Treasure Chests are scattered throughout the worlds of the Kingdom Hearts series. Most items are found within chests, though there are a few that are obtained as event rewards, bought from shops, or found by interacting with the scenery of a world.

In Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, treasure chests are only available using either Calm Bounty, Guarded Trove, False Bounty, or Key to Rewards cards (except for a single, natural chest in the 100 Acre Wood), while no chests appear at all in Kingdom Hearts coded and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, as they are replaced by Prize Blox, or in Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts II.

Design

Chests come in two sizes, large and small ones. Their specific design and appearances are based on the world they appear in.

Small chests

In Kingdom Hearts, small chests contain items, synthesis materials, accessories, and Torn Pages. In Kingdom Hearts II, small chests can contain items, synthesis materials, accessories, and non-Keyblade weapons. In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, small chests can contain commands and crystals.

Large chests

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, large chests can contain cards or sleights. In Kingdom Hearts II, large chests can contain maps and key items. In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, chests can contain panels and synthesis materials. In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, large chests can contain maps, recipes, and pieces of Xehanort's Report. The Spiderchest Unversed mimic large chests, although they do not replicate the designs exactly.
