Xemnas is fought several times as a boss in Kingdom Hearts II. Xemnas is fought in an armored form twice atop the Dragoon Ship.
Phase 1
Template:Nobody Boss Xemnas' attacks are identical to the other members of Organization XIII. These include summoning Xaldin's lances to circle the player, Water Forms to linger around, claymores to slam into the ground, cards to attack the player, flaming chakrams to circle the area, and gun arrows to home in towards Sora. He can also swing his massive sword and project a barrier to protect himself.
Xemnas remains immobile the entire battle, sitting on his throne. Furthermore, he can be stunned, so the player can easily connect a combo and do massive damage. Xemnas will retaliate by swinging his sword to do heavy damage and knock the player back. At this time he may use one of his ranged attacks, but the player merely needs to approach him again and continue attacking. If the player is more magic oriented than strength, another useful strategy is to transorm into Wisdom-Form, move to the back wall, and constantly attack using Thunder magic. As long the player is persistent and heals when needed, Xemnas should be defeated easily.
Phase 2
Template:Nobody Boss In the second battle, the player can fly using Circle and Square, so controlling Sora can be difficult. Xemnas still swings his sword to knock the player back and projects barriers, but this time he uses these two attacks much more often, so hitting him with combos is virtually impossible as either of these two attacks will interrupt the combo.
After Xemnas takes enough damage, he will fling both Sora and Riku into the air, and several buildings will float in the air around them. Xemnas will also fling buildings towards them and fire energy bolts. Sora must glide close to one of the stationary buildings and use the Riding Shot Reaction Command, which will knock the building towards Xemnas with Riku on it. The player must then use the Meteor Rain command to break the shield, allowing Sora and Riku to descend back to the dragoon ship and attack Xemnas again. As they land, several white laser beams will appear, but they can be dodged. Xemnas does this several times during the battle.
After Xemnas does this a second time, he will begin summoning white lasers while being attacked. The third time he does this, white lasers will fire at Sora while he glides towards the buildings. Xemnas will not perform the maneuver again. After being defeated, Sora and Riku battle Xemnas one final time.
In this form, the main danger is controlling Sora properly to avoid Xemnas' attacks due to the increased velocity of his jumps.
