:The "Helping out" and "Current Happenings" section need to be bumped on the main page. Like seriously, we need to move the "Featured" stuff (and the stuff I believe to be extraneous, like the "Did you know" section) waaaay down. It simply isn't as important. We might also want to consider merging "Helping out" and "Current Happenings" sections and just make a "Community Portal" section. Just my thoughts. --{{User:LegoAlchemist/Sig}} 08:56, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
I guess my idea of backup would be that I check the thing daily and make sure it's up to date, and maybe do some occasional updating myself. I don't have a whole lot more time for the wiki other than 30 minutes or so every day, so yeah, I don't think that's enough to be a full fledged "employee" on this. {{User:LightRoxas/Sig}} 21:44, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, my idea has changed slightly, as what I originally tried to do was impossible to do correctly with only wiki code.  I do, however, have a backup plan, but that may be somewhat hindered by my broken finger.  I'll keep working, though.  {{The Inexistentsig}} 23:56, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Now, before you begin critizing it, let me say my part.
This format is new, and, to some of you, completely pitiful, due primarily to the fact that several of the pages have only a little content.  However, I've studied other community portals, and the key appears to be to have the page uncluttered, with the content spread out.  My format also allows users to actually "explore", and become completely immersed.  It will also allow specific users to take care of certain sections.
And, if this doesn't sway your opinions any, then, please, why don't we just try it out for a time?  We can find people who rarely come here to view the portal, and offer their opinions (I have already begun gathering some).  I'm completely open to suggestions, and new sections can be added in a heartbeat.
Also, the pages will be renamed with <nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE}}</nowiki> when hosted here (Wikia doesn't have that).  The images would also be more sensably named.

:Can I comment here? If not move it somewhere else. I really like your design TI and exploring is fine and such, but there should be at least some hints what can be found at the places you visit, one small sentence would be enough. For example: "Visit the Mailbox - Write the staff". It's a lot of clicking if you search for the right place and don't visit the Twilight Town often enough to remember it. --[[User:ShardofTruth|ShardofTruth]] 21:37, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

I like it, mostly, but I don't think mouseovers are enough, even though they are quite good. You might have to use some small text in addition to those.  --{{User:Neumannz/SigTemplate}} 21:47, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Keyblade-Blk.png As a solution to having somewhat low activity recently, we would like to add a list, or something similar, that details what the wiki is working on. Naturally, most wikis use their Community Portal for this. However, ours is a dump. I don't think anyone uses it and it has not been updated or kept up with regularly for a very long time.

For this reason, we are seeking managers for the community portal that will renovate the page to fit the desires and needs of the community, keep the active forums list updated, and manage the projects table. We are seeking a team of about 2-3 users, to make sure that the work gets done.

If this can be done, we would like to display the Community Portal more prominently on the main page. Interested users should be:

  • Very active.
  • Involved in forums and discussions held in the forums so that they know what needs to be put up as "active."
  • Versed in coding in the event of restructuring.

Users interested in the management positions should post, or apply, below. Thanks!

Discussion[edit]

I am currently making a test version of the Community Portal. I will post a link here or on the IRC when I am finished. KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON. 17:11, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

The "Helping out" and "Current Happenings" section need to be bumped on the main page. Redesign[edit]

Also, the pages will be renamed with {{DISPLAYTITLE}} when hosted here (Wikia doesn't have that). The images would also be more sensably named.

Now, before I give you the link, the following must be done:

  1. Log onto Wikia, on any wiki.
  2. Make sure your skin is Monobook.
  3. Go to the Sandbox wiki.
  4. Go to your personal monobook.js, and copy the contents of this page into yours.
  5. Enter Traverse Town, and begin exploring!
