William Turner

William "Will" Turner is one of the many Disney characters that Sora and co. meet on their adventures in Kingdom Hearts II. He made his first appearance in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy serving as another major protagonist alongside Captain Jack Sparrow. He is present at the time of Kingdom Hearts II and resides in Port Royal.

Pirates of the Caribbean (2003)

A very talented swordsmith. As a boy, Will was rescued at sea after pirates burned his ship and left him to drown. About the same time he was rescued, the pirate medallion his father had given him disappeared.

Young Elizabeth Swann was aboard the ship that rescued Will, and they've been friends ever since. As Elizabeth's father is governor of Port Royal, Will is a bit shy and rather formal around her.

Story

First Visit

The town is already swarmed by Heartless and cursed pirates when Elizabeth gets kidnapped.

Will joins forces with Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jack Sparrow to rescue Elizabeth and travels to Isla De Muerta where the pirates are holding her prisoner. There, he knocks out Jack and rescues Elizabeth from Captain Barbossa.

On their way back to Port Royal, Will realizes the pirates are after his blood, not Elizabeth's. For the pirates, after marooning Jack on a godforsaken island, killed their fellow crew member, William "Bootstrap Bill" Turner (Will's father). Eventually, the Interceptor gets caught up by the Black Pearl. Will marks his name in front of the pirates and threatens to kill himself so that the curse will remain with them unless they leave Sora, Elizabeth, Donald and Goofy alone. Though Barbossa promises to leave them alone, he also leaves behind the Heartless to drown the ship. Jack and Sora and co. manage to save the ship and head for Ilsa the Muerta to save Will and defeat Barbossa. There, Will lifts the curse with his blood, so that Jack can kill Barbossa. After that, Will and Elizabeth are reunited and embrace each other.

Second Visit

Prior to the trio's re-visit, Port Royal is once again haunted by cursed pirates (and Nobodies), so Will and his crew travel to Isla de Muerta to find out if the curse has been reawakened. However, his crew gets killed while on the island. Luckily, Will manages to make to back to the ship, barely alive.

Being too worried to wait, Elizabeth travels across the ocean with Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Captain Sparrow and finds Will injured. After Sora, Donald, Goofy and Jack get blown to another ship, which is later drowned, Will and Elizabeth go to the Ship Graveyard to find them. Together, they travel around Port Royal to find the coins from the cursed Aztec treasure and return them to the chest from whence they came.

After Sora, Donald, Goofy and Jack defeat the Grim Reaper, Will and the others throw the chest with the cursed gold into the sea, lifting the curse.

Personality

Will is a brave person. He will do anything to rescue Elisabeth. That shows that Will is also a caring person. He cares the most about Elizabeth. But he doesn't seem to care much about Jack at first, he even hits Jack and leaves him with the pirates. Later, though, Will and Jack seem to become friends, as Will says that Jack is a good pirate.

Origin

Will Turner originally appeared in the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. In that film, Will's role is similar to his role in the first visit to Port Royal in Kingdom Hearts II. Will also appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It is not sure if he will appear in the next Pirates movie, because Orlando Bloom, the man who plays the role of Will in the movies, has said that he doesn't want to play his role anymore.

Trivia

• In the Japanese cutscene, Will points a pistol to his own neck, threatening to commit suicide and 'be lost to Davy Jones's Locker', true to the scene from the Pirates of the Caribbean film, although it was pointed at his head in the film. This is changed to lowering the pistol (quite aimlessly, as he can't die, and it is himself Will threatens to kill), in the English version.
