|text=Shouldn't you move this page to just simply "Abilities" or if that page is too long, you can divide them up into Kingdom Hearts I Abilities and Kingdom Hearts II Abilities, I don't think that we need a "Sora/" in the title - it looks cheap.  Like this isn't a real page; just a Walkthrough or something else less meaningful.

Or are you going to create pages for every single character's Abilities?  Because that seems like it would be one giant page and about a dozen little baby pages for each Ally that could easily be consolidated.}}

Unique, Common, Special(?)
What is the source of the categories we have on this page? Shared is clearly stated in the game, but I don't know about the others. What do the guides say? Semi-related, what comes up when you sort the ability list in the menu? -- 05:41, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
:I do not remember the guides saying anything about special/unique/common abilities. The abilities were stacked in a table of "Here it is, this is how you earn it."

:The term special came from, according to the third introduction paragraph: "Sora also has a set of Special Abilities, very similar to the unique abilities, which do cost MP; in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix these abilities are replicated for Limit Form..." Interesting enough, all special abilities are obtained outside of basic leveling up/weapon abilities.

Parent page
:Unique abilities, as taken from the article: "Unique abilities, including "Special attacks", "Support skills", and "Defense skills", are active abilities that represent combat techniques..."
I am under the impression that this should be a parent page to list the abilities. Each ability will then be separated into separate articles where all descriptions can be written there. You probably wonder, "Why not merge"? My answer: Because we are not Wikipedia and we do not demand something to be notable and referenced for one topic to be separated. Is that okay? Blue。 09:08, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm just following what you've said, each special abilities deserves it's own page, but if we merge KH, KHII, abilities and sleights all together, It'll be a veeeery long page, and Donald and Goofy have different abilities in KH and KHII--N/A
:Common abilities: "Common abilities are the passive abilities that represent personal upgrades, and have effects such as increasing the duration of a Summon, or allowing the character to regenerate MP by taking damage. Common abilities are not unique to any character..."--<span style="color:black">Xion</span><span style="color:darkred">4</span><span style="color:maroon">ever</span> 14:04, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
:Sorry, I have to reword that. Blue。 09:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
::I still don't get why we didn't just make them sub-pages of the respective character's articles, like Sora/Kingdom Hearts abilities, Sora/Kingdom Hearts II abilities, etc., (or possibly Sora/Abilities (KH) to make it shorter). Making them individual articles will seem odd in the long run, because a) when we set them up by level they are learned at, a single list would be more comprehensive (the setup will look somewhat different than this one though), and b) most abilities are one-liners, so it's a waste of space. My optimal solution is this: Move this article to Abilities, have it state all the descriptions based on name, not game (so KH, KHII, and KH:CoM are all included), make sub-pages for all the characters listing when they learn what (this includes defense up and such), have links link back to the Abilities article, if people want to read what it does. It's simple, comprehensive, and with the setup I have in mind, probably the best solution. --Hecko X 12:08, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
:::No objections--N/A
::::No problem with me. Hexed
:::::I was actually persuaded by this setup. It looked neat to me and I just want the KHWiki to increase its number of articles. Anyway, waste of space isn't a problem in a wiki. I haven't heard of complains from a wikia staffer that a wiki was eating the server or bandwidth. So that's me preferring such a setup. I gave the idea to make a character subpage, but then there was a suggestion to merge them. Blue。 18:02, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
::::::That setup is very similar to what I had planned for the subpages. And I use the term "waste of space" in an abstract sense. "Physically", the amount of kb used is the same +/- maybe 50, so that has nothing to do with it. It's because of esthetics. Small articles that can't be extended beyond 3-5 lines, because there isn't anymore information, might as well be merged together to get at least one decent sized (in terms of length) article. Active abilities, such as Ragnarok, Trinity Limit and such (which might also be classified as special attacks) can get their own articles because they have special requirements for activating that can be discussed, as well as advice on how to use them to the greatest effect, which obviously can't be done with stuff like "Scan" or "Treasure Magnet". --Hecko X 18:39, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
(undent) So that's that then. We'll just have to know which of the abilities do not deserve an article. Blue。 18:57, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Ally abilities
Yes, but if those are in the article just because we put them there, and they aren't ever called that in-game or in-guide, then we'd be better off calling them what they are, action and support. -- 15:27, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
I am under the impression that ally abilities should be listed in their respective pages. Thoughts?--N/A
::All the game calls the unique abilities is "Special Attack", "Support Skill", and "Defense Skill". "Unique" and "common" are my names for the categorizations, and if they're being confused as formal names, then we can switch them for something else. However, although the game recognizes the "type" and sorts the abilities by it, no formal name is given that I know of. Maybe Shard or Erry would have some way of peering at the game code to see if a name is given there? I don't know. In any case, no, there's not a formal name for the distinction, although the distinction exists. 07:53, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

