Kharon - "Not even the deepest darkness can shroud the connection our hearts share." TALK - "My inner darkness saved me when I needed help the most." Prehaps the name is refrencing arch as in a kind of rank.

Remember, the Kingdom Hearts series has many relations to the Final Fantasy series, and many of the powerful enemies from all games contain the word Arch meaning a high rank or power over those similar.
