the ledge to the right to find a chest containing a Item iconShield Belt. From there, cross some debris to end up at the start of the Trinity Sled section. This time, stick to the right to make it past it, where you'll see a building collapse in the distance.

Jump down to enter the Gardens area, and immediately turn left and enter a small building to the side, where a man is surrounded by a bunch of Heartless Emblem.pngShadows and a Heartless Emblem.pngSoldier. After defeating them, talk to the man to receive a Item iconHi-Potion. Head back out and further into the Gardens to reach another Save Point and a chest containing a Item iconPotion.

Head further down to path to reach a woman atop a pillar, surrounded by Heartless Emblem.pngFlame Cores. Defeating these gets Sora an additional increase in max HP. Instead of going straight down the path, head right until you reach a statue (probably of Achilles). Hit the statue's heel (hence, Achilles), and it'll crash through two walls, creating a path to the other side, as well as revealing a treasure chests containing a Item iconMagic Ring. As you continue on, you'll see a fireball destroying another building in the distance.

Walk and slide along the path until you reach a flaming pit. Falling in there will damage you and burn you, so walk along the wall to avoid it. However, Heartless Emblem.pngAir Soldiers will show up, and try to hit you off the wall. Try to dodge them as you make your way across the wall, or attack them and Air Slide back to the wall to continue Free Running. On top of the building at the end of the wall is a large group of Heartless Emblem.pngPopcats, guarding a chest containing a Item iconMega-Potion.

Continue down the path to reach a more open area, where a bunch of Heartless Emblem.pngSoldiers have cornered a woman and child. As before, beat them and the reinforcements, which include Heartless Emblem.pngFlame Cores, then talk to the woman to receive your reward: a Item iconPotion. Further on is another flaming path, but first head to the far wall to rescue two more people from Heartless Emblem.pngShadows, Heartless Emblem.pngSoldiers and Heartless Emblem.pngAir Soldiers. Talk to the woman to receive an Item iconEther, once the Heartless have been taken care of.
