Alright, let's get cracking, shall we? Put in the disc, turn on the playstation, plug everything in, and away we gooo....


Choose "New Game". Pick difficulty. Choose vibration and sound settings. Watch awesome cutscene.


I'm going to assume you know the story so far, if not, you're on a KHWiki, go look it up.

Once you finally get control, it will be of Roxas, not Sora, as KH veterans may have been expecting. Don't worry, this isn't for long. Now, obey the painfully obvious tutorial, and walk forward. Pressing circle will make Roxas jump. It's not necessary. This guy has had something, stolen, too, and goes and tells you to ask across the street. You will then find yourself across the street with no warning. Ah, yes, Reaction Commands. The most awesome feature in this game. Whenever you see a big green triangle flash up on screen, you can press triangle to make some event-specific thing happen. This can range from talking to people, to dodging an attack, to picking up an opponent's weapon and throwing it. Almost always a good thing. Right now, you need to talk to the shop owner. Do so to prompt another text-cutscene-thing. She will direct you to the candy shop (which, by the way, you can never buy candy at). Now, the lady at the shop is missing her cat. And what's that on the roof? Here's where you learn about locking on. Very important. Basically, locking on means that you track a specific enemy in battle. It's a crucial skill, so get used to locking on at the start of battle. The candy shop lady has had her --- stolen, too. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR NOT SELLING ME CANDY! *ahem*

Roxas will automatically go to the Sandlot, where you will see Raijin, Fuujin, and Vivi. Then, Seifer shows up. And he's had his --- stolen, too. Somehow, this degenerates into a fight. Now, pick a weapon. One boosts attack slightly, one boosts magic slightly, and one boosts defense slightly. I'm going to assume you can work out which is which. I normally pick magic, and I'd advise you do the same, but this particular choice doesn't have a big impact later. Now, to whooping Seifer.

I feel pathetic calling this a boss. But, still that's what he is, even if he's a pathetically EASY boss. First, the game tells you that if you run out of HP, you die. Really? Never would've guessed that! Anyway, proceed to beating Seifer up with a wand. First, lock on, then, attack with X. If he has his Struggle Bat in front of him when you attack, he'll block the first one. No matter, you recover faster then him. Hit him three times to perform a combo, and to have the game explain how to do a combo. Helpful, huh? It then explains that if you hit an oncoming attack with an attack, both are nullified. It's helpful until you get Guard. Now, the fight actually starts, so proceed to win. (FUN FACT: if you lose, you get an alternate cutscene afterwards.) Just keep moving, and hit him when he stops. the best time to attack is when he says "Don't leave me hanging now."


When either he or you dies, the other team takes a photograph, that then gets stolen by what looks like Michael Jackson. Just kidding. It's a "Dusk", but for now it's called "Mysterious enemy". Either follow it through The Woods, or just go directly to the other side, it doesn't matter. When you reach The Old Mansion, you see it sitting at the gates. Walk up to it and press triangle to cue a cutscene and fight.

Again, this isn't really a boss, but the game seems to treat it as one, so who am I to argue? It's actually impossible to lose this fight. At first, you can't even hit the thing, so just flail ineffectively until another cutscene happens, granting you the Keyblade. That'll happen when either you hit it enough times, or you get low on HP. I count it as 9 hits, but I may be wrong. Anyway, once you have yourself an oversized key, beat the snot out of it. If you wanna be cheap, use reversal, hit it twice, repeat. It'll never get a hit off. Otherwise, use reversal, get off a combo, dodge it's attack, repeat. If you happen to run out of HP, the game heals you, so go nuts. Once it dies, it explodes into munny and photos. Huh. Weird.

In the ensuing cutscene, you see that --- means "photo", and that they are all of Roxas. Also, Roxas seems to have contracted amnesia of the Dusk. Go figure. Anyway, I'm not here to describe cutscenes. Watch them yourself.

Anyway, after the onslaught of cutscenes, you get taught how to save. This is important. Learn it. Once you've "got it memorized", step outside. Follow Hayner, Pence, and Olette up the street. As a reward, you get yet another cutscene.

Now, you discover that you need to make money. I recommend the minigame "Mail Delivery" for this. You only NEED to get 50 extra munny (500 total), but if you get 1050 extra (1200 total), you get 2 bonus AP. Let's aim for that, no? If not, just go up the hill to station heights after one run. If you are going to, do the run repeatedly. Once you have it down, you should be getting 50 munny a run.

When you're done, go up the hill to Station Heights, and talk to Hayner. If you got enough for the two AP, he'll say something about watermelon. Now, no matter how much or little you gathered, you'll end up with exactly 5000... And always lose it immediately.
