Applying for Affiliation

Affiliate?

An affiliate would link back to its partner, would it not? As far as I'm concerned only two, or three, of the sites here linkback to the KHWiki. Would someone contact them on this matter, or should I just turn this page into "Kingdom Hearts Wiki: External Links"? ^BLUER一番 11:06, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Dead Fantasy Wiki

Organization 13 - If only the whispers at the top of the ladder carried to the bottom rung... TALK - Parley! Couldn't we ask the http://deadfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dead_Fantasy_Wiki to affiliate with us since it has Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy in it and the wiki is doing rather well? The Final Fantsy Wiki is affiliated with them too.

KH3 Fanon Wiki

Why have we affiliated with this wiki? The KH3 Fanon Wiki is completely devoid of any activity or improvement to itself, it just sits there collect dust. I am not expected any further enhancement to that wiki, since it has been around since February 2010, and has almost nothing to show for it. The wiki also does not link back to us, and most certainly does not display qualities of a good database of Kingdom Hearts-relevant information that we are trying to affiliate with. --^DTN 18:44, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

I do think the KH3 Fanon Wiki will soon replicate the Kingdom Hearts Wiki. And it was not my decision to affiliate that Wiki with this one. I will talk to ZTG/TLE...Or, I think it was Trois that decided to affiliate the KH3 Fanon Wiki with this one. --史克威尔罗克斯 18:58, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

We certainly aren't seeking a replication for an affiliate, though. What we want is something with the same or a similar subject as the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, but does have something else to offer viewers when they click that "Related Sites" button. Right now, I see nothing the KH3 Fanon Wiki can offer them, or even the baseline of even one fanon story after its nearly six-month existence. In my opinion, these are obvious signs of a dead wiki. --^DTN 19:09, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

There are only two users now, but it's too early to decry it. Just like how it initially was for KHF and KHFrancophone. Of course, with KHFrancophone, Unbirth decided to make us affiliates when our to-be third admin, Thomaskh2, came along. Now KH3F may be far from even complete, but the fact remains that they're willing to be on the same subject, and that they've only got two active users. Dead or not, unlike a person, it can be revived. Also, I'm going with BK's decision which was posted in the archives. Even then the wiki was struggling. So I say keep it ! Sadly, I agree with DTN here. That wiki is a failed state, with no mainspace, and no attempt to make one whatsoever. I think we should get rid of it. KKD

But a dead one? If it's dead, then deaffiliate it. If it happens to become active again later, then you can reaffiliate, if you like. You shouldn't stay affiliated with a site that is inactive.

We did test it out, and when we did there was activity, albeit minimal. If everyone's okay on deleting it, and if we have more than a simple majority, I'm all for removing it. After all...... The Kingdom Key: Deaffiliation

I have recently seen The Kingdom Key after it has gone through its revamp. It is absolutely and in no way a Kingdom Kearts fansite any longer, or even anything remotely related to Kingdom Hearts. With the consensus of the community, I would like to request the immediate deaffiliation of The Kingdom Key and the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, since we no longer have anything in common to foster a connection. --^DTN 18:55, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I would argee with said course of action. The first time I found a redirect explaining the move, I notified BK. Once I saw it "die" to the KH world, I told Kate again. I believe it should be removed effective immediatly. KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON.

I'm not saying that any of those wikis would be bad affiliates, but we want to link to wikis that are associated with the subject of our wiki, Kingdom Hearts. Almost every single one of your suggestions is only transitively linked to Kingdom Hearts through Final Fantasy, which means that the link between subjects like Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest really just gets lost in that joint connection. On the other hand, Disney Wiki seems like a definitely possible future affiliate, and affiliating with them may help us resolve the issue we have recent had with our... "shared" content. In addition, we should try to reach out to sites other than wikis! Lots of Kingdom Hearts fan and news sites exist out there. For example, Kingdom Hearts Insider, Kingdom Hearts Ultimania, and even KH-Vids.Net could all be great affiliates to us. Our only non-wiki affiliate is Heartstation, we should definitely expand on that.

The sidebar says related sites. If we are going to allow non KH related wikis to be affiliates, we should consider changing that. Oh, and every link on the page is a double link (Under the cards and below them) KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON.

