I haven't quite got the fine points down, like...when, or where... It just kinda kicks in whenever it wants to.

Ienzo was one of the six apprentices to Ansem the Wise, and the complete being of Zexion. He is a confirmed character to appear in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.

Story

Dabbling In Darkness

About a decade prior to Kingdom Hearts, Ienzo was one of six apprentices to the ruler and scientist of Radiant Garden, alongside Xehanort, Braig, Dilan, Even, and Aeleus. Worried the Darkness in people's hearts would eventually consume his world, Ansem began performing tests on Xehanort's heart. Eventually, at Ienzo's persuasion, he created a laboratory in his castle's basement for such experimentation. However, Ienzo and the other apprentices had their own intentions for the laboratory, and began conducting inhumane experiments on the human heart and the darkness within it. Such experimentation led to the creation of Heartless. Ansem quickly discovered their secret experiments, and immediately ordered them to stop. One day, after being advised to review their research data by King Mickey, Ansem found that the effects of their experiments had become irreversible.

Eventaully, Ienzo and the other five apprentices dabbled too deep into darkness through their continued experiments. Ienzo, along with the others, was consumed by the darkness, producing a Heartless. However, the apprentices all had strong wills, and so Ienzo also became his Nobody, Zexion. The six Nobodies formed Organization XIII, and banished Ansem the Wise to the Realm of Darkness.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Ienzo is confirmed to appear in the upcoming game Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Since the game takes place ten years prior to Kingdom Hearts, he will probably be conducting experiments alongside the other five of Ansem the Wise's apprentices.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Ienzo appears as his Nobody Zexion in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. He works with two of Ansem the Wise's other former apprentices: Vexen, who was Even, and Lexaeus, who was Aeleus. Their goal is to stop Marluxia, a much newer member of the Organization, from using Sora to overthrow the Organization. To do so, Zexion planned to use Riku to counter Sora. After Lexaeus died trying to accomplish controlling Riku, Zexion conversed with Axel, and realized that Marluxia would soon be taken care of by Sora. Thus, he went off to meet Riku, but not without telling him that Sora is also in the castle, and that he hates him for the darkness in his heart. On Castle Oblivion's Destiny Islands-based floor, Zexion tries to prove to Riku that Sora will refuse him for his darkness, and ends up engaging him in combat. Severly wounded, Zexion retreats to his basement base. There, the Riku Replica absorbs his life force, thus killing him. Zexion fades into nothingness, therefore ending the existence of Ienzo.
