Shield Charge, also called Block Charger and Focus Block, is a technique introduced in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. It allows the user to power up by guarding enemy attacks.
Mechanics[edit]
In Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, Block Charger is an accessory ability that charges the Clock Gauge by blocking enemy attacks. Each successful block increases the Clock Gauge by 200, 300 with Clock Boost equipped. The Clock Gauge does not increase when the Finish Command is available, or when blocking an exploding Blast Blox. Block must be equipped to use this ability.
In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Focus Block is a Defense command that has a maximum level of 3. It charges the user's Focus Gauge by blocking enemy attacks. The Focus Gauge increases by the amount of damage that would have been taken.
In Kingdom Hearts III, Shield Charge is an action ability exclusive to the Counter Shield and Frying Pan Formchanges. It is activated by holding /
. Any attacks that hit the shield will charge the shield in two different stages; the first stage's counterattack delivers a single blow to enemies, while the second's delivers a flurry of blows. Sora can move around slowly while guarding. Charging the shield requires Sora to guard against a separate attack.

- Terra and Ventus can obtain Focus Block from a bonus panel on the Royal Board.

- Counter Shield has Shield Charge as a default ability.
- Frying Pan has Shield Charge as a default ability.
