Backslide missing in some formchanges' form action list?[edit]
After some testing in-game, it seems that both Double Arrowguns and Mirage Staff are de facto equipped with Backslide, despite this ability not being in either formchange's list of form actions. With both Formchanges, it's possible to use Backslide both in and out of combat, with Sliding Shot and Avatar Shift overlaying themselves onto it, respectively.
On the opposite, Hunny Blasters, a clone of Double Arrowguns, has Sliding Shot equipped but has slightly different mechanics for it (no Backslide, Barrier used when stationary).
When looking in the game files for the list of animations for each formchange, both Double Arrowguns and Mirage Staff have animation slots for Backslide (under the name "BackSlide") with the corresponding animations loaded in, exactly like Magic Launcher and Twin Yo-Yos. I suspect that Backslide not being listed in their form action lists (despite having anims for it) is an oversight from the devs…—Preceding unsigned comment added by Timoram (talk • contribs)
- I'm not sure I'd call it an oversight from the devs. It sounds like the Backslide animation is part of the Sliding Shot and Avatar Shift abilities, except for Hunny Blasters, I suppose. TheSilentHero 17:27, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- That would make sense then! Although that'd mean the in-game descriptions of Sliding Shot and Avatar Shift are surprisingly incorrect (you can use the Backslide animation when out of combat, without shots or clones).
- I also tested a bit more, and it seems that both Backslide and Offensive Backslide do trigger Wall Kick on walls (though this is very counter-intuitive, since you need Sora to hit a wall backwards while starting stationary, and thus starting with his back towards the wall). --/Timoram (talk) 18:04, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
