Although the game identifies Rare Truffles as enemies, the mushroom-like Heartless never attack. Classified as a "friendly" Heartless, Rare Truffles love to jump, and are always found hopping. The more they jump, the happier they are. As the name implies, the Rare Truffle is the rarest "enemy" in the game. Its name is sometimes mistaken as being "Blue Truffle."
The Rank items are obtained from Rare Truffles in Kingdom Hearts. They are proof that the player satisfied a Rare Truffle by bopping it into the air a set number of times, and have no purpose except bragging rights.

Like other Mushroom Heartless, the Rare Truffle yields extremely rare items. However, unlike the items dropped by White Mushrooms and Black Fungi, there is no true use to them. To obtain an item from a Rare Truffle, the player must use any means necessary to keep them in the air for as long as possible. Using the Keyblade or Aeroga is usually recommended. If the Rare Truffle touches the ground even once after the initial hit, it becomes enraged and departs, unless the item requirements are met.
* Shiitake Rank: Bop the Rare Truffle into the air 50 times. Its resell value is a mere 100 Munny.
* Matsutake Rank: Bop the Rare Truffle into the air 100 times. Its resell value is a mere 500 Munny.

The best place for Rare Truffle "bopping" is Neverland. They spawn on the deck of the ship, and can easily be trapped in corners for repeated hits with Aeroga. If Goofy has the MP Gift ability equipped, he will automatically restore Sora's MP, so all the player needs to do is keep Aero cast every 15-20 "bops" and they can easily get 100 hits.

The Rare Truffles indicate their desire to be in the air by constantly hopping around, and will richly reward anyone who can satisfy them. However, if they touch ground again after being launched into the air, they immediately depart. While they can be kept in the air with well-timed jumps and Keyblade combos, the easiest method of satisfying them is to herd one into a corner and then use an Aero spell. Touching the wind around Sora will launch the Rare Truffle into the air, and as long as it continues to fall onto this wind it will bounce back up, so the requisite 100 hits can be reached by simply staying beneath the Rare Truffle and recasting Aero as necessary.
A similar tactic is used in Kingdom Hearts II for a mini-game in Twilight Town, known as Grandstander.

The player can reach certain ranks through "bopping" the Rare Truffle enough times. They both have no purpose except bragging rights, and are proof that the player has satisfied a Rare Truffle by bopping it into the air. They are called Shiitake and Matsuake Rank. Matsutake and Shiitake are both edible Asian mushrooms.

Journal Entry

Non-attacking Heartless that are rarely found. They like to jump, so helping them stay in the air may bring good things.

Ranks

The Rank items are obtained from Rare Truffles in Kingdom Hearts. They are proof that the player satisfied a Rare Truffle by bopping it into the air a set number of times, and have no purpose except bragging rights.

 • Shiitake Rank: Bop the Rare Truffle into the air 50 times. Its resell value is a mere 100 Munny.
 • Matsutake Rank: Bop the Rare Truffle into the air 100 times. Its resell value is a mere 500 Munny.

Strategy

Trivia

The Rare Truffle is the only Heartless in a Coliseum Cup to ever appear alone, excluding the boss Heartless, Behemoth.