I think they should be kept there. -Azul 07:50, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
So when you sort, what does it do? Does it do it automatically, or do you pick some sorting criteria?  -- 06:26, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
:I'll get started on this soon enough, no worries. --Hecko X 11:51, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
:"Type" is one of the criteria, and it sorts all abilities (except Combo Plus and Air Combo Plus, which are annoyingly placed within the active abilities) in the order given on this article. 12:10, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
::This is an annoying one. "Unique" and "common" are basically misnomers, since there are plenty of "common abilities" that only Sora learns. I am all for giving them different names, either "action" and "support", or maybe "skill" and "support", if you want to move the Combo Pluses up to where the game puts them. -- 00:43, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
::Action and support is fine. I really don't like having the Combo Pluses where the game puts them, though, as it makes no sense. 03:00, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
:::Well, if you consider it directly affects the actions Sora can makes, it somewhat fits in. But it's not an "action" per se, which is why I suggest calling it "skill" instead. -- 03:37, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts II abilities ?
KHHD
The Abilities list is as follows, when sorted by type (only gonna do the beginning, though):
*EXP Zero (0 AP)
*Dodge Roll
*Guard
*Counterattack
*Combo Master (3 AP)
*Combo Plus
*Air Combo Plus
*Critical Up
*Slapshot
*Sliding Dash
*Aerial Sweep
*etc...
Which brings us once again to revisit the categories we have on the page. (YAY)  -- 21:51, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
:Yeah, whatever, fine. Action and support it is, make sure to note in the lead that it is an implied separation based on the list organization, not an explicit characteristic. 05:40, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

*Vortex: Close the distance to nearby enemies with this powerful spinning attack.
:I'm not very fond of how the columns are uneven width and the format is different from our other ability tables, but I can see how this would help. What if we instead copied the level-based abilities to a separate table (perhaps collapsed?), for ease of reference?
*Aerial Sweep: Leap at an airborne enemy and strike a mighty blow.
:Also, do we have the cability to make citations appear in mouseover, as on wikipedia? Or, is it possible to do that "note" variant of the cite, where it's handled differently? We could have notes KHW, KHR, KHS, etc.? 15:41, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
*Blitz: Strike enemies ahead of you with a powerful finishing combo.

*Scan: View an enemy's HP gauge during battle.
:Nah, I was thinking of notes that you didn't have to mouseover. Actually, something closer to notes a thru f would work best, and we could apply them throughout. Somewhat like this, but using whatever coding wikipedia does. 18:18, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
*Treasure Magnet: Attract nearby HP/MP balls, munny, and items. Equip two to attract them from even further away.
:As far as splitting the tables, I'm working on backchecking the numbers, and should have a rough draft up tonight. 18:18, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
*MP Haste: Boosts MP recovery rate in battle, allowing more spellcasting.
*MP Rage: Recover MP whenever you're hit in battle. Heavier damage restores more MP. Equip more to boost effect.
*Berserk: Boosts attack power when HP is critically low. Combine with a weapon skill for more power.
*Second Chance: Keep 1 HP even after taking a critical hit.
*Jackpot: Receive more munny and HP/MP balls in battle. Equip to entire party to boost effect.
*Lucky Strike: Raises luck so that enemies drop rare items more often. Equip to entire party to boost effect.
*Cheer: Increases the summons' MP gauge, giving them more time and attacks per battle. Equip to entire party to boost effect.
*Second Wind: Recover from KO status quickly with HP fully restored.

Invincibility changes?
In Everglow's video on HD 1.5 ReMIX when fighting Sephiroth, he mentions in the description that the invincibility for Sonic Blade/Rave, Strike Raid, Ars Arcanum and Ragnarok have all been changed, especially to give invincibility only on the first attacks (save for Strike Raid). Can someone please confirm this? I only have vanilla KH, and this may be changes that applied to the original Final Mix as well. --SneaselSawashiro (talk) 20:16, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Unique, Common, Special(?)[edit]

What is the source of the categories we have on this page? Shared is clearly stated in the game, but I don't know about the others. What do the guides say? Semi-related, what comes up when you sort the ability list in the menu? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 05:41, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

I do not remember the guides saying anything about special/unique/common abilities. The abilities were stacked in a table of "Here it is, this is how you earn it."
The term special came from, according to the third introduction paragraph: "Sora also has a set of Special Abilities, very similar to the unique abilities, which do cost MP; in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix these abilities are replicated for Limit Form..." Interesting enough, all special abilities are obtained outside of basic leveling up/weapon abilities.
Unique abilities, as taken from the article: "Unique abilities, including "Special attacks", "Support skills", and "Defense skills", are active abilities that represent combat techniques..."
Common abilities: "Common abilities are the passive abilities that represent personal upgrades, and have effects such as increasing the duration of a Summon, or allowing the character to regenerate MP by taking damage. Common abilities are not unique to any character..."--Xion4ever 14:04, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Yes, but if those are in the article just because we put them there, and they aren't ever called that in-game or in-guide, then we'd be better off calling them what they are, action and support. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 15:27, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