Unfaithful Affiliates

And by some chance, I had brought my dice along! — 09:16, December 31, 2010 (UTC) I just went through all of our affiliates to check that they are all linking back to the Kingdom Hearts Wiki. Shockingly, five four three of them are not displaying the name or link at all. Spanish Kingdom Hearts Wiki: Shows no display of us as an affiliate, yet they feature another affiliate, the Disney Wiki, in that space. I cannot find any link to this wiki over there. Final Fantasy Wiki: This wiki supposedly has an affiliates page, though I cannot find it and it is not displayed on their front page or side bar. If we are linking to them with easy access through our front page, yet they are not providing the link to our wiki, we are not gaining anything from our affiliation. Dead Fantasy Wiki: This wiki has an affiliates section on their main page... which we are not listed under. This could be a simple mistake, or a request to de-affiliate. KH-Vids.Net: The last item in the left column on their front page is called "Affiliates" and lists all of theirs--though we are not listed. In addition to this, GrandPyromania only links to us in his videos of his Kingdom Hearts "Let's Play!", and we are not mentioned anywhere else in his information. Our other YouTube affiliate links to us in their information box, which is a bit more convenient. Should we take action on this, or just let it fly since there is some form of linking (though it is small and diminutive)? I suggest we contact these sites and allow a few weeks to a month to allow for them to add us to an affiliates listing or section. If this is not met, we have no choice but to end our affiliation.

If FFWiki is not going to display that, they are making it extremely difficult for any of their viewers to find us. It surely will not be much trouble to add a short link to their front page, and I've sent Faethin a memo on the issue. Never mind, they do display it on their front page. It isn't very clear, but it is at the bottom of the page and uses the Wikia Gaming box, so that's why I missed. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm confused as to what an affiliate actually is. Is it a wiki or site that links to us in their content, or is it like a website friendlist? I just don't really understand why we have the Spyro Wiki as an affiliate. I mean, there isn't much you can relate between Spyro and Kingdom Hearts besides the fact that they're both fantasy video games and they're both awesome. It seems like Spyro Wiki would work more like an accomplice, not what I understand a true affiliate is. As for the YouTube accounts, pretty much the same point.

Most of our affiliates we have due to our related topics. It is not exacatly a friendlist, since we hardly interact with many of our affiliates, nor do they. Affiliation is basically a beneficial partnership to both sites to spread a link to their site to another popular site. The concern about Spyro Wiki has been raised before, but I think it was "settled" by TNE jumping the gun and adding the wiki to our affiliates list. YouTube accounts seem fine to me since those YouTube channels contain "Let's Play"s of Kingdom Hearts, which is the reason we are affiliated with them.

Our community just finished a restyling of how we do our affiliation requests so that this shouldn't happen again in the future. After some discussion in a roundtable meeting, we decided that we wish to affiliate with all of the five sites you have listed, though we are already affiliated with NIWA. We see a similarity in the goal of NIWA and its wikis and that of the Kingdom Hearts Wiki. Once you link to our wiki, we will be more than happy to list the sites on our affiliates page. Thanks!

German Kingdom Hearts Wiki

The text wikipedia: tell the software you want to link to wikipedia instead of an internal article. The software then looks up Wikipedia's address (called a URL) in the interwiki table and uses it as the base for the URL. The rest of the address comes form what is after the colon (:), which in this case is Kingdom Hearts I hope this helped explain it a little. IF note, please don't Hesitate to ask questions. Edit: Also, do you know if your wiki has the interwiki extension installed? if you don't know how to check, please go to the page called "Special:Version" on your wiki. If it is installed, it should show up under the "Special pages" section. I can provide an example, if you request it.

Affiliate page format

Question: How are we going to style the Affiliates page? Is it going to be... like the previous Affiliates page, with cards and images, a list of links, a list of website buttons, links and descriptions? Does anyone have any ideas? AS IF! The world is garbage! CRUNCH! DTN, although I like your idea, we already used avatars for the IRC Staff. In order to keep it original, how about giving each affiliate a world icon? Kinda makes sense, considering that this is like linking our world to all the others- just like in Kingdom Hearts! And I like the idea of adding descriptions as well.

There are 800+ parts, and we only had ten channel operators. I'm not entirely opposed to world icons, but this seems more original. If you choose to use Avatar Parts, TNE, you just have to make a layer for each "part" of the avatar, place them appropriately, and then flatten. Of course, there are other ideas as well.

I'd better visualise how all those ideas are going to look on the page... If we use avvie parts, I am not sure if we're gonna use the full body, or just the faces, or something in part. Or, if we're gonna use our affiliates' HTML buttons, I don't want to rip off what WiKirby did. It's going to be a change from the Wikia version, that's for sure. Now, I'm working on the Avatar Parts bit for the Affiliates page, but I'm not sure — is mixing and matching okay? I'm starting with KHFR at this point, and it isn't entirely Dark Riku...