All the game calls the unique abilities is "Special Attack", "Support Skill", and "Defense Skill". In any case, no, there's not a formal name for the distinction, although the distinction exists."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 07:53, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

So when you sort, what does it do? Does it do it automatically, or do you pick some sorting criteria? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 06:26, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

"Type" is one of the criteria, and it sorts all abilities (except Combo Plus and Air Combo Plus, which are annoyingly placed within the active abilities) in the order given on this article."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 12:10, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
This is an annoying one. "Unique" and "common" are basically misnomers, since there are plenty of "common abilities" that only Sora learns. I am all for giving them different names, either "action" and "support", or maybe "skill" and "support", if you want to move the Combo Pluses up to where the game puts them. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 00:43, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Action and support is fine. I really don't like having the Combo Pluses where the game puts them, though, as it makes no sense."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 03:00, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Well, if you consider it directly affects the actions Sora can makes, it somewhat fits in. But it's not an "action" per se, which is why I suggest calling it "skill" instead. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 03:37, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

KHHD[edit]

The Abilities list is as follows, when sorted by type (only gonna do the beginning, though):

 • EXP Zero (0 AP)
 • Dodge Roll
 • Guard
 • Counterattack
 • Combo Master (3 AP)
 • Combo Plus
 • Air Combo Plus
 • Critical Up
 • Slapshot
 • Sliding Dash
 • Aerial Sweep
 • etc...

Which brings us once again to revisit the categories we have on the page. (YAY) --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 21:51, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, whatever, fine. Action and support it is, make sure to note in the lead that it is an implied separation based on the list organization, not an explicit characteristic."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 05:40, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

"Damage Asper"[edit]

Wouldn't this be "Damage Aspir"? 70.191.168.131 07:35, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

While there doesn't seem to be any actual meaning to either "asper" or "aspir", since it's clearly a reference to Osmose, I would say, yes, it should be "Aspir". Thoughts? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 19:28, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
Osmose has been translated as both Aspir and Asper; while the link to Osmose is correct, the traditional translation used by FF may not be. My translation was attempting to provide a correct translation."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 22:00, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Shared abilities[edit]

These work for all party members, correct? Not just Donald and Goofy. TheFifteenthMember 20:13, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Well, I don't remember ever seeing footage of Tarzan gliding, now that I think about it... --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 05:08, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
In that case, the information on the article is wrong. We should get a few more sources before we make a judgement though. TheFifteenthMember 19:11, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Evolution[edit]

Is this a special attack, defense skill, or support skill? TheFifteenthMember 18:58, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Don't know. I've never seen the actual description. What we have is some kind of paraphrasing. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 21:44, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Table[edit]

GreninjaIcon%28SSB4-U%29.png
TheSilentHero used Substitute! It's not very effective... — 08:01, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
I wanted to play Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and I wanted to see when you learn each ability with the different dream weapons. But this table is a real mess. To find out which dream weapon goes with which level, you need to click on the references. So I thought I should try to improve it and I did so here. What do you think?

I'm not very fond of how the columns are uneven width and the format is different from our other ability tables, but I can see how this would help. What if we instead copied the level-based abilities to a separate table (perhaps collapsed?), for ease of reference?
Also, do we have the cability to make citations appear in mouseover, as on wikipedia? Or, is it possible to do that "note" variant of the cite, where it's handled differently? We could have notes KHW, KHR, KHS, etc.?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 15:41, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

TheSilentHero A true gentleman leaves no puzzle unsolved! — 17:40, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Well, we have Template:Note. But if we're going to use notes, I think it's better to split the table in tabs for KH and FM.

Nah, I was thinking of notes that you didn't have to mouseover. Actually, something closer to notes a thru f would work best, and we could apply them throughout. Somewhat like this, but using whatever coding wikipedia does."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 18:18, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
As far as splitting the tables, I'm working on backchecking the numbers, and should have a rough draft up tonight."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 18:18, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks to Porple, we now have hover-references! --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 05:31, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Jack, Peter, Donald, Beast[edit]

Refresh my memory, does the abilities menu list the last name for any of these guys?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 15:50, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Invincibility changes?[edit]

In Everglow's video on HD 1.5 ReMIX when fighting Sephiroth, he mentions in the description that the invincibility for Sonic Blade/Rave, Strike Raid, Ars Arcanum and Ragnarok have all been changed, especially to give invincibility only on the first attacks (save for Strike Raid). Can someone please confirm this? I only have vanilla KH, and this may be changes that applied to the original Final Mix as well. --SneaselSawashiro (talk) 20:16, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
